I was kinda expecting a gratutious nude/nookie scene too. Que the cheesey porno music..."bow chic-a-bow bow"... If she had only cleaned up their (bloody) tracks behind them. " Will she be pissed at me if I take her?I don't remember a Vampire theme at all to the "Omega Man" Yeah, she'll be pissed. Mine hated the beginning, hated what happened in the middle, and said the ending sucked. Definitely not for someone who likes "feel good" movies. I thought it was cool though. They did a good job of making New York City look deserted and there is a cool chase scene between a Shelby GT500 and a herd of deer....
Chills1994
Since the zombies had this super high metabolism, why didn't they just start feeding on each other? Or try catching the deer in nets or traps during the day and then coming out into the night or shadows to feed on them. The scene where Will Smith gets stuck in that snare, that might be a good case for having a sling on an M4orgery and a handgun holstered in a retention holster like a Blackhawk Serpa, all the dang time, if you're the last human living in NYC. If Will Smith had captured all those other zombies to experiment on them, you would think he would know enough that they are hiding in the heavily tinted buildings and would have shot the windows out. Of course, then, that would waste a lot of ammunition. And if a dog was my last friend/companion, I would have put an e-collar on it to keep it from running into darkened buildings. It's Hollywood, I know. I shouldn't analyze it so much.
Catfish
I hate it when they kill the dog. Interesting flick, other than killing off the dog, of course.
AlamoShooter
Funny thing about how my wife will start to cry at a movie when the dog gets killed. She know that I will give her a "Body count" of, Oh OK six bus loads of people off the cliff to keep from hitting the dog, and thats OK
Zerwas
I had been looking foreword to this movie for some time. I saw it yesterday. Was disappointed. I'd give it maybe 2 stars. Seemed slow at times and the bouncing back and forth from past to present became annoying. Wil did a good job in acting, but I guess I wanted more action. I never read the book (maybe I should), but I didn't care for the ending either.
Gary1911A1
Saw it Sunday. I liked it, but being familiar with The Omega Man I knew about how it was going to turn out. Would even go see it again which for me is saying something.
benos
I saw it over the weekend and liked it. Smith did a good job overall. It's gotta be tough to nail the role when you're basically the only actor in the movie. Although the ghouls were a bit overghouled, they sure made the movie a lot more exciting to watch than the dreary no-faced dudes on The Omega Man. And I'm a big fan of The Omega Man by the way. [ThreadDrift] And I've never read the book so I won't compare the movie to it. Which I normally don't anyway. A book's a book and a movie's a movie. As I typed that an analogy came to me that I never realized before. It's a like watching a sports game on TV, and not caring who wins. Without a bias, you see what's actually happening more clearly. shooterready
Took the wife on opening night. We both enjoyed the movie. I agree movie was a little slow, but the suspense seemed to give the movie balance. They did a great job on the set. Pretty impressive on the big screen. I give it 4 of 5 stars. Mark K
Just saw it a couple of hours ago. Not bad, still not sure if I liked it or not. I really like Will Smith as an actor, and thought he did a good job. Did anyone else catch the Hollywood Anti-gun dig? His daugher says to my "They have guns" she replies "it's OK, they are in the Army like daddy." As if only the Army and Cops can have guns. The other thing that bugged me way, for the last man in town, facing a horrid enemy, with appearent ability to arm himself however he wants - I thought he went around rather lightly armed. AND, when he is shooting the zombies in the house, the sounds they were using were from a linked ammo gun like a M-60, and when he ran out of ammo, where was a sound like a mini-gun running dry and the barrels spinning. Oh well..... Mark K.

Catfish
A buddy and I were talking about this very thing last night... You're the last man on earth. You're surrounded by zombies who are trying to kill you. And you're packing ONE AR with ONE mag and ONE HK pistol.... WTF?? Obviously there was lots of military hardware around - why not carry a SAW and a metric ass ton of ammo??? And, you're telling me that someone who had gone to the lengths of building a high tech, massively protected house with a lab down in the basement etc etc etc, isn't going to build a 'secret' tunnel out of the house in case the zombies get in?? Couple other things of note - I wonder how much Ford paid?? You had the GT at the beginning of the flick, the Expedition in the middle and the Escape at the end... I'm betting they put up big bucks. And gas?? Far as I know, gas goes bad after a few months, turns to laquer. So if he's pumping gas out of the gas stations 3 years later, is that stuff really going to work? Ah, well, that's Hollywood for ya.

Normally I drain any gas powered vehicle of any gas before long term storage but one car i have thats turbo'd sat for over a year with a half tank of gas. Put a new battery in it, cranked her over and it started right up. it idled a bit weird but it did get me to where i needed to go. i wouldn't wick the boost up with the old gas but it still ran. Back on topic. Now I know its a zombie/vampire flick, i may have to pass on it. Edited December 21, 2007 by yoshidaex
Nemo
Just got back from watching it with the kids. Gotta say Dr. Neville was right in one thing... Bob Marley's Legend is the best album ever recorded!! I don't think we'll ever again see a Hollywood movie without iffy stuff in it, so I choose not to pay attention to it and try to enjoy, and that we did. It was fun! Then again, it soesn't get any better than going to the movies with my two sons! If this is not the best Will Smith ever it must be very close. Fun, guns, vampires, explosions... I give it 4/5 stars!
