Alan Meek
EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA Here are pics of the prototype mags that Gary Smith (Caspian) received for their .40 Hi-Cap Receiver. Looks like there is a light at the end of the mag tunnel. Special thanks to Scout454 for getting me the pics. Alan second set of pics Finally a pic of the mag inserted into the gun. eric nielsen
The forum software [or Flex] is moving the path to those pics, I think. Here they are at a more manageable size. They look really good; the bases are way better than the skinny-base +2 pads.
jasmap
This is HUGE for Caspian. Good for them and good for the shooters.

dirtypool40
I hope it works out, I've been trying to work things from another angle and it is like herding cats. I hope Caspian really does jump in with both feet.
Flexmoney
Alan, Any bits of info about them you can share?
Alan Meek
Flex, All I know is these are based on the TZ (ACT) mags. Caspian had the manufacturer incorporate some mods to the mags so they would work in the Caspian frame. The base pads are Caspians design. Bruce Piatt and Travis feel they will be able to get 20rds into the mag. These two were the samples sent to Gary to check for dimensional correctness. They only area that the mags seem to have a problem is working in the Titanium frames that are out there. That issue is more of a problem with the Titanium frame and not with the mags themselves. The Titanium does not shrink during the casting process the same way carbon steel does so the mag hole is a litle tighter. From what I know when these hit the street they will be deserving of wearing the Caspian brand. Gary wanted to take the time and get them right. Alan Meek
Dave, Caspian is pursuing these to get them on the street. They are fully aware that there is an interest from the shooters. They did have some obstacles to overcome and I am hopeful that they have made it past them. Alan
Carlos
"All I know is these are based on the TZ (ACT) mags. " The feed lips on these mimic the very latest design of World Champ, Eric Graufel's magazines that are made for Tanfoglio by Mec Gar. Older designs had a sort of rounded feed lip (think of the AR-15 magazine) while the newer magazines for the top of the line Tanfoglio guns have an angle and a flat for feed lips. They also increased the thickness and strength of these mags in the last few years. This is an excellent and reliable design. Should prove very reliable in a well built Caspian. Glad to see that they are getting back into the Limited arena.

gunther
WOW and it only took 2+ years for something so simple. Will the 9mm/38 super mags change too, or keep the same design. Anyone know?

Caspian is working with a different Mag supplier in Italy to get their mags. Alan
