  1. I had the same problem - with the same parts above. Trigger was the issue not sure why. Tried 4 other triggers, all worked 100%, Timney did not - randomly would go full auto. I put it into an AR - no issues there. Good luck Phil
  2. I struggled with this as well - ended up with the 14.5. I feel like the limiting factor is me, not the weight of the barrel and I also felt that the handguard plays a significant part in the "out front" weight of the gun - I like a 12" and I feel like to really make a significant change, I should go with a 7.5" - something I have not tried. I've also started loading for each string, instead of just jamming in a 33 and going to town. Not a direct comparison because the weight of the ammo is not in the same location as the barrel but it makes a bigger difference (weight wise) for most of the strings. I load 7 for 5 targets and change mags for every string. I usually load a 2-3 more than the number of targets unless is it complicated like a texas star or shooting around barrels (which I am not good at) That being said, I have also priced a complete JP upper with the shrouded barrel - just under $1k. Not sure if that is where I want to spend my $$ though - want to get into 3-gun and need a shotgun. Phil
  3. Thanks - 23 would be nice - my combination only gets me 21, not 23 as I stated earlier - and they're Springer Precision, not Taylor Freelance - Brain malfunction. I'm wondering if the springs would work with the Grams followers and give me an extra round or two. Thanks Phil
  4. What do you mean by "reloadable" - sorry if I'm being dense. I assume you need a special spring with the Grams followers? I have a couple of TF extensions - to 23 ish. Could I use gain some rounds with the Grams and a different spring? Maybe get to 25? Thanks Phil
  5. Keep us posted. I hope you find a reliable solution to using that BAD lever which does not require grinding or otherwise removing material from the lower. As much as I like them, it hasn't really bothered my in matches - I use the charging handle instead of the bolt release. I'm not a pro either though. Phil
  6. Sounds like a good plan - I have the 14.5 with ss pinned comp - I didn't really consider the titanium comp, but probably should have. I can say there is a lot of carbon build-up that is a pain to clean, not sure if titanium is as durable as SS? I went with two tungsten on the short stroke based on a recommendation from Adam at JP. No recoil, steady dot. I shoot Federal 124g exclusively - mostly to stay consistent with my pistol which can have light primer strikes occasionally - the soft fed primers take care of that. If the load you are shooting is pretty mild you could get away with less tungsten I think, less mass, even less recoil? I chose the Cartridge type trigger because I like wanted to be able to swap easily - love it. The mid-sized ambi safety kept catching my right hand so I changed that to the smallest one on the right side - took care of the issue. I'm at about 2000 rounds - did have one failure to eject - cleared easily - otherwise perfect. Others in PCC that I shoot with can't say the same, they have a lot more drama than I like. One last thing - as much as I like the JP hand guard (I have the one with the slots), I would look hard at the new M-lok ones they are supposed to be coming out with. Can't fit ANY aftermarket angled grips or anything without a bulky picatinny rail adaptor to fit this rail - I'm using the JP handstop - works OK but not ideal. Good luck! Phil
  7. Congratulations!!! Keep is posted on how it shoots! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  8. Reading the ammo length restriction on the Goliath website, I was hesitant as I use 124g Federal ammo that is slightly longer than specified. I've had absolutely no issues whatsoever - I love the rigidity and strength. I didn't tweak anything worked out of the box. Phil
  9. My JP has a short stroke buffer/bolt LRBHO works perfectly...I don't really find it very useful though - I haven't had to reload during a match yet - have a 51 round Taylor Freelance that gets me through anything. Phil
  10. Couldn't have said it better. I only have about 2000 rounds through my GMR-15, I have 5 times that many through other PCCs - all of which required "tweaking". I like to shoot guns, not work on them. Go for the JP, you won't be disappointed. I have a 14.5 welded comp not the ultralight but am ready to order an ultralight upper so I can swap it out depending on what I am shooting. The JP guys are outstanding to deal with. Phil
  11. I have a couple of the DAA race masters with the PCC extension for "big stick" mags - they're awesome! These are the aluminum versions, I haven't tried the polymer versions. Kinda pricey though. Tried Ghost - so-so, Coda - mine was defective and company never responded. Also have a Comp-Tac that is pretty good but not in a league with the DAA. Phil
  12. You'll love it! Been wanting to try the "Huey" for a while now. I use a Holosun 510c - happy with it but always looking to upgrade. Phil
  13. Nick I asked for the final quote from them and got it the same day. Send them an email. 6 weeks after they verified payment the gun was done plus a couple days to ship. Phil
  14. Holosun 510C for me. I like the circle dot. Tried Romeo 5 - like that also but the circle is what sets it apart. No reliability issues with either. Phil
  15. I just received my customized GMR-15 from JP so I am definitely biased. That being said, I agree to a point that you can take the JP short stroke bolt, put it into a high quality lower and add a bunch of high end parts but does that really save anything? I did exactly this with a Spikes tactical lower and bolt, Timney trigger, Faxon barrel (I think), and a Taccom 2 stage buffer and so on. Spent a lot of time "tweaking" the combination to get it running - got it 99.9% there. I hate tweaking guns, I want to shoot, not play gunsmith. The JP runs 100% out of the box, no tweaking required - eadache free - that is worth a couple of dollars to me. The Spike gun is my back-up now. (No, I am not really good enough to have a back-up gun but what the heck.) For what it's worth, I don't see the value in the side charger either but the pros may. Phil
  16. THAT is a great idea!!!!! Thanks Phil
  17. The BAD lever clamps the bolt catch from the front and back and the catch is too close to the lower for it to work. The picture attached shows how close this is to the lower. You can see the back portion of the BAD next to the catch. I love the BAD lever on my other guns so I wish it would work but I'm not hopeful. Adam from JP says some guys are installing them by modifying them somehow but the last round bolt hold open won't work. Phil
  18. Nick - I got my GMR-15 3 weeks ago, won my first match and came in 3rd on the second - local stuff, no big deal. You have some of the same questions I did - here is what I found along with my some other thoughts: - because of the last round bolt hold open, you can't use a BAD lever without affecting that feature. I looked at the Phase 5 EBRv3 and that won't work at all. - I got the polished chrome bolt - easier to see when cleaning in my opinion. Shows the dirt more though. - I did not get the roller trigger - I've tried a similar (round, but not rolling) trigger from Timney - like a flat trigger better - M-lok doesn't work. You need to order the picatinny rail to mount a vertical grip. I ordered the 2" to use with the Bravo MFG grip. Make sure to get the one for the bottom of the hand guard, different screws for the top. Haven't gotten this from JP yet. - I also did not get the side charger - didn't think it was worth it. - I ordered the short stroke, heavy buffer - 2 tungsten weights, 3 steel - incredible!!! No recoil with 124g Fed ammo. Highly recommended. I told them what ammo I use, Adam made the recommendation and he was spot on. - I spec'd the medium safety lever for the right side - I hate it. Gets in the way. I just ordered the really small one - hope that is better, if not, I'll go to a non ambi safety. Good luck, keep us posted - I only have about 800 rounds through mine but have had 0 malfunctions of any kind. The guys I shoot with that have Scorpions, PSAs, Spikes and others can't say the same. Phil
  19. That's what I just did. Got it exactly like I want.
  20. I know how you feel. I have a safe full of basically the same gun - plastic frame, striker fired - blah blah blah. They don't do anything for me. Once I went down the CZ path - can't go back.
  21. The ultralight (5.5" plus shroud) is 15.5 oz. 14.7" is 22.4 oz. 16" is 24.7 oz. The longer ones would have a muzzle device on them as well, not sure how much that adds. In my mind, it isn't the amount of weight being saved, it's where you are saving it - at the end of the barrel. I'm going to shoot mine with the 14.7" and see how it goes. Phil
  22. Did you try it with the first (heavy) barrel? I have a GMR-15 on order with the 14.7" welded muzzle. My current gun is a Stag 9 - It's pretty heavy and that doesn't bother me but I'm curious about a comparison. Phil
