    Egw Die

I tried one and did not like it. It really does nothing more than a standard Lee sizing die. I got just as many case gauge rejects with it as I did with the regular die. It gives your loaded round a funky hour glass shape.
  2. Same guy. Get the large dot. Works really well with a Novak rear. Here's a picture. At arm's length the dot fills the rear. Let's see if they are smart enough to figure it out.
  3. The HiViz Tactical sight is what old eyes need. You can see it on their website. It has a really big FO dot. It actually works pretty well. The dot will fill the notch of most rear sights. Just use it like an electronic dot. Put it in the center of the target and pull the trigger. On a side note my eyes have actually gotten better to the point where I don't wear glasses any longer. Have not figured that one out yet.
  4. Heck, I thought Glocks had the correct grip angle. 1911s are the ones that are wrong.
  5. It sounds like EAA is a lot like Charles Daly and BULs. Both seem to have no clue as to what their customers want.
  6. I have tried several, but really like the Hornady M3. It holds at least 1,400 rounds of 9mm. I can easily get over 1,000 rounds of .40 in it. My next tumbler will be one of the small plastic tub mortar mixers. Should be able to get 6,000-10,000 rounds in one of those. Waiting for them to go on sale.
  7. Consider yourself lucky. Most SA 9mm guns don't group well at all. 6"-8" groups are pretty common.
  8. I saw a similar "odd" score at either the Ga. match or the Al. match last year. The shooter was one of the less agile ones.
  9. There is no such thing as waiting on the slide. You cannot pull the trigger faster than the gun will cycle. Each of the guns mentioned does have a different "recoil cycle". I did a pretty extensive test a few weeks ago comparing the G17, G34 and G35. I used the same lower to keep the trigger the same. Bottom line was I shoot them all about the same. The G35 has a couple of advantages over the 9mm. It makes larger holes that will pick up a point or two in a match. I don't buy into the theory that a larger bullet diameter might get you a hit on a non-threat. There are a lot more threat targets than non-threats in a match. Secondly the larger holes are easier to see.

    Sight Height

    Should be .165".
  11. If you "tip" the SO before you shoot, no concealment required.
  12. Capel, I did not mean to sound critical. I am just seeing the 3 shot scenario, IMO, too often in matches. I have been to some matches where every target got 3 shots. BTW, check Billy's score again. He may have beaten me. Mark, remember a 300 gr bullet only has to go 416 fps. I load mine all the way up to 430 fps. I thought about doing a Tac load on the high/low runner stage but chickened out - no guts, no glory. If I shot it again I would. Tell Horace he let a girl beat him. Stage 2 - the flap had fallen down again when I shot. Did not bother me. If an old fart like me can get down low enough to shoot it in 20.62 then you young guys need to stop whinning. Hats off to the SOs for shooting in awful conditions.
  13. Who won High Senior? This was a pretty good match. One thing I would change is the number of hits per target. I don't know why everyone is going to 3 shots per target. MD shoots CDP? My shooting is getting better every match. My hand should be 100% by the Alabama State Match. Don't know where the rumor got started that I had sold all my guns and quit shooting. Geez guys I take three months off for surgery and you would think I had died. It was good to see Austin - 79 and still shooting. See you all in Mississippi.
  14. The only thing I use the FCD with is lead bullets.
  15. I think the reason you don't see more Sigs or HKs is evident in the first picture. Both guns have a high bore axis = more muzzle flip. Sure the top shooters can make them work, that's what they are paid to do. The average guy will find the Glock and XD platforms easier to shoot.
  16. I remember that stage now. You were shooting over a car at a close swinger. I did not like the FTN either on that stage. Some of the guys just shot three head shots. As I recall the AC said two of those shots were to be counted as misses. My argument was the head shots were more difficult and should be counted as hits. I don't recall what the final decision was on that issue. John gave Dave Sevigny a Procedural on that stage for reloading before reaching cover. I have Dave shooting that stage on video somewhere. That stage was right after the briefcase stage.
  17. I am switching over to Clays for .40 Minor and .45ACP Major. Guess I will try Clays for 9mm also. Thinking that 3.0 gr ought to be about right for a 147 gr plated bullet and a 1.135 OAL. Anyone tried that load? I have been using Titegroup for years and like it. Clays just feels softer in .40 and .45. I get a little leading with TG in my G35. Tried Clays at the same FPS and got no leading at all.
  18. My old G35 had over 100,000 rounds loaded with TG through it. Shot just as well the day I sold it as the day I bought it.
  19. I load a 125 gr Valiant TC bullet with 3.5 gr of Titegroup. OAL is 1.135". 1050 fps. BTW this is shot through a stock G34 barrel. No leading. I pay $18 per thousand for the bullets. It is also my practice load for my G35 with a 9mm barrel.
  20. My thoughts are if you have the 2 to body 1 to head scenario you don't score the body shots. Just require two hits on the body before the head shot. If we are saying that the BG has armor on how can we score the two body shots?
  21. I have seen that scenario several times. I don't care for it. The head miss should be scored as a miss, not FTN. If you are going to simulate body armor then black out the target below the head and require head shots. Mark, I don't remember that stage. I must have hit the head. BTW, the Alabama match for '07 will be a lot simpler. We had too many movers. Even my stages will be easier - maybe.
  22. I have always like the looks and features of the Eclipse Kimbers. I just wish they did not come with night sights. They should offer them as an option not standard.
  23. No minimum. My G35 has a 16 oz. trigger.
