Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I use a hi viz front sight with a standard 1022 in a hogue stock. I also remove the plate in the factory rear sight to speed up aquisition. I find that the field of vision works great like this with a vision problem I am having . I also use the largest fiber optic rod available.
  2. Hoser, are you going to have Rimfire pistol and rifle this year too?? And what are the rimfire rules Open, limited etc. I am gonna try and bring my boys this year. Was bummed I missed it last year. Kevin
  3. This must be a terrible idea. I was looking at one the other day and realized sight aquisition could be slow and awkward.
  4. I am pretty new at shooting steel, especially with rimfire. I have seen pictures of people shooting steel matches with very long barrels and holding the barrel part of the gun with their week hand while shooting. That being said, I became curious of what the results would be with a Ruger Charger holding the gun in a very similar fashion. Has anyone ever tried this?
  5. I really like the tac sol stuff too. I just recently got involved with the rimfire shooting due alot to cost and having 2 boys that want to shoot as well. We are currently using stock 10/22's and a buckmark that I really like alot. I think over the years I forgot how fun it was shooting 22's. I ran into the Ruger Rimfire Series type matches on the internet and was really interested. I am going to look into starting one of these monthly matches at my home club as well.
  6. Eric, There is Ruger rimfire type steel match out at Big Horn Gun Club on the 4th Sunday of the month. My boys and I shot there last weekend. Was alot of fun. Mike who runs the match has several rifles with Tac Solutions barrels on them. I am sure he would let you try one. Email me if you want more information. Kevin kevinpagano@yahoo.com
  7. Hoser, are you having the steel match again this year? I am up for a trip back to Colorado. Hopefully will have a rimfire pistol and rifle Division.
  8. We are going to shoot our first match this weekend. I have shot IDPA and USPSA and enjoyed those sports. I love competition and this is a great format for a family to be able to afford the shooting sports together. I have 2 teenage boys and 1 teenage girl that want to shoot and could not justify spending a couple hundred dollars of shooting in a weekend in those other formats. College is sneaking up on me way to fast.
  9. Gregg, thanks for that I did not realize you could have 3 speed loaders on your belt. thanks
  10. I have been kicking the idea around of shooting SSR in IDPA . Having shot alot of idpa in the past until the last 3 years. I dont think a mandatory tac reload/reload with retention should be required anywhere on a stage. It should be used like the uspsa guys use dumping live mags on the ground to maneuver a stage. If it makes sense on the stage then do it if not dont. Also what happens when you have a stage that requires a tac reload and you mess it up leaving rounds on the ground and you have a 18 round stage do you run back and get those rounds off the ground. Or do they now allow a back up magazine or speed loader etc.
  11. Does anyone have a pic of the DOH from blade tech with their gun inserted. I would like to see what the profile looks like. I am thinking it might be a good option for my son.
  12. Does North Mountain have a website? I googled them and cant find anything.
  13. I want to shoot ipsc and shoot icore with the same equipment. Was wondering what you guys thought would be a good platform. Right now I have a 4 inch 586 witha safariland 002 holster. Icore is over 2 hours from me so I will be shooting ipsc mostly but would like to shoot some of the bigger icore matches there.
  14. Thanks for all the advise. I am or will be shooting a 4 inch 586. I just picked up a Safariland holster and will be aquiring some speedloaders and belt from them as well. I think I will start out shooting minor for now until i get geared up to load then i will start playing with some loads. I think focusing on the trigger and sights to get good hits for a while would be a good thing as I do not have much time behind a revolver and no time in a competitive environment. Since the gun I will be using was my fathers and I do not want to wear it out. I will be looking for another revolver to take its place. I would like to stay with the .38/357 format as I just like this round in a revolver. Would any of you suggest I move to a 6 inch gun? Thanks again for all the help and replies. Kevin
  15. Would I be better off just shooting minor in this division until I get a proper setup??
