fp45liberator Posted September 12, 2014 Author Share Posted September 12, 2014 Also, I have some Mec-Gar P18 mags (The kind that Dawson says won't work with their basepads) - and just for fun I slapped a Dawson basepad on it. As promised, it was not able to fit into my Rock TCM/9mm Out of sheer curiosity I dropped it into my .45 RIA (pictured above) and it fit perfectly. The mag locked into place, and the slide release went up when I brought the slide back. The magwell on my 2011 M1911A2 45 is higher cut into the frame of the pistol, where as my TCM/9mm is not. fp45liberator Posted September 21, 2014 Author Share Posted September 21, 2014 I did get my hands on a 9mm RIA 2011 Hi-Cap (the TCM/9MM) and it works great. Dawson's great mag extensions do fit with Mec-Gar P18 magazines - in fact they fed fine with the standard magazine spring. theKenny Posted September 21, 2014 Share Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) Just an update on my RIA that i sent back. The sent me a brand new pistol- the tcm/9mm target model which is great with me. I prefer those sights anyway. Ran it in two matches this weekend and no complaints. I do prefer a 10lb recoil spring though. no idea what the stock one is. Of course, one of the STI mags I fitted to the old pistol does not work now. No blame to armscor there. I have several tcm/9mm mags fitted with dawsons length not capacity extensions that no longer fit either. *update- I took the dawson .0200 basepads off the mecgar mags to see how much lack of clearance was. there was definitely enough room with the mag inserted for basepads. A bit of filing and they fit. As this is the Target model, I have a dawson magwell and that still fits so I wanted to use it. I ordered a few Para mags and I have another STI to modify later.
