Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Called EGW and they would have to make one from the slide. Only 75.00 and shipping plus 2 weeks time. They were very helpful. But the Distributor on Ebay says he will have one to me in 2 to 3 wks. The long wait time is for anodizing the mount black. I already paid for the mount so I will give him the chance to make good.
  2. Thanks for the info. The Distributor clarified their email and says they have one. I will soon see. I will still check out EGW.
  3. Just posted new topic please read. Doctor Red Dot / Novak Dovetail
  4. I just purchased a Doctor Red Dot on Ebay. New Distributor. I was sent a mount for a 1911 military sight / .325 width on mount. The Distributor says that he did not know their is a difference to 1911 and a Novak cut / .450 approx width. That they are going to have one made! Does anyone have a Doctor Sight on a 1911 style pistol with a Novak cut and where was it purchased? Thanks for any input
  5. So what you're saying is the 4 moa on the Burris is as easy to see as the 7 moa Doctor? Also Thanks for the input!
  6. What size dot do you recommend for shooting rack plates? 4 or 8 dot? speed is of the game. I've only looked thru a 1 dot at the range in 22cal. It was a Bushnell Holo site. It was pretty small. Thanks!
  7. I looked at the Doctor has 3.5 & 7.0 dot. The Burris has only a 4 dot. What do most people use for speed an aquisition on plates? Do these sites really withstand a 1911 recoil all day long. If any one has used please reply, would like to hear from actual users. Thanks! the C-more looks very good but will have to send to a shop.
  8. The reason is to shoot in more classes. I am still going to shoot open sites, just wanted to set up a pistol with red dot. I shot the BHP today and it shoots great for faster shooting. Will try 3.8 Clays / 200LSWC to soften the 45. I looked at C-more and the smallest frame is for 1911 frame .750. I just measured the BHP and it is .725. I will call and see if they make or a gun smith can fit if I choose to use the BHP for red dot. I am thinking it shoots to good for that now. I think what you suggested is a good idea for getting better at speed and accuracy. thanks!
  9. I just started shooting rack / falling plates at our range club. I started with 22Cal and 45acp open sites. What a barrel of Monkeys! Most of the veteran shooters also shot red dot class. I have a BHP 9mm and 3 pistols in 1911 / 45acp but do not really want to install a red dot site on these. My question is what would be a nice pistol to buy for large cal with red dot site or to install a red dot. I reload my own, already have 9mm and 45acp dies. Also live on the left coast of California. All I need is single stack, only 6 plates at a time. Thanks for all input!
  10. Thanks again for all the input. How do I find the sponsors you are mentioning and do they have web sites?
  11. Thanks for the info. I''ve been looking at the C-more's last nite and like that you can change the dot quickly. Also thinking that I purchased a quik change kit for 9mm a few weeks back for my Dillon 550. How can one purchase a 9mm open gun. Do certain pistol Co. make these or are they all custom jobs from top companies or pistol smiths. I take that a open gun is one that is lightened slide, compensator & red dot sights etc. Thanks for any input
  12. I am thinking of taking a Springer 1911 Custom SS 5in. and adding Red Dot sights for shooting plates. I do not know much about Red dot sights. What do you recommend and why. What reticle do you use and why. I am looking for fast acquisition and ease of use. Also are slide mount or frame mount the best option? Thanks for input. Pistol now has Novaks sights.
  13. I am looking for great shooting practice rounds. Somewhere in the 125 thru 130 PF range. Also I've read that lead should be kept under 1050 fps. I would think of leading the barrel at that speed but I do not know. I've never tried it.
  14. Thanks, very nice info all in one printable page. Lot's better than going back n forth in the manuals.
  15. Just recieved my 9mm quik change for 9mm. I have Clays & Titegroup. I've ordered 125 & 147 LSWC BearCreek Moly. I have 4 manuals. I show no data for clays and 147. Does anyone have favorite loads they would like to share with either 125 or 147? Also feet per second of load. I've read not to shoot over 1050fps with lead. I am looking for accuarate and soft feel. I currently use Clays 4.0grs and 200gr LSWC in 45acp. My springer custom shoots this at 803 fps. Love the feel of Clays. Also very accurate. The pistol for 9mm is a BHP reworked by Novaks. Thanks in advance for any input
