  1. For me the question was is the gun out of the holster after he broke the 180 turning back to the start position. If the trigger gaurd being completely out of the holster constitutes an nonholstered gun, then clearly he broke the 180 with an nonholstered gun. To be clear, he was facing completely up range and the trigger guard was still exposed. If the trigger guard is exposed is the gun out of the holster? Does starting to reholster a gun exempt you from breaking the 180? And I would have had my rule book, but I have lent it to a new shooter who has not gotten his yet. Randy
  2. Two instances similar. I was roing a newer shooter a month ago, and he kept doing the "pull the gun up a bit" habit after loaded(Gh*st holster). When we got to the stage with facing uprange start, I told him before LAMR that if he pulled his gun up like he had been doing, he would be DQ'd. He did not pull the gun up. Had another incident where start position was facing uprange with item in hand. Item had to be dropped in bucket uprange from shooter. Shooter drops item, turns and draws, but misses bucket. Reholsters gun while turning to pick up item and put it into the bucket. Muzzle was in bladetech holster, but the rest of the gun was out while turning. He was completely facing uprange when the gun finally made it back into the holster. I could clearly see the whole of the trigger guard while he was past the 180. I dq'd him, and the CRO over ruled me. I was sure that the rule for the draw was as stated above "The point at which a handgun is removed or disengaged from the holster so as to allow access to any portion of the interior of the trigger guard", but did not have a rule book on me. Now I know. Randy
  3. Shoot em both. Pick for yourself. I shoot both, and have no preference. Randy
  4. I just use a standard extended mag release with out the button. I still have to rotate the gun, but by the time the new mag is going in my grip has been reset. There is plenty of time from when your support hand is released to rotate, release, and reset while your support hand is grabbing a mag. I am not a fan of training to use your support hand to push the mag release. Randy
  5. Try shortening it up a bit to 1.190 or 1.195. I am showing that I was at 5.0 gr N320 at 1.20 for avg 939. I shortened it up a little, and that pushed the pressure enough to averave 960fps. 180gr zero. Doing the load development side by side with a 5", the longer barrell lagged behind until the pressure got high enough(more powder or shorter aol), then it pulled away from the 5". Randy
  6. Great Job Trace! Now that you have the hang of it, I expect Master is just around the corner. Randy
  7. I would love to try one out, but I would not buy one at the current price. Is the price purely a product getting a 1.1-8 power into the scope? You can get a USO 1.8-10 for $1670 +/- depending on what options you want. I still want to play with one. Randy
  8. Went to it last Saturday. I really liked it. If you liked the book, you will like the movie. My wife had not read the book and she loved the movie. I think to get even close to the level of details of the book, Part 1 would have had to be 3-4 hours alone. As a result, some parts are left out, and the audience either fills in with info either from the book or guessing. I would recommend it to anyone. It is a timeless story about good vs evil brought to logical conclusions. Randy
  9. Been dying to get a ticket, but not within 200 miles of me yet. Been following the reviews, and it appears if you like the book, you will like/love the movie. I will go as soon as it shows near me. Randy

    G34 vs. G35

You need to do more investigating. The factory barrel in my brothers g34 would not shoot well at all. His G35 factory barrell shoots lights out. Take both guns and shoot them off of sand bags for groups. That will eliminate some possibilities for you. Randy
  11. Split the difference. I do not see 25fps either way making much difference on you load out to 1000 yds depending on caliber. Randy
  12. Congratulations. Glad everything turned out good. Randy
  13. Welcome to the sport! Come shoot with Big Sky Practical Shooters in Missoula. Randy
  14. Cross breed super tuck for my G26 and another for a Srpingfield Ultra compact. Love the way the rawhide seems to carry the weight, and you do not even know it is there. Randy
  15. Sounds like you are really enjoying it. Congratulations on your finish. Like any sport, it takes loads of practice to achieve any level of success. :sight: Randy
  16. Except in texas you get your own custom ruger .380 to commemorate the "incident" In Montana we cannot afford to purchase a .380 commemorative pistol every day the governor wants to go jogging with Jag. Besides, you do not want to make a big deal every time you shoot a coyote. Peta might notice you! Randy
  17. You mean there is more than one? Thankfully, Yes. At least those of us who live on the right side like to think so. Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes! And yes, I do live on the "right" side of Washington...That being the west side My opinion being worth absolutely nothing, I think the west side of Washington is about as "left" as it gets.
  18. You will likely shoot it in 1 or 2 days depending on your preference, and slot availability. I have no problem shooting a 10-12 stage match in one day, but it can be a grind. Most people like to shoot between 6-9 stages max in a day. Usually Match Directors will have squading set so that shooters can shoot it all in one day, or spread over 2 days so that everyone is accomodated. Between RO's shooting on one day, and then all the other squading possibilities, the match covers 4 days. Randy
  19. That is great for a 10 year old to learn the discipline of long range shooting. Will serve him well in all of his future shooting. Randy
  20. I am posting this for a friend. I searched a little, but did not find where anyone had discussed changing the locking block. While searching, I did find that the holes in the locking block might not allow them to be changed, but I cannot confirm that. Here is the question in my friends words: Does anybody know if a Glock full-size frame .40 cal locking block (from a G22/35/24/31) will fit into a compact frame (assuming block and frame are both Gen3)? I'm looking to put a long slide and barrel on top of a G19/23/32 lower, and I understand that it won't work with the original locking block (say on a G23) but I'm thinking that the G22 locking block will drop right in and a long slide (G35 slide) will run on it. Thanks for your time Randy
  21. You guys just gotta learn how to play in the snow. Skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, etc. It is a part of life in Montana. My wife was just giddy at the first snowfall this year. She can not wait to hit the slopes. Randy
  22. I just purchased 3000 rounds for $100 shipped. Randy
  23. IMHO the best pin punches you can buy are Mayhew brand. Randy
  24. Some precision rifle loads at large manufacturers are loaded on single stage presses. Most are loaded on presses that cost lots of $. I know of one custom press for rifle loads that is $60,000. I have also heard of dropping the powder in multiple drops to get a more accurate measure on large volume machines. I know that dillon says that their powder measure would not get within 0.5 grains at my volume and powder for 300 win mag. For that load I am looking for less than 0.1 gr accuracy. I load my long range rifle loads on a single stage and trickle every powder charge. Randy
