selecw
The finish is getting pretty worn from lots of dryfire and matches, plus it's going off for slide lightening. I saw a rifle at a match over the weekend which had been finished in layers of Cerakote and Gunkote. Don't know why, but it looked great ! Has anyone come across this technique? Also, if you've refinished your Tanfoglio, let's see some pics Thanks!
haiedras
Yes, I sent both my s3s to Robar for a two-tone np3/roguard finish. Cerakote is fine, but it will definitely chip over time, since it's basically baked on paint. Robar does your entire gun plus one mag for...315 iirc. Yeah, it's a little high, but it's legit. aceinyerface
I have a different idea. Make your goal to wear that gun out. All the scratches and finish loss are trophies, don't hide it. Spend your money on more ammo.

Ehh, no not exactly. It will ware faster than some other finishes on metal on metal contact points, but it is overall a very durable finish, especially when it's price point compared to a lot of other finishes is considered. You could cerakote your frame and slide both 3-4 times for the price of some other finishes out there.
johnbu
Maybe I've not seen enough, but aftermarket finishes never seem to hold up as well as factory. Aceinyerface's idea gets my vote. Revel in the wrinkles from life! Then again, I'm old and wrinkled.

Fair enough, I hadn't planned on refinishing either guns, but developing surface rust less than 24 hours from exposure to light rain isn't my idea of a good time either. Yes, I know how to prevent that. I also learned cleaning is overrated, and I'm lazy.
C-Money
I like the Dan Wesson Duty Treat, but I don't know if they do it for other brands' guns. My Specialist looks brand-new after thousands of draws, reloads, and generally being exposed to my tender mercies. My Stock II looks like crap after 3 months of ownership. I believe Hard Hat is similar to Duty Treat. That's what I hope to do with my Stock 3 once I have some spare money to play with.
haiedras
Now that I think about it...maybe I'll aervoe it the next time the finish starts to go. Modernized rattle-can process.

idHawk
If it is going to get dry fired quite a bit, and will be subject to scratches, you might want to consider a weathered look. Here is a link to a thread I posted about a 2011 that I had fnished for 3Gun. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=210714&hl=
PatriotDefense
A few of my personal projects i've been working on, both done with cerakote. The Stock III is burnt bronze and armorer black, and the grips on the gold team are not staying.

PatriotDefense
Thanks, i did those my self. We build precision bolt/AR platform rifles, although my new found love of USPSA shooting got me involved with these tanfos in my free time. They're a really nice pistol platform. bayougump
That Stock III looks awesome. Love that Burnt Bronze color. Who did that for you or did you do it yourself? I had a Stock II cerakoted to mimic the Extreme look and I was disappointed in how it held up. The cerakote started to rub off with dry fire. I wouldn't cerakote a Tanfo again but that's just me. This is one I saw online done all black. It looks pretty good
