  1. I have read numerous post about gas tube alignment with the BCG and its affect in accuracy. Also in regards to the tube touching the barrel nut. So I installed the gas block making sure it's perfectly aligned with the gas port in the barrel. When I do this the gas tube is pressed against the side of the opening in the reciever until the BCG is installed. I adjust the gas tube so it doesn't drag or hang as the BCG is closed. However when the BCG is out or cycled to the rear the gas tube is still touching the side of the reciever. If I bent the tube so it doesn't touch the reciever the BCG will bind on it. Should I be concerned with the tube touching the receiver? I have had this issue with three separate recovers and all seem to shoot 1/2 MOA at 100.
  2. Thanks, that pretty much answers my question.
  3. Thank you for the replies. I read the rule and "factory configuration" is very unclear and open to interpretation. Guess I'll play it safe and stick will a plain barrel.
  4. I have been trying to find out if a match grade drop in barrel for a Glock is IDPA legal if it is dimpled or fluted and TIN coated? One like the ZEV barrel, Black List Industries, Agency Arms, or S3F solutions? I know a drop in KKM is legal, just wonder if the fluting or dimpling is a no no. Thank you.
  5. I've been shooting 3 gun for 3-4 years now. Started with an MTAC scope then upgraded to the Burris XTR II 1-5. I have since added a second 3 gun rifle to my collection and need a scope for my 18" gun. I am torn between the XTR 1-8 and the razor 1-6. Cost is relatively close and weight is close. The center dots ar the same size (SFP Burris). I have had two failures with my XTR II 1-5, illumination failed, Burris replaced the scope, and now it has littl blacks specs all over the inside of th glass. The scope is currently being replaced again. This makes me a little hesitant to try another XTR II product. What is the general consensus?
  6. I have a 51679 and the STI mags fit without modification, they are a little snug at the top however.
  7. I was lucky enough to get in. I am wondering what the shooters banquet is all about? Having never shoot this match there is not much information online about the banquet.
  8. If a were to get in and pay, then for some reason could not make the match is any portion of the $300 refunded depending on how much notice is given?
  9. I got this scope in June, 4 matches and a bunch of practice latter the illuminated reticle failed during a stage today. Flashed on and off a few times then went out completely. Tried a known good battery and nothing. I am sure Burris will make it right but it is a little disappointing.
  10. I just want to confirm the dawson extended base pads do fit the mec gar para P18 magazines and they will fit in the 51679 model?
  11. I have sent two guns in to springfield custom and had their match barrels installed. Turn around time was about 4 weeks a few months ago. I am satisfied with the results. 6-8" groups supported at 25 yards shrank to 1.250" groups at 25 yards. Both guns can easily shoot under 2" all day. I would do it again.
  12. Just out of curiosity Mark why does Remington recommend to apply a light coat of oil to the gas pistons in the owner’s manual for the Versa Max if it is so bad? "17. Apply a light application of Rem™ Oil to the outside of the barrel, gas pistons, and O-ring with a soft clean cloth." From page 20
  13. Does anybody know of any stores in the Reno/Sparks Nevada rea that sell or STI magazines? Particularrly 9mm 140mm magazines and parts? Thank you.
  14. Just got one from Joe Bob Outfitters two days ago. Just signed up to be notified when it was in stock, took about two weeks before I got the notification.
  15. Just ordered one of these in 9mm. I want to convert it to STI mags. For those that have used the modified mag release from canyon creek, what is involved in fitting it to the gun and mags?
  16. I am shooting this same match. After looking at the stage diagram I am planing on loading 5 bird and 4 slugs at start. Then will load the buck and more bird as needed throughout the stage. That is until I can actually walk the stage and then I may change plans.
  17. That was mine concern as well, I was really hesitant to have it done because of that. It dosent affect it at all, when I am shooting steel or clays i dont even notice the rear sight.
  18. Jeff at c-rums can install an XS rear sight in the vent rib. I had it done to mine and it really helped with shooting slugs at distance.
  19. We did "Down and Dirty" in June and the best time at our club was 27.71. I think someone messed up the times that were entered on June 20th, All the times between 8.09 and 14.89 seem unobatainable to me. That sucks for the rest of those though, it will really though off our percentages and scew the classiifcation. Someone should contact Charles Sole and let him look into it.
  20. I will second the CMT billet uppers and lowers. I just switched all my JP components from a forged upper to CMT upper and the fit and finished are excellent. I haven’t shot it yet, but I do not anticipate it being any less accurate than it was. I am still waiting for the lower to go with it.
  21. I have one as well. I like it except the location of the adjustment screw. I would still buy it again.
  22. Mark What options are there for mounting a sling or bipod to the carbon arms handgaurd? Thank you.
  23. I am looking at replacing my 15.5" JP hand guard with a carbon fiber one, looking mainly at the Lancer carbon fiber hand guards. For those that have used them what do you think? Pros? Cons? I want to remove a little weight from the front of the rifle and also it will be nice on some of the higher round count stages having the hand guard not get so hot. How stable are they (flex, against a barricade, etc.)? Are they durable? Since the carbon is so smooth do they offer enough grip? For the Lancer round or octagonal? I am leaning towards round but the octagonal one looks pretty cool and I like the QD points built into the receiver extension. Using the search on here I really only found a few guys say they have held up for one to two seasons and they like them, not much more information than that. Thank you
