New 3G AR Dream Build

Hey all, 3 gun season here is Colorado will be over in a couple of months and i'm already thinking about off-season stuff. Looking to replace my primary AR as its getting a little tired. Was thinking it would be nice to know what guys (and girls) would build if they were going down that road. I know I could just buy a completed rifle from a quality company (but wheres the fun in that). So, if you're game, post your dream build. Would like to know all the components (receivers, barrels, triggers, etc), basically everything. Also, if you feel up to it, an explanation on why you would use what you listed would be cool.

Looking forward to seeing the info. Thanks

Your timing is excellent

From what I've seen, the bottom has fallen out of the AR market, and prices

are Way Below what they were before The Election.  I'm guessing, everyone

stocked way up on parts/rifles before the election, and are now stuck with

much less demand than they anticipated.

Should be able to get some real good deals on all AR parts   :)

I would like to put together a lighter rifle. Here are  some specs that I had in mind:

F1 3G billet matched receiver set

BSF 16" barrel

Doublestar Big Timber Break (to close the hand guard gap)

Lancer CF 15" octagon handguard  or Samson lightweight SXS 15" rail

Lancer fixed CF rifle length stock

Hiperfire 24C trigger

Iron City Rifle Works enhanced competition BCG

JP silent capture spring would be nice but not a necessity

JP adjustable gas block

Still kicking things around, as I research more about it.

American Spirit Arms side charging receiver set w/hard chrome carrier

Sharps relia bolt

Christensen CA-15 barrel

Brigand Arms Handguard

Precision Armament M4-72 comp

Fortis LA Stock

Venom Defense stealth grip

AR Gold Flat Trigger

yikes thats over 2k

once you go side charging you'll never go back (non reciprocating real deal side charging not some bull crap screw drilled in the side the bolt carrier folks are selling these days)

Lighter would be nice, my current rifle is pretty light but with the new stuff out there it could be lighter. Would love a PROOF barrel but very expensive.

Take a look at BSF. Basically the same thing as a Proof barrel but more reasonably priced.

Those are neat  but dang that's an expensive barrel still!!!

My dream-ish AR is in progress of being built right now:

Aero Upper/Lower (not dream, budget, but it works)

SLR Helix 15" Handguard

Hiperfire 24C (Eclipse would be dream but again budget)

Ballistic Advantage 18" Fluted SS Barrel

SJC Titan SS Comp

Mission First Stock

Ergo Tactical Deluxe Grip

Superlative Arms Adjustable Gas Block

Low Mass BCG

I built this about six months ago, it's amazing:

SMOS Arms upper/lower/handguard

SMOS Arms 13.7" mid length barrel

JP gasblock, SCS, ultra low mass BCG, 3 port comp

AR Gold trigger

Vortex Viper 1-6

This rifle is super flat shooting, low recoil, accurate, and looks great.

Just finished this one up, need to squeeze in some function test and sight in time before match on the 9th.

The faxon gunner barrel is super light out front and with the CF handgaurd the gun swings easy, hoping its as accurate as it is good looking!

What handguard is that!? I've never seen a CF handguard with slots, only tubes!

I just bought an SLR Helix which I'm sure I'll be happy with, but maybe the next build...

Nah I wouldn't recommend that one it's a made in china deal from delta team

You can see the stress marks where it fits on the barrel nut in the picture.... pretty thin material so at that length not sure how it's gonna hold up getting thrown in a dump barrel.

If it ever fails I'll grab another brigand arms, which is what my PCC wears and it's rock solid butttt 3x the price.

Just went through this. It started by removing a muzzle brake and then I took the whole damn thing apart and rebuilt it. This is what I ended up with...

JP Enterprises:

Forged VTAC recievers

2 port brake

Rapid config handguard

Detent adjustable gas block

LMOS carrier

Silent captured spring

BCM:

Bolt

Charging handle

Reciever extension

Stock

Grip

Barrel is Stretch 16 intermediate gas and the trigger is Geissele SD3G.

Top gun in the picture:

Piecing together a new build :D. Heck of a deal on a carbon fiber barrel, so why not. At least I'll look good, lol. Have 7 months left on my deployment so I'm gonna wait for sales/new products.

I actually built my dream 3gun rifle last offseason

JP brake

18" rifle length PROOF barrel

Seekins rail

forged upper/lowers

Warne scope mount

Vortex Razor HD 1-6

Elf flat trigger

Luth-Ar Fixed stock

Duerk fixed offsets

I wouldn't change a thing on this but with the Vortex being close to 2lbs it takes the rifle from 6.5lbs to 8.5lbs even with the proof. IF I had to do it again I'd find a standard 18" barrel with rifle gas and put the money into a Swarovski 1-6.

I'd only change a few things on this rifle to make it a "dream" build... Proof barrel, Swaro 1-8 in an Aero mount, SJC Titan comp.

Current:

  • Aero lower
  • Odin Works upper
  • Stretch 16 barrel
  • SLR adj gas block
  • PWS FSC556mod2 comp
  • BCM KMR15
  • Elftmann 3G trigger
  • JP LMOS/SCS
  • Trijicon 1-8

I already built mine! did it before light weight was the cool thing, so it's kinda heavy out front. While that's a little annoying on close stuff, I don't bounce around or swing past close stuff. The matched by me weren't won or lost on the transitions or splits, but on the tiny targets at 200+ yards. Not sure if that's still the thing since I haven't been serious in a while, but meh.

Lancer Lower

Timney trigger

Magpul UBR

JP 18" barrel with comp

JP adjustable gas block

Samson 15" tube

Trijicon 1-4 in PEPR mount

fancy paint by my buddy

If money was no object I would probably slap a trijicon 1-8 on it but so far it's done everything I ask of it and more. Comes in at I think 11 or so pounds, but I'm a bit heavier and slower than I should be, so it's not the rifle holding me back.

My HD rifle is 8" light barrel 300BO, 7" troy rail with a minimalist stock and red dot. super fast on transitions!
