rhd2542
Need some 10 round dependable mags. for my SS. Who makes the best ones?
open17
OK---Your question is a little sketchy, so I'm making some assumptions. SS is Single Stack? You can't fit 10 rd 45 mags in the box, so I'm assuming you are shooting a 9MM 1911. My favorite in a 10 rd 9mm 1911 mag is Tripp. Some swear by Wilson. Nik Habicht
I like the Wilson 10 round mags for the 1911 chambered in .45. That said -- if buying them to compete in USPSA -- you'd need to shoot L10..... I also like the Wilson 8 round mags for full size .45s, and Wilson 7 round mags for the officers length frames.... I never found a batch of 9mm 1911 mags I was totally happy with, and have no experience with the 10mm or .40. If I was looking for any of those calibers now, I'd look at Wilson (past Experience) and Tripp (reputation)....
Singlestack
I like the Chip McCormic 10 round .45 mags.

PKT1106
10rd mags can be used for Single Stack if shooting minor, I believe.
ChuckS
10rd mags can be used for Single Stack if shooting minor, I believe. The gun AND mag still have to fit the box, or you are shooting Open.
40S&W
Go with the Tripp 9mm 10 round mags.
BillD
And if, on the other hand, you actually want 10 rd .45 mags, the Chip McCormicks have functioned fine in my guns for years, never an issue. Occasionally, I'll shot L10 or use the larger mags in 3 Gun.
Waterfowl-widowmaker
Tripp is the way to go.
Dwain C. Baer
My ten round Wilson magazines have functioned properly, and haven't cracked around the top like some other ten rounders.
sbo76
I run the chips but have to clean them often to function reliably. I have run the wilson's with success as well in both 8 and 10rd .45 but would have to favor the Chips in the 10rds.

Never failed.
Dwain C. Baer
I do like Chip McCormick magazines also...just forgot about them before!
Ryan N
I like the Chips, but I have had the follower fly out of the mag after hitting the ground during a reload. This has happend several times with differnt Chip mags(all 8 round power mags). My favorite mags for 45 are Wilson, 9mm is Tripps. Chip mags are great for the money(especially when they are on sale at Midway). Edited September 4, 2011 by Ryan N
Baileyj925
I have had good luck with my Wilson mags, but I haven't ran with them in a match yet. Wonder how long factory Kimber mags would hold up without a base pad?
bruised lee
Hmmm. I run the Chips too and have never had to clean them or change mag springs. +
RePete
If you're shooting 9mm or 40S&W/10mm, all minor, then Tripp Research makes 10rd mags that fit the box - System Mags.
RDunn
i havent tried the wilson in 9mm. i have them in 45 and they are great. on the other hand, i have tripps and 9mm and they are fantastic. but i havent tried the wilsons in 9mm. lol Edited September 10, 2011 by RDunn

Never failed. I use mine alot. I probably shoot 3 matches a week. They worked fine for the first 2-3 months but require cleaning every couple of weeks. Or maybe im just confused and they really don't cause the gun to jam. Idle. I like the checkmate follower design better and will get them for my next set. famous187
I use the Chip McCormick 10rd mags. They have performed fine for me but I currently only have 500rds between two of them.
TM262
I love my Wilson Combat mags. They cost a little more, but they work very well in my SS.
GoinHot
I have been very happy with Wilson mags for my 45 in both 10 and 8 round size. For the 9mm 1911 the Wilson mags are good but I like the Dawson mags better. I'm going to try the Tripp mags for it also, sounds like the guys have been happy with them. lawboy
I use Chip 10 rounders in L10 and Wilson 8 rounders in SS and CDP. Both brands have worked very reliably for me.
