  1. I use Universal Clays and a SDB. Mine seems to do quite well as long as I keep an eye on the wing nut at the end of the fail safe rod. Try loosening the screw that holds the #2 die clamp to the plate. The one I'm talking about is the screw that holds the clamp down to the plate, the clamp goes around the powder die. I run the clamp tight, but the screw holding it to the plate loose so the die and can self center on the brass. Mine will throw very consistant down to 3.8gr. Have not tried less. I use case lube just because it makes the throw easier. Lube on the outside only. Do you have crimped brass thrown in the mix? I can always tell when I get a Winchester match case because the primer is lightly crimped (.45 cal). I toss em out. I have noticed that the powder charge is different if the case has already been "belled". I'll reuse the same case to get the poweder charge close, but then use a fresh one to confirm. It's usually about .2 gr diff.
  2. ...and a face only a mother would love. I guess that would be the next part of my game I need to work on.
  3. Oh, and as for that picture of Corey: Caption reads, "Man, that brass ejects really HIGH!"
  4. What a great match! Thanks to everyone who showed up to shoot! Here's some more video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1WuTZC7OYQ
  5. THAT'S IT RIGHT THERE! Thank you for posting that. That is what I want right there. Email sent!
  6. I have a Novak cut, but really like Bomars better. I don't like any of the adjustables for Novaks that are currently out there. Anybody else wish there was a Bomar that would fit into a Novak cut (modified)? Or am I chasing a pink elephant?
  7. I got it YESTERDAY! And a bottle of Bulleit (for company)...
  8. Yep....but if you make it.....they will come. Recoil operated is my vote.
  9. Did you find anything out?? I haven't had a chance to call them yet. I saw the video of the CMMG version to go on a .308 lower. I'd even take that! Rumor has it they scrapped the project. Bummer.
  10. When I read the rules, carts were specifically not allowed for Trooper. The idea is, you are completely self sufficient with everything you need on your back (in a rucksack).
  11. .062 thick (thinner than the body) kydex.
  12. If you measure the inside width and thickness of your mtn man carriers, that's all you need (and height of course). My delrin block is around .910 thick. I was going to mill some material off of my 'real' carriers to shed some weight but figured I'd try this first.
  13. I used some older tek-locs. Waiting for some more (new ones) to come in. I want to make at least 3 more. They weigh less than half of the progressives. Don't get me wrong, the Progressives are the Cadillacs of the carriers, but I wanted the Lotus model (lighter). I'll try the Fusion, in flat black, or Sand, and see how it lasts. Next project, a carry holster for my wifes Government .380 (AKA, my church gun).
  14. I have some inch thick Delrin laying around, some free kydex and more time than money. I used the Delrin as the forming mold for both the shell carriers and the mag pouch. Too bad it's white, but the price was right. I started with the mag pouch because I didn't have one and just finished my 3 gun rifle. Then, once my 3 gun belt was finished off (with 4 Progressive shell carriers) I was amazed at how HEAVY it was. Empty!
  15. ATI has the AT12 in an add in the SGN mag. Nothing on their website. I'm going to call them on monday.
  16. Bla Bla Bla, its just a piece of paper.....at least I ran 4.4 el prez the other day ...but if you can't do it on command... Hey, weren't you the one that wanted that piece of paper to come in?
  17. Got a new USPSA card in the mail yesterday....
  18. Now that I've built myself a nice limited rifle, and shot it a little, I have changed my opinion. If allowing 1x optics will grow the division then let them play. I don't think there is an advantage when looking at the match as a whole.
  19. I've used JBWeld to add material and recontour the intake track of a ZX-6R to gain intake velocity. If weld won't stick to the lower lugs, I don't think JB would either.
  20. To make the sleeve I used a AVIBANK 4R2.50 push button retaining pin. The SS shaft is hollow and the outside diameter was correct. After cutting the outside shaft, removing the push button head and the center shaft, I had to drill out the center to .200". Since there was already a hole it easy enough to drill out on my drill press and maintain some form of accuracy. Once you have a cylinder of the right OD and ID, and the proper length Link drilled out (I drilled out 3, 4, and 5 links so that I could use any of them), The sleeve will have to be shaped to fit into the frame. Easy to see when you try to install it into the frame, it won't fit. The bottom of the sleeve, in relation to the bore as installed in the gun, will have to be thinned down to the width of the link itself. The top will be the width of the barrel lugs. In STI frames this is not needed, but in Colt SS frames it is. In an STI frame you can leave the sleave a cylinder. If you want to pin it in place, pin it in the middle so that when the link pin and slide stop pin are in place it will trap the pin.
  21. .650 under handguards and .750 from gas block out and 20". Ordered a JP 20" and had it turned down from gas block forward. Pretty easy and it was my cheapest option for a quality barrel. I wanted .750 at the muzzle, not .720. Shoots sub MOA with irons and Walmart ammo. Good enough for me. I think the weight is more of a hindrance than length.
  22. Instead of welding, you can use a sleeve. Acts as a shim between slide stop pin and lower lugs. I used a .250" OD, .200" ID SS tube. Bore out link for the .250" diameter. I modified 3 different length links. Fit the right one. You can pin the sleeve in place, but I've been running mine without it. The frame keeps the sleeve from going anywhere. I did this to an old GI barrel. Locks up super snug now.
  23. That's cool. I knew about the 'carry all your gear', and that's the part I like. Anything goes...that's cool too if you have a wide variety of guns that don't quite fit specific categories. I'll stick with Irons for now though. I think it's pretty cool this match is heads up.
