  1. Don't see how I can change my grip very much. If I lower my weak thumb very much it gets in the way of my trigger finger.
  2. I don't think anything is wrong with my grip. It is the typical thumb over thumb grip. The slide release rests right under my thumb.
  3. I had the same issue with a HS2000. Remember those? Same gun just $150 cheaper. Gun shop owner gave me one to shoot in IDPA when they first came out. Handled great except for one thing. My thumb rested on top of the slide release. Slide would not lock back. I looked at one of the 5" .45ACP models - same problem. If they would move the slide release forward about 1/2" I would buy one.
  4. Not sure if you are aware of this but a regular 1911 main spring housing works fine in a STI. Allows you to get rid of the plastic one. You have to bevel it in one spot.

    Kkm Twist Rate

I had to think back on the time frame when I shot that tiny group. At that time we were using West Coast bullets. I stated incorrectly that I used Rainier. West Cost at one time would ship bullets freight free. Seems like we had to order 20,000-30,000 to get the free shipping. Yes, the load is 3.0 gr of Titegroup. One thing I have noticed is my G35s and her G34 seems to shoot anyone's plated bullets very accurately. We are currently using Berry Bullets. They appear to have the best price.

    Hybrid Ports

I talked with JR over at Lone Wolf and he told me they were going to start offering EDM holes for $5 a hole. You pick where and how many.

    Kkm Twist Rate

They must have "tuned" their twist rate to match a lighter bullet. This might be an issue with heavy bullets. Guess that's why I tend to stick with the stock barrels. Never found a reason to buy an aftermarket barrel for a Glock. Every Glock I own will group better than 1 1/2" at 25 yds. My wife's G34 goes way under 1" with a 147 gr bullet.
  8. Buy several and see which one suits your style. I run an 11# spring in my Kimber. A 12.5 works for me also. Remember, the lighter you go the more accurate the feed cycle has to be. A heavy spring will mask feed problems.
  9. When I lived in Atlanta I would on occasion shoot my G23 at an indoor IDPA match.
  10. I like to put an activator as the first shot on some of my stages. Does away with the even number of shots.
  11. I shot the local IPSC matches in Atlanta with Bonnie. Nice gal!
  12. Funny but most folks have not figured this out yet. A .40 is softer shooting than a 9mm. Another plus is a .40 feeds much better than a 9mm in a 1911/2011 platform.
  13. You must live out West. Does Lizard have a friend named Bonnie?
  14. Trim the little "ledge" that catches the mag down a little. That way you don't have to push the release in as far. I do this on all of my competition glocks.
  15. I am allergic to the price of .38 Super brass. 9mm and .40 brass is almost free. Around here 9mm brass is free for the picking up.
  16. IMO, if you are going to use 9 round mags in a 9mm then you are better off buying a .40 1911. I have never had any feed issues with my .40 Kimber. I have some 10 round .40 mags that fit the box and run great also.
  17. I tried retirement once at age 55. Got bored - after climbing Mt. Everest a couple of times and the other Big 10 mountains I decided to work again. Even those two Shuttle trips got old. Went to a different Dr. yesterday. He injected my hand with steriods in an effort to clear up that darn jammed knuckle. The hand surgery part is completely healed - no more "trigger finger". It actually feels better already. ESP guns? Tried the 9mm 1911 route a few years back. Did not like the recoil cycle. Bought a .40 Kimber. It is much easier to shoot than a 9mm. Makes bigger holes too. A .45ACP 1911 is really soft when loaded to a 130 PF. No, I don't buy into the waiting on the slide crap that some on this forum spout. You cannot pull the trigger faster than the gun will cycle. Yes, I have some .45 mags that will hold 9 rounds and fit into the box. Starting a stage with 10 rounds works most of the time. I like 11 better. Yes, I admit openly on a public forum that I will dump a round on occasion. So break my sword in half and strip the buttoms from my tunic. Start the drum roll. I just finished building a .40 STI 2011 a couple of weeks ago. It is set up up for IDPA and IPSC. It is very soft shooting. I built it just for grins. I think a really hot set up for ESP would be a 2011 in .45ACP. I may just stick a .45 top end on this one and see. Bottom line is a shoot my G35 better than any gun I own. Stick a full length guide rod in it, add a steel mag well and you are good to go for ESP. That's right I said a steel mag well. Can't use a brass Seattle Slug but you can use a steel mag well. Talk about another dumb IDPA rule.
  18. Whose connector? Glock OEM connectors usually do not drag. The Ghost is the worst. Would not use a Ghost if someone gave it to me. I usually just straighten up the leg angle a little. You can polish down the ear a bit also.
  19. Does this mean I can now dump rounds?
  20. If you don't get a FTDR every once in a while you are not pushing the rules enough.
  21. Pat,I keep hearing folks talking about waiting on the slide. I guess I just shoot too slowly to realize that. I shot the 200 gr load in my Kimber 45 several times. I was able to get .13 splits - something most folks never do in a match. Most IDPA matches do not have the close in "hosefest" type target setups. I guess my main reason for shooting something like this is to "thumb my nose" at BW.
  22. Jim, wait until you see my latest ESP gun. I got the .40 STI working, next is the .45ACP top end. How does a STI .45 widebody shooting a 200 gr SWC at 640 fps sound? Am I violating the "spirit" of IDPA with these thoughts? Maybe a 230 gr bullet at 550 fps would be better.
  23. I have used the "search" function but could not get an answer as to whether or not the ICE or Novak SS magwell will fit into the IDPA box. Yes/No?
