  1. I'm not trying to be devil's advocate, but it seems pretty clear to me. Anything besides and unloaded gun is forbidden.
  2. Why not just buy a gun already chambered for a cartridge that is suitable for hunting? A .44 Mag would be great, as would a .45 Colt loaded accordingly. I own and hunt with a 460 XVR. A bit overkill, but the neat factor is way up there.
  3. Give me a week and I'll let you know what to expect. I'm walking down the aisle this coming Saturday, 03/07. Wish me luck! I wish it to you!!
  4. I plan on concentrating mostly on Revo division this year with a 5" 625, but will be using my 5" 627 on occasion in Prod. to stay in tune for ICORE. Based on how I read the Production rules for holster position, it only has to be the appropriate type holster and stay behind the hip bone. What about angle of the holster? I'm using a Blade-Tech DOH with the muzzle canted forward which will be perfectly legal for Revo and ICORE, but can I keep it that way for Prod.?? It seems to me that I should be able to as long as it stays behind the hip bone.
  5. I viewed the Trijicon extensivley at the Dallas Safari Club show and was not terribly impressed. And for over $300.00, I'd definitly go with a Burris for the savings, bigger window, and lack of paralax.
  6. Judy, I too thought you were speaking of a child. But also understand the grief you feel. For a lot of us, pets can become as close as family. I'm still going to pray for your comfort in this time of loss, and hope other users can understand.
  7. I'm kinda going through the same thing. I've settled on a Blade-Tech DOH holster for both my 625 and627, and a North Mountain moonclip holder which will accomodate both.
  8. Hold on to GOD and I'll pray that HE holds you. I know that he already holds your beloved.
  9. I'll miss his "Rest of the Story". Interesting, yet educational. May GOD comfort and keep his family turning their time of grief.
  10. Bob Perdue sent me a set of Hogue Big Butt finger groove grips that provide quite a palm filling grip for me. And I have a fair sized hand.
  11. I had a tracker chambered in .17 HMR a couple of years ago that had a terrible action! I've never felt a Taurus with an action anywhere near that of a Smith. I'd take the Smith and deal with the pain in the wallet.
  12. Thanks for posting this info Jared. As I'll pass on this offer, there are several others that are very tempting!
  13. I really like the increased sight radius and therefore better sight picture gained from the 5" gun.
  14. My response is based on data from current loading manuals. Of course you can hot rod a .38 case into major, and a .357 chambered gun would probably handle it. But you run the risk of sticking/splitting cases, possibly blowing primers, etc. If you want .357 Mag. results, use a .357 Mag. case. Don't try sending a boy to do a mans work.
  15. You can get close with some bullet/powder combos, but .38 isn't going to safely make major. Better try some lighter to middle of the road .357's.
  16. There's not a bad looking gun in any of the posted pics. But this one gets me HOT!!!
  17. Gary, at your age, isn't three years about all you've got left anyway?? Just kiddin'. You've done a wonderful job!!
  18. I was playing with my 625 today and got the bright idea to try the Hi-Viz from my 460 on my 625 and really like the sight picture, but the sight seems pretty wide. Definitley wider than the .100 to .110" sights I'm used to using. Seems like it may be too wide when precise shots count. Anybody else using one? If so, what is your observation? Also, I'll be switching to an LPA rear pretty soon, and need to know what height front to use? It looks like my Hi-Viz is a .250. Will this work, or will I need a .300?
  19. If you still have the Hogues and want to sell them at a bargain price, shoot me a PM. Thanks. Bwana, Same for me on the Hogue release. Curiously, what didn't you like about it?? Also, how do you like the Burris Fastfire and what kind of mount is that??
  20. That don't look like no revolver I've ever seen?
  21. Is this your first .45 ACP revo? You may well notice a big difference. My buddy (like myself) is a long time 1911 shooter whom has recently been bitten by the revo bug (I kinda gave him a nudge in this direction). The first time he fired his 625 using the same loads he shoots in his 1911, his first comments were how much additional perceived recoil there was. Personally, I don't notice much difference when shooting side by side for some reason. But this weekend I fired a hair over 100 rounds of 168 PF ammo from my 625, and I was feeling it by the time I got done. Not excruciating, but noticable.
  22. After this weekend's practice session of shooting about a hundred rounds of 168 PF ammo from my 625 with Jerry grips, I'm going to try swapping the grips off of my 460 XVR to my 625 to see how I like that. That sobothane insert in the backstrap should make it pretty comfortable. It sure beats having steel slapping into the web of your hand.
  23. I'll be taking ownership of a dandy 627 pretty soon and am thinking about sitting it up for ICORE Open division. I'd like to see some pics of other's 'Open' revos to get some ideas. Along with any pics, please also let me know what kind of mods have been done that may not be visible.
  24. Who the hell has time for dry-fire practice?? Guys who cut hair for a living during the winter, that's who!! Some people grandure under the illusion that hair is a better insulator than a hat, thus causing much practice time throughout my day.
  25. Who is using snap caps for dry-fire practice? Who is using dummy rounds loaded in clips? Who uses nothing in the cylinder for dry-fire practice? Does it really matter which, if any, of these that you use?
