  1. I have some stock Glock rears that you can have - they don't rust. How many do you need? I only have about 30.
  2. Cleaning a bore does not hurt anything. I pull a Bore Snake through mine every 1000 or so rounds. I soak the end in Hoppes #9. I would not use one of the stainless steel brushes.
  3. OK, I am not very smart, shot my 1st IDPA match last weekend. Would you guys be so kind to point out what rule I violated by forgetting to start a stage with enough mags.
  4. The G35 I bought/stole a month ago had the rear sight cranked all the way to the right. The gun looked to have had at most 50 rounds through it. Gun shop owner said the gun shot way to the left and that I might want to look at another gun. Took it home centered the funky Glock sight and proceded to shoot the center out of a 2" Shoot-N-C at 25 yds. Moral of the story - many shooters jerk/milk the trigger. When the wrist breaks to the left guess where the bullet goes.
  5. What???? The COF had two strings of fire. Shooting both strings required using all three mags. I forgot to start with two mags on my belt. Don't think that warrants a Procedural. Least not in any match I have shot. Maybe your rule book is different than mine.
  6. Yes, most definitely. The same one I got FTEB - Failure To Engage Brain. The thing that was really bad on mine was you could hear the comments from the "Peanut Gallery" on the video.
  7. I would think a simple way to do the trigger pull test is with the barrel pointing straight up/90 degrees the gun must lift a 3# weight. Even that is not perfect. If you use something like the old NRA Bullseye weights Glocks will be at an advantage. The hook will tend to slide up the trigger pad to an area closer to the frame. That being said I am not for a minmum trigger pull rule. I am afraid this is going to be a can of worms for USPSA. I have no dog in the hunt of the IDPA/USPSA crossover issue. I find, at least for me, the two don't compliment each other. I do shoot both, but tend to shoot a little too slow for USPSA.
  8. BTW Brownells is now carrying stock Glock parts. If you set yourself up as a dealer with them you can save a good bit of money.
  9. I have settled on a 12.5 # ISMI for all of my 1911s - 9mm, .40 or .45. , Major and Minor. My second choice is a 11#. Did you try any of the extended Metal Form .45 mags?
  10. I talked to someone at Federal the other week about another issue. I asked about primers while I had him on the phone. He told me all of their primer production was going to their loaded ammo. His advice was to get as many as I could.
  11. Glock has changed the .40 barrels a little. They appear to have more chamber support now. I am not sure when they made this change, but both of my G35s have more case support than my old one did.
  12. Clays is not a good powder for the 147 gr bullet. I don't think it will even make a 125 pf without over pressure. Stick with Titegroup. My TG load for 147 is 3.0 gr. For the 125 gr bullet I use 3.5 gr. OAL is 1.135" with both.
  13. Same here. I have also shot tens of thousands of rounds of lead 9mm through a G34 with a stock barrel. Downside is 9mm and .40 seem to smoke a lot more than a .45ACP.
  14. Gman, that's as bad as what happened to me at your match a few years ago. One of the stages had a couple of strings. I forgot to bring an extra mag. I spent about 10 seconds reaching for a mag that did not exist. I searched all of my pockets and mag pouches in vain. Worst part of all was the camera was rolling.
  15. The whole cover issue can be a real can of worms. It is usually best to design the stage where it is not an issue. Robert Ray and I have had several conversations about the cover issue. There are certain statements in the rule book that tend to contradict each other.
  16. Glock has used different suppliers of trigger springs, just like trigger bars, in the past. Not sure whose they are using currently. Will check my latest purchase. What I have found is the bright shiny springs seem to last a lot longer than the dull gray ones. Spare ammo? I carry twice as much as needed for the match. Can't tell you how many times I have given ammo to shooters that either forgot to bring their's or did not bring enough.
  17. I am not sure there is a "standard" spring for a 9mm 1911. I had one of the first 9mm SA guns. It came with a 9# spring.
  18. Whoops, I did forget the striker. I don't use a stock one and have broken the tip off of the Lightning Strike.
  19. I am enrolled in a Twelve Step Glock Program. I am on step 6. I must admit I do have a problem buying too many Glocks. My 1st G35 had over 100,000 rounds through it when sold. It was just as good then as when I bought it. Saw a G21 for a good price that I just had to have. My G35 had the old style locking block so that gave me another excuse. About the only thing that breaks on a Glock is the trigger spring. I think I broke one on my old G35. I have since started beveling the hole in the trigger bar. That seems to have cured the problem. I have heard of some extractor breakage. I've never seen that myself. I take a repair bag to matches. In it is a trigger spring, extractor and connector. I carry a spare G35 to any major match just in case one of my reloads blows the gun up. Hope that never happens. Just when I said goodbye to 1911s along comes a 9mm Kimber at a price that was just too good to pass up. Don't know what I will do with it. I did fit a .40 barrel to it over the weekend.
  20. Minimum bullet diameter for Major in USPSA Single Stack is .40. Not sure about plain old Single Stack rules. Eric, just stuck a .40 barrel in that 9mm Kimber I stole the other week. Feeds flawlessly with the 10 round IDPA friendly mags.
  21. The Wilson mags with the large base pad will not fit into the box with my Kimber CST. The rear sight is about 4 clicks up from the bottom. They need about 1/16" taken off the front to fit. I like the longer pads as on occasion the regular pads will pinch the heck out of my palm when I seat them.
  22. I am not so sure I would want to be around a 9mm shooting Major. I do wonder if it would not be a little easier to make if the gun did not have a comp and holes in the barrel.
  23. Duane, feel free to use anything you need. I will be glad to help. One thing I do when shooting for groups is replace the front sight on my Glocks. I use a big fat FO for competition. For groups I use a thin, .090", plain post front that I made. Shooting groups off the bench with a hand gun is a lot harder than folks think it is. What I have found is your elbow becomes the pivot point. You must allow the gun to recoil the same everytime. Don't try to hold it down.
  24. I do wish IDPA would allow Major PF loads to be scored differently than they currently are. TSA, while some aspects of it are flawed, has a good approach. We are going to shoot a fun IDPA style match this summer, just for grins, using a little different scoring. Major will have +.25 and +.75 scoring and Minor will be +.50 and +.1.50 scoring. Hit on NT will be a 10 sec bite. A miss will be 5 sec. I will probably shoot my G35 in SSP with Major loads. Hope I don't break my wrist
