  1. I thought the reload in the open might be the issue. I am not so sure that is illegal though. In Appendix 5 of the rule book it states, "Reloads must be accomplished from cover if available". Key words "if available". One certainly cannot leave cover with an empty gun. However if one runs out of bullets while in the open I see nothing wrong with reloading. IDPA is supposed to be about real world. If I am in the open during a fight and run out of ammo you can bet your fanny I am going to reload as fast as I can. I view stages like the one in question as you are leaving cover when the bad guys appear. One would not leave cover if there are BGs visible. You would just shoot them from cover. IDPA needs to address this issue. They either need to remove the verbiage in Appendix 5 or allow reloads in the open without issue. Nothing wrong with not allowing one to leave cover with an empty gun. Eric, that is correct. You can shoot all three Divisions with a .45 LDA - gamer. A real man would never(gamer)down load a .45ACP though. There is something sissy(gamer)about shooting a 45 at a 130 PF. Do you think John Wayne or Bruce Willis would down load a .45? Beware of subliminal(gamer)messages.
  2. Well we may not have as many clubs, but we must be a lot smarter. The average winter temp in Alabama is 54 degrees. Today is going to be what we call a "killing cold". It is only going up to 48 degrees. My wife and I shoot an IDPA match every weekend - two on one weekend. Two are 90 miles away, one is 85 and our home range is 1 1/2 miles.

Headshot, are you speaking from experience? I don't think so. I have a Wilderness and an Uncle Mike's so I am speaking from experience. I have worn my UM belt everyday for the last 1 1/2 years. I have it on now. It works just as well as the day I bought it. Yes, it is just as good as the Wilderness at 1/2 the cost. I guess I am not as label sensitive as you appear to be.
  4. Just curious as to what was illegal about the stage.
  5. If the elongated hole is one of mine it is a double - not even a perfect double.
  6. A disappearing target in IDPA cannot have a FTN. Misses are a -5 each.
  7. +1 on the waste of money. It ranks up there with the titanium plunger.
  8. Or use 9 round mags that fit into the box and start with 10 in the gun. A 1911 shooting a 200 gr SWC at 675-700 fps is really soft shooting. Makes really big holes too. Plus it just drives the IDPA Purists crazy. I do it on occasion when I know some of the Tactical Teds are going to be at a match.
  9. I have corrected the feed issue on several Trojans. The ramp is not cut correctly - too steep. Same thing with the Springfield 9mm 1911. Kimber OTOH got it right the first time. My .40 Kimber would feed anything I threw at it. It was also the most accurate 1911 I have ever owned. It would shoot sub-one inch groups at 25 yds. with several different loads and bullets.
  10. Precision Delta has the best prices for non-lead bullets. They are cheaper than my dealer price for Berrys at Grafs, Berrys direct or Cabelas. I just shot some groups out of my two G35s with stock barrels. I am very pleased with the results. I just use plain lead bullets for practice. Seems like 180 gr lead bullets run me $26 per 1000.
  11. Eric, I would take a hard look at the Witness guns.
  12. Learn to shoot a Glock. You will then toss your 1911s away or give them to homeless people like I did.
  13. I have changed all of my competition Glocks (5) over to the Ameriglo sights. I am a little different in that I don't care for thin front sights. I must say the Ameriglo thin front is the best design I have seen though. I too like the lower sight sets. Some of the fronts I have seen look like sails. I use the big dot molded Hiviz front.
  14. Currently Precision Delta has the best prices on bullets.
  15. There must be something really wrong with my 550. I don't get these wild weight swings. I load Clays and Titegroup. Every time I check the weight the scale pointer sits right on "0" with both powders. Worst case it is half a mark off = .05 gr.
  16. I just noticed your gun has an adjustable rear. Did it come that way? I thought they all came with the "slide racker" fixed rear. I wonder if any one has actually weighed the gun.
  17. I once put a little over 1,000 rounds of lead bullets through a G34 just to see if the Internet dribble about lead in Glocks was true or not. There was just the slightest trace of leading. Two passes with a Bore Snake and it was gone. My wife and I have put over 30,000 lead bullets through our Glocks. No, we don't clean them every 100 rounds like the latest Internet dribble on Glocktalk suggests. Where did that nonsense come from anyway? My 9mm load is 3.5 gr of Titegroup behind a 125 gr Valiant bullet. Goes a little over 1050 fps. Two things are important with lead bullets. Does not matter if the barrel is poly rifled or conventional. 1. Proper bullet diameter. 2. Bullet hardness. An undersized bullet will lead like crazy. My current cost on 125 gr 9mm lead bullets is $21 per 1000.
  18. Gman, I have several stages ready for you at our State Match. All are 18 rounders. Thought I would make them 1911 friendly.
  19. Lead bullets are starting to look better every day, at least for practice. My current cost for lead 230 RN is $30 per 1000. 200 SWC is $28 per 1000.
  20. EAA said they would have the guns in stock by this Friday. Time will tell. I do have an interest in the Elite Match.

Here is the best buy in a belt. I like it better than my Wilderness belt. It is 1/2 the cost. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/...leitemid=828711
  22. LP, you may be waiting a long time for 230 gr Berry's at that price. My dealer pricing at Grafs is $75.51 for that bullet. It's $84.94 del. from Berry direct + lead surcharge. Precision Delta gets $86.50 del.
  23. For $49 you can get a FO front and wide notch rear from Ameriglo. The front is .100" wide. Lot cheaper than $75.
  24. MM, I called CZ yesterday about a short dust cover model. Nothing in the works according to the salesman.
  25. They must have been out. I usually get stuff from Aramark is a couple of days. Not picking on anyone, but why would I want to order one from www.ombexpress for $64.99 when I can get the exact same thing for $39.95 from Aramark?
