  1. Sorry to hear about this!! My best wishes and prayers to your friend for a speedy and proper recovery. If had a primer blow on me a few years ago. It was within the first week of owning my 650 and a single primer hung on me. Upon attempt to "help" it out of the tube, it blew and the cup was recovered 30 feet away at the end of my hallway. Taught me quickly to never try to dislodge a stuck primer!!
  2. If you're looking for a carry gun, why in the world would you consider any gun that requires tuning to be reliable????? Buy a Glock, M&P, XD, or even best of all, a revolver. You could nearly buy one of each for what it'd cost you to buy this gun and have it tuned. And you'd never have to worry about reliability. If competition is your interest, S_I's can't be beat! Takes a little playing to get 'em right, but once they are, sit back and enjoy.
  3. Don't bother! Gun has been sold.
  4. I'm sure that since your father was a Godley man, he will see the fruits of his labor come true. God Bless you and your family in your time of loss.
  5. I sure hope you're referring to barrel length!
  6. Actually, it's been on there for a while now. Not sure why? I'd own it if I had the funds! But currently I'm broke and some fictional fat guy in a red suit is getting all the credit!!
  7. My prayers for the both of you. Hold strong to faith.
  8. Thanks Jim!! I like Zero's a lot. Don't seem like much, but a savings of over $15.00 per thousand can add up quick. I'll follow up on your suggestion.
  9. Thanks a bunch for the reference, but I'd rather stick with FMJ's. I tried Precisions and just didn't care for the smears left in the barrel from a "coated" bullet.
  10. 4.0 Clays 230 FMJ Zero 1.250" COL Makes 167 PF in any of my 5" Single Stacks. Very controlable with no "snap" at all. Used to load Titegroup, but it's dirty and VERY temperature sensative.
  11. I'll be shooting .45 a lot in the future and want to find the best deal I can on quality 230 gr. FMJ's. I know with the soaring cost of metals that prices are on a near daily increase, but there must be somewhere at least a little cheaper than the last place I ordered from ($135.00 shipped for 1,000)!! Where are you getting your bullets from and how much are you paying??
  12. Hands down, the funniest movie I've ever seen!!! If you like nutty, semi-raunchy humor it's a must see.
  13. Prayer works!!!! I've been having my own physical struggle as of late which is keeping me off the firing line. Many have been saying some prayers for me and I've already seen how they can and DO work!!! Keep the faith. Medicine can be good, but GOD is greatest!! I'll keep you in mine!!
  14. Such a tragic loss. I met Scott in the pits at the Houston race in '96. He was a gentleman and very willing to take time for his fans. Prayers to his family.
  15. "I don't see how you can build it with forgings for the price. Does anyone know for sure?" I'd say it has something to do with the fact that Brazilian factory workers earn about the same amount per week as American factory workers earn per hour. Brazil is a third world country. Baers and Wilsons would carry a lower cost if the folks building them were earning .08 cents per hour! That and the fact that Taurus does everything in-house. They don't have to look "outside" for materials, parts, and labor. It's all under the same roof. I'm an STI fan for sure. Got two Trojans arriving today. But I've handled enough of the Taurus guns to know that I'd take on of them over a Spartan.
  16. Comp-Tac, without a doubt!!! Fobus is a small step above junk! Side Armor is nice, but if you're gonna shoot IDPA and USPSA, Side Armor may not be legal depending on belt attachment. I've tried them all, and Comp-Tac is easily the best!!
  17. HWY yes!! But only with the emergency flashers turned on!! Shaven, or natural?
  18. I'll be taking delivery of a new Trojan .45 next week, and wanna get in a lot of practice for little $$$. Therefore, I intend to purchase a .22 conversion unit to be able to take advantage of cheapo .22 LR ammo. My problem is that I've never had one. Which one should I buy? Price is no problem, just want top quality.
  19. My local dealer has offered me a good deal on a NIB Sig GSR XO 1911. I intend to get more serious in Single Stack competition this year, and am looking for a reliable, stainless 1911 to use at a decent price (I can get into this gun for less than $700). I've owned a few of Sig's guns in the past, and am well aware of their reliability, but never owned a GSR 1911. I either currently own or have owned Smith, Springfield, and Kimber 1911's. All have functioned flawlessly for me. Only problem is that they're all blued guns and I hate to expose my pretty guns to the rigors and abuse of competition shooting (guess that's why I've stuck with Glocks up 'til now). Therefore, I want my next 1911 to be of the stainless persuasion so I won't worry so much about finish wear and such. So, are the GSR 1911's up to par with the likes of Smith, Springers, and Kimber? Are there any problems any of you guys have encountered I should be aware of?? In experienced opinion, should I go for this deal, or wait for something else?? I know what many of you will say. And I'd LOVE to have an STI Trojan. But I just bought a new truck, getting ready to do some upgrades to the homeplace, and $$$ is a bit tight right now. Gotta go with the best price. What should I do???
  20. Several companies make SS guns in .40. As for mags, I'd go with Wilson.
  21. I've been shooting 4.4 of Titegroup. No problem making major in a 5" gun, and usually makes it in a 3" Kimber Ultra Carry. However, I've found Titegroup to be too temperature sensative and will be switching to Clays from here on out.
  22. Without a doubt, let John Nagel at SJC handle the project for you!!!
  23. Same thing happened when my P16 was new. Was about to pull my hair out until my buddy suggested trying some of his loads that were loaded long. I think in the neighborhood of 2.00". Once I did that, the problem was solved. Those damned Para's just won't cycle standard length ammo. That's why I sold mine. Really dude, you shoulda saved a few hundred more and bought an S_I. I shoulda done that myself. If I ever get back into shooting Limited, that's what I'll do. Meanwhile, I'm gonna shoot in single stack!!
