recoilchamp
Saw that USPSA production rules were clarified that extended mag releases are legal in production as long as they only extend length and not width. Sounds like the LF Arms and Catalyst mag releases are legal then?

insertgenericid
I sent out an email regarding the Catalyst specifically. Will post response.
USA
The Mod 1 with stippling is probably not allowed because of the stippling.
nwhpfan
I say they are both illegal. I think if it's not OEM; then it has to be just like OEM - only it can be longer.
wgj3
The OEM release has texture to it... Why can't a longer one with slightly different texture and the same surface area be ok?
nwhpfan
slightly different texture I think that is the reason....It's "different." I think the rule is that it can be longer...that's it. Edited August 16, 2015 by nwhpfan
wgj3
What if I file it smooth and recreate the pattern of the original release?
FightFireJay
Nope. It has to be an "OFM" part, original firearms manufacturer. Not made by Smith, won't be legal. Please read the link provided above. The rule allows for mag releases from other guns by the same manufacturer to be substituted under certain conditions. The extended factor glock mag release from a G34 being installed in a G17 is one example. So unless the mag release from an M&P 45 will fit in the 9mm/40S&W, I think we are "S.O.L.". vixty
Jay your mistaken. The new rule clarification stats that a mag release can be made by any Joe as long at the surface area isn't bigger than an OEM release. It can be as long as you want it, provided that it fits in the box.
zhunter
Installed my extended mag release on my P-09. Wow what a difference. Had no idea how to do it, took less than 5 minutes to figure out and install.
