Shooter Grrl
So RB decides that I can't have a new AR because I can't shoot 3-gun cause my shotgun skills aren't up to par! We decide that we both could use some work on the shotgun so we head off to the range to try trap today. He's shot it twice before, both times as a kid. You ready for this... my Mom had told me on the phone that I would be really lucky if I broke more than 5 my first time out, so I'm expecting total humiliation But nope, not me! It would appear I may actually have the right to be called SHOOTER GRRL I broke more than 5! I broke more than 10! Hell, I EVEN broke more than 15 Final count was 16. 2 MORE THAN RB! warpspeed
Way to go Grrl! I love to shoot trap and 16 your first time out is fantastic! With a little practice, you'll be at 25 straight in no time!
tightloop
You Da Grrl...... that is great...keep it up and it'll be straight B4 you know it..
Shooter Grrl
It is a good thing I'm a Grrl. The guys were all really nice, even though I was shooting a "funny" gun. One should not show up at a NICE trap range with a Remy 1100 20 ga painted red, white and blue with a 10 round extension welded on it
Larry White
Way to go Kath, both you and the little gun that could. Larry
Nik Habicht
Does that mean they'd really frown on my pistol grip stocked and beat to shit 870 with the sure-fire light on the foreend? 16? Way to go! You still need an AR.....
Shooter Grrl
You still need an AR..... Hopefully this week Nik! I just need to find the time to drive to Memphis to get it. I definitely *WON* that argument
hopalong
SG, Now you went and told on yourself, you won't be able to sucker me into a friendly round of trap with you Good going. Hopalong

TriggerT
I shot competative trap in High School and College, and really enjoyed it. However, everytime I now shoot trap it just seems so slow compaired to IPSC / USPSA. Any shooting sport is great, and let's face it trigger time is trigger time. rhino
Way to go, SG! I've only shot trap once, and although I don't remember how many I hit, it was less than 10 for sure. You rock!
Larry White
Yeah, and she did it with a 20 ga 1100 LW with a 23 in barrel and a mod choke. Larry
rhino
Makes me want to go bust some with my 1100 12ga with modified choke, rifle sights, and a 10+1 tube! HAH!
SiG Lady
I think I know the feeling--at least in theory: I just yesterday told my range owner to keep an eye out for a 20 gauge for me because I wanted to shoot trap next summer...! The 'new addiction' must be in the air. Way to go, Kath!! Seriously!! I may now pester the crap out of you asking questions.
reneet
Good Shooting Kath! That's an amazing 1st score esp. with the equipment you were using. I've never had the opportunity to shoot Trap before. I've shot several rounds of skeet and some sporting clays as well as the shotgun events @ STC (Sportsman Team Challenge). They're all big fun. ErikW
Sixteen is an awesome first time score. Now go shoot sporting clays before your head gets too big. (The best first time trap score I saw was 24. We all wanted to throw our guns away and take up knitting.)
sargenv
Grats on the 16 SG.. I found out that you can really piss off a dedicated trap shooter by shooting a 21 behind his 22 when all you had was an H&R 20 gauge Topper model single shot with an exposed hammer and he was shooting his big flashy single barrel Beretta in 12.. JD45
Wow. Not many people can break 10 the first time. I wish you many future 25 straights and plenty of trips to the Grand American.
lynn jones
great job kathy. btw my first and only time shooting trap i shot 24 ouf 25 hadn't been back since. the skeet thing is another problem. the clays forget about it. lynn
Liota
Kath, Now that you've shot trap, go shoot sporting clays. What a rush! Very cool, almost as much fun as USPSA/IPSC. Liota
ErikW
Yeah, if we could run from station to station on the timer, that would rule!
tightloop
I second Liota's suggestion...go shoot some clays...makes trap look like you are watching the paint dry...
Shooter Grrl
The expert shotgunner in my family (mom!) told me not to start with clays. She said once I could consistently shoot half in both trap and skeet, THEN go try clays. The other thing is, there's not a whole lot of clays courses in rural tennessee!!!!! Doggorloader
Fantastic score! It can only get worse from there Just kidding. Here is a link from a site I know for courses in Tennessee: http://www.shotgunsports.com/ctenness.htm Good luck in your new sport...it is an addiction.
