Did you use these screws for your Shadow 2 rear sights? Only reason I ask is I see that CZ Custom claims these screws work, but their website also says the screw takes a 1.5mm wrench, but the screws on my S2 takes a 2mm wrench. Also, in another thread on Enos, someone claimed that the M3x4 screws worked in their S2 trigger as the set screw. My trigger set screw takes a 1.5mm wrench so that might make sense.

Do you remember the size of the rear set screw and where you got another? I need to get a replacement.

Looking for recommendations for shorts suitable for the shooting sports that have a 7 inch or less inseam. Bought some Tru-Spec 24/7 shorts to try, but they extend down over my knee caps. No bueno. Thank you. ETA 24/7's have 9" inseam, and I am 5' 6" tall.

Does seem a little ridiculous, but this is the first year they tried such a thing. I'm pretty sure he is going to tweak it next year so this does not happen again.

Regarding the lanyard loop, I think if he had purchased the plug without the loop and installed it, it might be legal since I believe the lanyard-less plug is standard on the P07, which is production legal. My guess though is others say the way he did it is illegal because instead of replacing it with another factory part, he grinded the loop off. Curious what others think on this.

I wasn't providing an opinion on whether he'd be caught or not. I was just trying to correct the record. Contrary to what some are saying, he didn't swap one factory part with another. I agree that that would be fine. He removed material from a factory part. Some people are saying that is illegal for Production Division. I just reviewed the rules, and I think I agree with them since the rules say modifications are not allowed unless specifically authorized. In other words, you can't infer it's legal unless that type of modification is specifically mentioned. No where in the rules does it say you can remove material from a decocker, or for argument sake, a factory safety. The rules also don't say, it's legal unless the RO catches it, but I guess you could say that is the practical result. I didn't look at his pictures so I have no idea how much material he removed.

I think the issue is he removed material from a factory part, i.e., he modified it. He did more than just swap it out. Removing material, even from a factory part, is not allowed since I can't find it being specifically allowed per the rules. He didn't replace decocker with safety. He removed material from decocker.

Magazine issue aside, even travelling to MA with a firearm for a match seems risky if you are a non-resident. I was hoping to attend this year, but I don't want to become an accidental felon.

Where in MD are you? They have 3 gun at Thurmont. Otherwise, I think you're looking at PA or VA for 3 gun matches.

RiggerJJ, what station are you putting the trimmer on? Also, do you back out the swage rod if you are not swaging on the processing toolhead? Does it hurt the swage rod if there is no backup die installed?

Yea, sorry, I was talking about USPSA Production Division. IDPA has a much more generous weight limit. In USPSA Production, I can only add an additional 2 oz. of mods to the stock gun. According to USPSA, the stock M&P9 weighs 27.2 oz. so my max weight is 29.2 oz. Adding the tungsten guide rod alone is adding more than 1 oz. already. I think swapping the Springer base pads with stock pads adds a net .7 oz., but my other mods must weigh more than .3 oz.

I weighed my gun tonight. With Apex/10-8 base pads, my gun is already at 28.99 oz. Adding Springer base pads will surely put me over the limit. I guess my other mods besides the tungsten guide rod must be adding appreciable weight.

Milk: You made weight with the Springer base pads? Are you using a tungsten guide rod?

I have a compact stock, and I can confirm that the butt pad on full length stock does not fit on the compact stock for the reason described above.

Thanks for the info Randy. I experienced the issue regarding the rounds not clearing the barrel during admin unload, but it was sporadic and seemed to go away, especially since I started jacking the slide really hard to get the round out. I also experienced failure to chamber a round, but I believe it was only when the magazine was fully loaded with 17 rounds. The ammo I used was PNC 115gr and Atlanta Arms 147gr, both of which are round nose. I shot less than 100 rounds the first time and figured the barrel had to break in. Also, I did a plunk test at home and noticed that Atlanta Arms would not touch the rifling, but PNC did, but I did not use a caliper to confirm the length of either cartridge.

How do you adjust the height and angle separately? I just use a flathead screwdriver and rotate it inside the loop to open it. I use needle nose pliers or a hammer to close it. Also, how do you test the trigger bar for proper function? I push the slide down towards the frame so that the sear has the longest way to travel to trip the striker. If it trips the striker without fail, then I figure it's okay. I also check whether the USB is interfering by just sticking a pencil in the barrel and seeing how far it is launched. If the pencil flies up and almost hits my ceiling, I figure that's okay too. I thought the above video showing the USB clearing into the slide before hearing the striker fall as a pretty good way to test timing. I didn't think of that before. Curious how you check proper function and timing. Thanks.

The front sight is tight. I applied some lube. I also just used hammer and punch. That being said, you have to make sure you remove sight from left to right when looking from the rear of the gun to the front of the gun as the dove tail is tapered.

Out of curiosity, are you guys using stock recoil springs and guide rods or aftermarket ones like SSS Tungsten with ISMI spring? Apex said they only tested with stock guide rod. I don't use one and don't want to go back to using one. I presume it should work fine, but curious if anyone else has already tried it with good results.

People knock the M&P because, among other things, its trigger, but I look at it as a positive. Until recently when Apex started branching into other platforms, what other platform besides the M&P could you customize the trigger to your exact needs. In one platform, I have a flat faced trigger for limited/3-gun, a competition action enhancement kit for production, and a Apex sear, USB and polymer trigger with stock springs for everything else. I have also used the DCAEK in the past and was happy with it. To me this is a virtue of the platform and not a deficiency. I also like that the M&P has a low initial purchase point, which allows me to own multiple ones. And, in my opinion, the latest iteration of the stock trigger is not bad, albeit kind of heavy, and they have addressed the reset, which I think is overrated anyways at speed. With respect to accuracy, it's been a long time coming, but it's finally been addressed, in spades! That being said, I've shot my M&Ps for years in matches and didn't feel handicapped, granted I'm not a GM or anything like that. And once I get the Apex barrel, I'm hopeful it will provide superior accuracy to many platforms that cost much more, like custom hand fitted 2011s, etc. I understand the 2011 has other things going for it, but at what price? Yes, I wish S&W made "better" choices in certain areas, but as the M&P has matured, I love the way it feels and shoots, that it is inexpensive and reliable, and that I can customize it the way I (emphasis) like it without breaking the bank. If there is anything you don't like, someone has probably made something to change it. And just because you don't like something doesn't make it a flaw. It's personal preference. I know a lot of people like to buy a gun and be done with it and get upset when they have to spend more money on it. That doesn't bother me. The changes people make to the M&P are probably changes everyone else would make to another platform, except perhaps the barrel, but even then I see a lot of people with aftermarket barrels in platforms that are supposedly accurate out of the box so who knows. That being said, I think the Sig P320 is probably a nice gun too. I've only handled it at a gun show and read about it. But whatever advantages the new polymer guns may have that have come out since the M&P, they haven't been enough to make me go through the trouble of switching, and I can't emphasize this enough, I have a ton of M&Ps that are all slightly different, intentionally so, yet share a common platform. You can probably do the same with Glocks, but I wanted to buy from an American firearm company. That being said, I've gotten over that too. LOL. I'm considering CZs too, not to replace my M&Ps, but just to give DA/SA guns a try. The CZs seem to be a good value gun too.

Second. Glad to hear 40S&W barrels and 40S&W to 9mm conversion barrels will be coming out next year too. Sweet!
