  1. All you need is #14 if that. I have never had any feeding or extractions out of my 9mm barrel.
  2. Try changing the bearing first. The 9mm is longer. I have not had any problems with my cheap,$67,Federal barrel.
  3. BTW, Midway has a Uncle Mike's Wilderness copy for $23. I have both. The UM belt is just as good.

    Still Waiting

Why not just purchase one locally? I like to pick through several to find the one that has the best fitting barrel. Seems to have paid off as all of my G35s and 34s group under 1 1/2" at 25 yards.
  5. One of the guys at Metalform told me they would have 10 rd 9mm mags available this spring. I hope they don't miss the boat like they did with the 10 rd .40 mags. They are way too long to fit into the IDPA box. I just made my own. I have 10 round .40 or 9 round .45ACP mags that will fit into the IDPA box and function perfectly. Talk about the perfect ESP gun. 1911 .45 10 rounds to start 130 pf 200 gr SWC. Now if I could just learn to shoot a 1911.
  6. If you want to make the problem go away 100% of the time you have two choices. Lighten your stock striker or purchase one of the Lightening Strike lwt. STEEL strikers. Stay away from their titanium model. I have had too many tips break off with those.
  7. Flex, I have put it on the back burner for a couple of months. I need to focus on my G35. The Al. IDPA State Championship is in April. There are a couple of issues with the G21 that must be overcome first. The heavy slide prevents really light loads. Just last night I put an 11# spring in it. Have not shot it yet, but the slide action feels better. A 200 gr lead SWC feels pretty good at 650 fps. The slide is not slow. I am able to get .16 splits with it. My Kimber feels much better. I have some 9 round mags that fit into the box. 10 rounds to start is not bad. Problem is I just don't shoot a 1911 as well as a Glock. Maybe more practice would help. I think the "perfect" ESP gun would be a Caspian hi-cap in .45ACP. The Caspian grip appears to be smaller than the STI. I also looked at a XD in .45. I don't care for the somewhat high bore axis. The new Taurus 24/7 Pro with a 5" barrel might work well also.
  8. I can feel the love. Time for a group hug.
  9. A .40 shoots softer than a 9mm. Bigger hole too.
  10. I happen to like the way my ESP .45ACP Kimber shoots at a blazing 560 fps. That is a 128.8 pf.
  11. Do they have a 5" model in the works?
  12. Heck, to make it fair we should have to purchase our guns and ammo from IDPA headquarters. Have the guns sealed, no tinkering. Only guns allowed would be Wilson 1911s. I am certain Bill would go for this.
  13. I am going to try some 160 gr lead bullets in my G34 just for grins. I suspect the twist may be a bit slow for that bullet weight. I have had mixed results with 147 gr lead bullets. OTOH the Valiant 125 gr lead bullet is a real tack driver. It is my favorite practice bullet. I load it to 1.135" with 3.5 gr of Titegroup. I get 1050 fps with this load. My wife's G34 likes all of the plated/jacketed 147 gr bullets. One thing that is very interesting is none of my Glocks lead. I have pretty well settled on Valiant bullets. They are cast in the 18-20 hardness range. I have about 2,000 rounds of their 200 gr SWC through my G21 without a hint of lead.
  14. Here's a wild thought. Change the scoring to major/minor in ESP and SSP. Use .5 and 1.50 for minor and .25 and .75 for major.
  15. Some folks confuse IDPA with training. IDPA is just a game, nothing more.
  16. Cy, I think I can fix that barrel with a little Bondo. I would just saw cut out that bent section of the slide. Should make case ejection easier.
  17. Cy, I told you 9.3 gr was the max load. You just had to push the envelope by adding that extra .1 gr.
  18. ESP????? I thought a G34 was made for SSP!!! I put you in SSP for the Alabama State match anyway. I did not think you would want to miss a chance to spank Dave.
  19. Yes you can get a really short crisp 3 lb. pull with a Glock. One hint, you have to use an 8 lb. connector.
  20. The Blade-Tech injection molded holster is probably not legal unless you have a really thick belt. I have used one for years and really like it. Being the rule follower that I am I switched to one of the Ready Tactical holsters made by my friend Chris Stewart.
  21. I load all of my .40 and 9mm to 1.135". Never had a feed problem. I just add a little car wax (Nu Finish) to my tumbler media. No need for One Shot.
  22. I have been shooting lead through my stock Glock barrels for years. Interesting thing is they lead much less than conventional barrels. I use two brands of lead bullets Valiant and Magnus. Mostly Valiant. I don't push them over 1,000 fps. One exception is my wife's G34 practice load of 3.5 gr of Titegroup with a 125 gr Valiant bullet at 1050 fps. BTW a very easy way to remove lead in a SS barrel is a 50/50 mix of vinegar and peroxide. DO NOT use in a carbon steel barrel. It will etch the barrel. I use this to clean my Kimber barrels. I cap the barrel and let it sit for about 5 min. All of the lead will be removed. Keep this solution off you hands as the lead is in suspension.
