fischeac
Anybody try a 9 lb recoil spring in their SP01 Shadow? If so, how does it run?
Jake60
Not a 9, but I'm running a 10lb with some 115pf loads. Runs great. Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
Less
For PF loads, 11 seemed the lightest I'd go.
Walküre
When my Shadow was new, it wouldn't cycle 100% with a 10# spring; it would occasionally end up slightly out of battery. I ran a 12# for a long time. Years later, I'm able to run a 10# and now do so. I don't know that I would go down to a 9#.
ardo
Years ago, I tried a 9lb spring with my minor PF loads. Worked for 2 mags worth of ammo, then the slide stop broke. Have been running with 11lb spring since.
Quack
IIRC CZC Shadows (Accu, Target, Custom) use 11#
2MoreChains
I tried a 10 lb spring for a little bit. Didn't like the way the gun felt so went back to the 11 lb'er.
d_striker
Years ago, I tried a 9lb spring with my minor PF loads. Worked for 2 mags worth of ammo, then the slide stop broke. Have been running with 11lb spring since. I can't remember where I heard this but I remember hearing that the slide stop is subjected to impact when the slide closes rather than when it cycles back. The source was saying that the slide stop on cz's takes more of a beating with a heavier recoil spring. Can't remember where I heard this or if it's true. himurax13
I run 10# with 135/147g 130 PF loads. I find that to be more reliable than 11# or 12#. If I am gripping the SP01 as I should, there is little to no muzzle flip. Edited October 22, 2015 by himurax13
fischeac
Thanks all for your responses. I am going to buy a 10# and 11# springs to test out.
johniac7078
not worth sacrificing reliability.
himurax13
I just dropped down to a 9 lb spring on my CTS Shadow. The 10 lb spring was way too sluggish and I actually had one stage where the slide stopped right after the round was stripped out of the mag. I will give it a whirl at the next match. Jayohee
Any particular reason you want to go down that low? 9lbs just seems too risky.
himurax13
Umm, my 147g load is running a 133 PF and the slide is running super slow on my CTS. The CTS slide does weigh a little more than an ounce more than an SP01 slide as well.
jayjay1
I´m using a 11lbs. after trying all from 9 to 13lbs for a while. 9 and 10 seemed very weak to me, the pistol was falling "downward" with the muzzle after every shot somehow. And, after a while, I could see heavy marks at my recoil buffer, which I had installed for this. Just as felt, I think the 11lbs spring is the best compromise. Soft recoil, fast back on targets, no big jumping or diving of the muzzle when shooting.
himurax13
Well I ran the 9lb spring on my CTS at the IDPA match today. With 135 PF loads it ran beautifully. My triple taps were nice and tight. Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
rpm8300
With 147gr at 128pf, you'll be ok with 9lbs but I recommend 10 or 11.

rpm8300
Its runs fine, try it - lots of CZ prod shooters here, most everyone runs 10 but some run a 9.
