  1. I have a set I put on then took off my Gen 4 G34. I like to cover what I want to hit, so they shot high for me and I have a tendency to shoot a little anyway.
  2. How many do you need? I have three (maybe four) that are like new.
  3. I have tried them all. Currently using the new McCormick 10 rounders. Full disclosure.....I did remove one coil from each magazine spring to ensue the mags seat when loaded with 10 rounds. The mags have been 100 percent reliable in two Dan Wessons and one STI Lawman.
  4. In addition, the slide lock on many 2011s has a tendency to prematurely lock the slide open with one round left in the magazine, that said, I want my slide locks on my 1911s to operate as designed.
  5. 3.8 grains of WST under a 135 grain cast or coated bullet works great.
  6. Yep this is what I did on mine. Using the .160T allows you to lower leaf on the rear sight so it is not cranked up so high, but still allows plenty of room for adjustment.
  7. VV 320, WST, Solo 1000 and Ramshot Competition.
  8. Remove your rear sight. Using a sharp punch, kick up four or five burrs on the underside of the sight base. Place a few drops of Blue Loctite in the slide rear sight dovetail (do not get any Loctite on or around the firing pin block). Replace the rear sight in the dovetail. Apply a little Blue Loctite to the set screw and install in sight. The Blue Loctite is strong enough to ensure the sight will not come loose again, but will allow you to remove the set screw and sight if necessary. Or just replace the rear sight with a quality aftermarket.
  9. Look at the long throat as a "positive" on your DW. The long throat is what allows you to shoot cast bullets and coated bullets (which are generally larger diameter than jacketed bullets) without problem. I shoot a lot of cast bullets and currently possess and use throating reamers in 9mm, 40 cal and 45 acp. I have never seen any degredation in accuracy in a handgun due to a deeper throat. As far as magazines are concerned, I went down the 38 super mag road a few years back and ended up going back to 9mm mags. There are a lot of high quaility 9mm singlestack mags currently being produced. Tripp, Metalform, Dawson Percision and Wilson are at the top of my list. I currently use the Metalform Springfield 9 rounders and the Metalform 10 rounders. Welcome to the 9mm singlestack world.
  10. I load 4.2 grains of WST under S&S casting coated 125 grain bullets. My OAL in 1.35.Great 9mm load.
  11. Glad it worked out well for you. I suggest not trying to push the AA&7 to it's max published vorticity. If you do, and happen to run into some expanded 10mm primer pockets, you may get some blow back around the primer causing breach face damage. If you run into a primer that seems to seat way to easy, you may want to pitch it. Don't ask me how I know.......
  12. 10 mm is a little different animal than other straight walled handgun rounds. I would stay away from plated bullets in a 10mm if you are trying to exceed 1000 fps. My new go to 10mm powder is Longshot under Speer 200 grain "pulled" jacketed bullets and Longshot is on the store shelves at least where I live. I experienced a little breech face pitting using Winchester Primers and Accurate # 7 in 10mm so I changed to CCI large pistol primers and the pitting stopped. Still using Winchester pistol primers in all my other handgun calibers (45, 40 and 9mm). Overall length in 10mm needs to remain pretty standard @ 1.250 to 1.260 for reliable feeding in semi auto handguns. When I really want some wallop I use a 220 hard cast bullet traveling @ 1150 fps. Now there is a bowling pin load..... Using the proper powder, you can load a 10mm pretty light. I have used WST under a S&S Casting coated 180 grain bullet to create a tack driver load. OK, enough of me spouting off and back to your original question about 10mm starting loads. Always stick with the powder manufacturers loading recommendations. There is a bunch of interesting 10mm information at the following websites, just remember many of these guys are exceeding recommended limitations http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=67 http://10mm-firearms.com/
  13. Unless S&W recently changed how they install the M&P front sights, there is no set screw. The front sights are press fitted into the dovetail. To repeat what bockerSV already said, the front sight can be a little difficult to move/remove.
  14. Sometimes we USPSA shooters only look at new offerings from firearms manufacturers through our USPSA colored glasses. I would guess that 98ish % of handgun buyers never heard of USPSA. That said, most of that 98% have a totally different standard on what constitutes an acceptable trigger or accuracy. S&W seems to be marketing the M&P line quite effectively, just not to the USPSA crowd.
  15. I perfer Storm Lake Machine over the slow twist in the KKMs. My 5 inch Storm Lake Machine barrel will shoot 115s, 125s, 135s and 147s equally well. I also have a late 2013 Pro 5 inch with the new S&W twist rate. It shoots just as good as the Storm Lake machine.
  16. Your rounds are sliding forward just enough to bump the slide stop up, locking the slide open. The easiest fix is to replace the slide stop with a 45 ACP slide stop that does not protrud as far into the frame. You can also trim the nose of your current slide stop. The followers in your Tripp mags are configured such that they will work with a 45 ACP slide stop but some other 40/10mm mag followers may not.
  17. I use 4.2 grains of WST under a 125 RN grain lead bullet. Overall length is 1.125-1.130.
  18. I run 3.6 grains of WST. It makes 134 PF out of my M&P 40 Pro.
  19. I happen to know both Waki brothers.....great guys and great shooters. I am pretty sure they quite making the Waki rear sights some years back. I understand you not wanting to mill your slide for aftermarket sights, but i think you would be better off in the long run to just bite the bullet and get it done. As for Bomar.....they have been out of business for a few years, but many manufactures produce quality "Bomar Style" rear sights.
  20. Start out with 4.3 grains of WST....you will be pleased wiih the result.
  21. Kind of reminds me of the guy that puts $3000 worth of wheels and tries on a $500 car. He still has a car $500 car. Don't get me wrong.......I like the M&P platform for what it is and what you can do with it. I have purchased six M&Ps and currently still have five of the six. OK, OK, maybe I have slicked a few of them up a bit.
  22. You may be allowed to shoot the 10 round 45 ACP mags loaded with 8 rounds at local matches, but they are not legal per USPSA single stack rules. A 10 round 45 magazine inserted into the gun must fit into the USPSA box to be legal in single stack. The combination will not fit in the box because the magazine is too long. 9mm and 40 caliber gun/mag combinations must also fit in the box.
