orangeride
My local club started a monthly outdoor night match. My normal day load 147gr bear creek moly and 3gr TG while normally not very smoky durning the day, seemed pretty smoky at night with a light mounted. I'm looking to work up a dedicated "night" load. I'm going to try 147gr xtreeme HP's, but I'm not sure on the powder. Any help would be nice. Shooting in a g34
dapribek
Power Pistol is not very smoky but it has a very bright flash which might not be great at night.
Guy Neill
Vihtavuori powders are fairly low flash. Guy
iflyskyhigh
My go to subsonic load for my G34 after hundreds of rounds of testing. Shoot it suppressed as well. I've shot it day and night and haven't noticed any smoke. It's cheap and accurate.I know most guys find the sweet spot to be the 135 PF range so this is a little high but still in the ball park. Shoots soft enough for me. I'm guessing it's the hot burning TG combined with the moly that's giving you a little smoke.147gr RMR PRNTitegroup3.4grs 968 FPS G34 (942FPS)COAL 1.150-1.160"ISMI 11LB SpringSet: 265 Created: 02/24/17 13:21PMDescription: RMR 147gr PRN 9MMNotes 1: RMR 0.355 FMJ/RN ENC 35597 147 0.675Notes 2: 3.4grs Titegroup Distance to Chrono(FT): 10.00Ballistic Coefficient: 0.212Bullet Weight(gr): 147.00Temp: 63 °FBP: 30.09 inHgAltitude: 0.00# FPS FT-LBS PF10 948 293.39 139.36 9 975 310.34 143.32 8 970 307.17 142.59 7 973 309.07 143.03 6 970 307.17 142.59 5 967 305.27 142.15 4 978 312.26 143.77 3 964 303.38 141.71 2 981 314.17 144.21 1 959 300.24 140.97 Average: 968.5 FPSSD: 9.7 FPSMin: 948 FPSMax: 981 FPSSpread: 33 FPSShot/sec: 0.8True MV: 972 FPSGroup Size (in): 0.00--------------------------------------------Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

One guy on my squad layed down so much smoke no one could shoot for 4-5 min. superdude
The new Sport Pistol might be worth a try. It appears to have low smoke. http://www.alliantpowder.com/products/powder/sport-pistol.aspx

Vmax606
The smoke is from the moly coating, not the powder. Use plated bullets if the targets are not too far and extreme accuracy is not required. Edited September 19, 2017 by Vmax606
missed it by that much
+1 plated extreme bullets you plan on using should reduce the smoke even with TG Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
bowenbuilt
After running into the smoke issue early in the Summer when the air became humid in the afternoon I found Sport Pistol to be the least smokey of all the more popular powders with coated bullets and smokeless with jacketed bullets. There was a dramatic difference If that helps.

I'm using it in my last batch of round and even in a lighted indoor range it has a very bright flash.

Switching to another powder will reduce the smoke, even with jacketed rounds.
