Just picked this up from my gunsmith last night. It's my first STI and I'm super jacked to be a member of the 2011 club. :goof:

That turned out awesome. Thanks for telling the world before your "friends"...

Sorry, big guy. I have shamed myself in front of the world and my friends.

And now I find out when a friend of a friend sends me a link. Lol. Btw, we're trying for another friendly shootoff in April after the steel challenge match. Rob does great work doesn't he? I just got my 2 back after some trigger work and tune-ups.

So 6" gun with bull barrel and full length dust cover, what does that thing weight?! How does it point/transition/balance? Recoil must feel very muted :goof:

The gun weighs 43oz with no mag. I have very limited live fire experience with it, do to ND winter weather. But I have run a lot of dry fire with it. My initial impression is that I notice very little, if any, difference in point/transition/balance over my single stack gun. The only time I notice a difference in weight is when the gun is loaded up with 21 rounds. Recoil is gentle so far, but there is still some spring and load development to be done yet.

I will try to keep this thread updated with my findings, as I found little to no information out there about limited guns in this configuration.

Yes, Rob does very fine work. He has been nothing short of great to work with through the build process and is very helpful with getting things dialed in now that I have it. Couldn't be more pleased.

So I shot the first match with my 6" this past weekend. These are my findings.

Recoil: Its almost unbelievable how little this gun moves. I shoots SUPER flat. It's what I'd imagine an iron sighted open gun runs like. It seemed like the slide(14.3oz) cycled a little slow compared to my Single Stack(13.1oz). I left it with my smith and he's lightening it further. I'll give an update on how that turns out when I get it back and put another match on it.

Transitions: I notice no difference in speed when transitioning this long thing verses my Single Stack gun. If anything, the extra weight seems to smooth out my "twitchiness" and help negate over-swinging targets. My first impression is that everything felt like it happened at the same speed but seemed smoother and more controlled.

Overall: I'm really digging this setup. The gun, by no means, shoots itself, but it's close. :D I might get addicted to Limited. If I can break the Single Stack habit of changing mags whenever I take more and a step and a half. I dropped a mag with 17 rounds WAY before I wanted to and mentally pooched myself for the rest of the stage.

I'll post more 6" FLDC info as I get it figured out. Thanks.
