  1. Have you looked into an XTR-12 worked on by Tooth & Nail?
  2. It's really personal preference and the style you're looking for. Some like it short and some like it long. I like mine long. The extra weight will help reduce muzzle rise slightly too.
  3. I understand you're not looking to hit out to 600 yards or anything and want to keep the weight down as much as possible but you might want to look into going for an 18" barrel with a rifle length gas system. It will make for a much softer shooting gun both up close and out to your 200 yards and more. I started with a 16" barrel because that's what I had at the time but eventually upgraded to an 18". Something to consider before dropping $300 on a barrel and 6 months later you want another.
  4. Every two to three thousand rounds is early but everyone has their own opinion on when to change them. I typically change my recoil spring every 10k rounds or a bit earlier along with the firing pin spring. The generally consensus seems to be 8-10kish. If you're shooting a lot of majors then you might want to change them sooner rather than later especially when they around $10.
  5. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm just now starting to get my factory MBX springs worn out. With only asking a few opinions and researched very little, I've found grams springs and followers seem to be a consensus but I very well could be wrong.
  6. I remember cruising Atlas' Facebook months ago and someone asked a recommended load for open. Adam responded with 124 JHP @1388fps for 168pf, 8.2 grains of silhouette at 1.170". He later said he was testing many different powders to see which worked the best so he might have a different recommendation for y'all.
  7. I agree with TonyTheTiger, and only run Cyl, LM, & IM. 90% of the time I'll never switch out the cylinder. Here's a great read with a lot of good in depth info and testing by Patrick Kelley on chokes and loads. http://www.multigunmedia.com/3gn-choke-and-loads.pdf
  8. It really depends on your budget. I skipped the DVC and went to a CK as they were give or take $100 difference at the time. If you've got the extra coin, I wouldn't hesitate to talk to Adam at Atlas at all.
  9. As per others suggestions as well, it seems you might want to try different brands of lube. I regularly shoot 3gun in below freezing, snowing, raining and the cold without any issues using slip 2000.
  10. Another +1 for the Decibullz, my only issue with them is that they mold by heating them up so the heat of my ears would make them become pliable and sort of work their way out. But I'm solely using them to double up now so that fixed the issue. I do know plenty of people who wear them by themselves though.
  11. I actually built my dream 3gun rifle last offseason JP brake 18" rifle length PROOF barrel Seekins rail forged upper/lowers Warne scope mount Vortex Razor HD 1-6 Elf flat trigger Luth-Ar Fixed stock Duerk fixed offsets I wouldn't change a thing on this but with the Vortex being close to 2lbs it takes the rifle from 6.5lbs to 8.5lbs even with the proof. IF I had to do it again I'd find a standard 18" barrel with rifle gas and put the money into a Swarovski 1-6.
