  1. Micro switch (trigger) activated solinoid that releases sear. I've been rolling this idea around for 2 years. There are electronic triggered guns already out there.
  2. I too have struggled with a few 2011's and this same type of issue. For some, the hammer follow is from riding the trigger. If you're getting finger bounce, try increasing the rebound tension. What trigger are you using? The STI's are as light as you can find, I like those. What hammer are you running? I don't like Koenigs in 2011's. Lastly, what's your trigger pull weight?
  3. I just saw the first episode from the re-air last night. I liked it. Beautiful house they stayed in. I applied, just missed the final selection round. I'll re-apply for the next show if they have one. It looks like a blast. I watch survivor still so I don't care if it has a "survivorish" flavor to it. The kid gets ribbed for his smiley face, but no one is dogging Blake yet for the preview shot (no look shot)? Hey it's all fun and games anyway. I watched a lot of the audition tapes and there are a TON of people I'm glad that didn't make it. There are some pretty funny ones, painfull ones to watch on youtube. I think they picked a great cast.
  4. At least it was one of our own if him getting a new GT500 means anything! With that license plate, sounds like a million dollar Mustang!
  5. It may be possible soon. It's not the bullet/powder combo but the barrel design that will change how you see the smoke, or "not" see the smoke. I've done some cuttin', grindin' and testing and came up with something that will help those that like shooting lead but don't like smoke. If I still have the pictures I'll try to post some tonight.
  6. Here's my video. 1st stage you can see why I had to reshoot it. Poppers weren't reset, but I still shot at them. "Shoot the plan!" Extra shots on stage 7 weren't needed, 3 A's on both targets. Dumb, but funny. I loved that stage! I really liked 9 too. Great use of available stage props and space! Those were the craziest drop out, swinging targets I've ever seen on stage 4. Great job to Chris for getting it done! Big thanks to Bobby K for the letting me borrow his Limited gun!
  7. You're not alone brother. I noticed this too. The more amped up I am, the better. I've shot my absolute best nearly hyperventilating from anxiety. Heart rate WAY up. Somehow when the timer goes off, the anxiety shuts off and I 'just shoot'. Then after, if I have to sign my score card I can barely hold the pen steady. I'm able to control how amped I get. At the SS nationals, standards stage, I knew I would need a steady hold for the 25 yard targets so I stayed calm before I shot. I knew I had plenty of time to get off the 6 shots. For the run and gun stages, I get all hopped up and it seems to help me let go and just shoot. I have a hard time getting amped up for practice, but when I do it's way more fun and also more beneficial.
  8. As soon as I can scrounge a stamp, my app will be off.
  9. Nitto Dura Grappler! I researched for months before buying my F150 some new shoes. I read review after review. Although I "wanted" a big A/T tire, I only "needed" what the Dura Grappler offered. Available in E load rating, although I didn't opt for that since I don't tow. Quiet. Amazing wet traction. Suprisingly good snow traction. Looks great on the truck. I'm extrememly happy with my tires.
  10. Bobby, he shoots lead so the throat will need worked over accordingly.
  11. You're first post threw us all off track I guess. Glad you got it fixed. A barrel reamer will come in handy to have. $60 at Brownells. You think it will be only a one time use, but they always seem to get used.
  12. Is the extractor out of the slide? I've had to use a barrel lug file and deepen the grooves at the 10 and 2 O'clock. Don't think that's it though, that shouldn't cause it to bind. Check for clearance, not at the hood but the left (looking down onto the slide) side of the breech face. The raised portion that holds the cartridge in place. I've had barrels hit that too. Dychem (sharpie) the area left and right of the feed ramp on the barrel.
  13. If you research this you may find "six seconds to freedom" or something similar. A fanny pack may be considered a "case". You can have ammo in the case, but the pistol needs to be unloaded. If needed, open "case", insert mag and rack. I myself will be spending as little time in IL as possible. Our hotel is across the river. I've seen some cable lockable soft cases (similar to earlier link) at a local gun store and will be picking one up before Nationals.
  14. Use dychem or magic marker and see where it's hitting. It might not be where you think it is.
  15. Regardless of my performance on stages 12 and 1, I had a BLAST at this match. I shot on a fun squad, met people I had only previously known online, came away with valuable lessons, got to hang out with friends and shoot stuff! Thanks to all the staff, and especially those that put all the effort into the stage design and layout. SS division Want2Race
  16. Doing .7 draws just to see if it's possible, then slowing WAY down to get perfect sight picture is how you get .90 A zone hits.
  17. Nice looking pistol right there! Looks just like my single stack, black with blasted SS small parts.
  18. When I shoot ESP, it's with my ACTUAL carry gun.
  19. Wow, it's been a long time since my last post. The Battle in the Bluegrass has come and gone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1WuTZC7OYQ Area 6 is coming up. Getting geared up for the match, did some practice with my 1911 today. Single stack gear is a Comptac holster and Safariland 771 mag pouches. I started out with some good, solid 1.1 second draws at 10 yards. Good hits, really focusing on A zone type hits. Started to drop into the .8's and when I hit an .80 I decided to see just what I could do. Mostly index aiming (flash front sight) at 7 yards but I was getting good hits with .78 and .75 second draws. I've never hit 7's before. The best part is, when I slowed back down to REALLY see the sights I was still in the mid to high .9's. That was cool. I tried to slow it down further for a perfect sight picture and was still under my normal match draw of 1.2. Good training today. Next up was some reload drills. I was hitting 1.1 and 1.2 reloads while warming up and going for it at match pace put me in the .92 shot to shot range. For fun I wanted to see how quickly I could draw and reload the 4 mags on my belt. From the draw, 5 shots, 4 reloads my best time was 5.82. For single stack it's important to practice reloads all the way to the 3rd and 4th mag pouches. This was a fun drill.
  20. Avatar and title is super funny
