  1. "Reamed to fit RMR 124's at 1.10" - I don't have many rounds through mine as its having the slide milled but I'm sure it shot one of my standard plinking loads using RMR 124 at 1.118" - those were RN, not the FP, didn't try those. The other mods look great, love the grips. I have the palmswell veloce in black with a red liner - pretty cool. Pics when done.
  2. I don't usually run my Czechmate with minor ammo. When I have, I step down to a 8lb recoil spring and it runs OK. I have a TSO that I use for lighter loads. I believe No.7 is a pretty slow powder, I would switch to something faster - I like VV N320 personally. Are you going to switch to the non-comped barrel? The comped barrel may not have enough gas to make it worthwhile. Good luck.
  3. Probably too late but Memphis Mechanic - a member here - did my Czechmate barrels - can load all the way to 1.160 if I want (I dont').
  4. CZ's typically have tight chambers - I sent my Czechmate barrels to be throated (Great guy here on BE). I can now load up to 1.165 - but I never do. I would suggest trying various OALs to see what works. Bullet profile can make a difference also, plunk test the actual completed cartridge you will be using. 1.125 with one bullet can be very different that 1.125 with another. I also use 124gr RMR FMJ bullets almost exclusively - I like the way those feel, 147s feel sort of...sluggish to me.
  5. I'm sending mine to Primary Machine for optics cut, their work is outstanding! I've asked them to do something about removing the front sight slot, they said they could come up with something cool. Red Hill Tactical is my go-to for holsters - have 3 now I think, all excellent.
  6. I just like to shoot, I want it to work right out of the box and if that costs more, I wait until I can afford it. Most of the guys who build their own and put the effort into it to make it right, end up with good guns, some do not. Most of the issues I see at matches is with home-builds. Looking back at the original post, if this is going to be just a range gun, not for competition (I suggest you don't rule that out), put one together the way you want and save the money. I have a Spikes tactical build from a while back that is a really fun gun but I would use it in a match. Good luck.
  7. I assume you mean the JP rifles GMR-15. That is not the same as the JP rifles JP-5. The JP-5 is way over the 2k budget, the GMR-15 might be close. I have both, great guns, 100% reliable, but you really can’t compare them, the JP-5 is in a league of its own.. that being said, You won’t go wrong with the GMR, especially if you can pick one up used. The MBX, not MPX, has a good reputation but I personally have seen a couple have issues during a match. No idea how well maintained they were, that could have been a factor. good luck
  8. 124gr. RMR FP Match Winner - 4gr. -VV N320 @ 1.125" gives me just about 130 PF in TSO and GMR-15, haven't clocked in in JP-5 - probably a little slower. Good all around load, falling steel, that sort of thing. Phil
  9. D May I ask the part number for the egw kit? Did it work well? Thanks
  10. I have two uppers for my GMR-15 - an ultralight - 5 1/2" barrel with pinned shroud and Smoke composites hand guard. I run this with all 5 steel weights for lighter loads < 125PF with 124gr. My other upper is a 14.5" pin and weld with JP handguard. I run 2 tungsten and 3 steel for this upper - ammo 150+ PF - bowling pins, etc. I haven't messed with the springs at all - just replaced along with o-rings at 12k rounds. Same bolt for both. I don't particulary like heavier loads )147gr) with it except for pins, I feel like it is sluggish for steel but I need the mass for pins. My Jp5 came in the other day so my GMR is now a backup gun - but I still love it. I'd be interested in how the really ligith loads work out for you, keep us posted. Thanks
  11. I have one on preorder with Euro optics. Lots of reticle choices and a big window. No word on release date.
  12. For the longest time, I just put a cheap charging handle in my guns - didn't think it mattered. Until I got my JP GMR-15 which came with a Radian Raptor - can't remember the model. Made a big difference in the overall feel of the gun, I've since changed out all of mine to the Radians. Phil
  13. You don't need the magnification if you run the 510c, turn on the circle dot and blast away, I use it most of the time, not for accuracy but can't beat it for speed.
  14. I think my Czechmate is very flat shooting but I’ve shot a couple of 2011s that were a little better - Atlas, Infinity and SVI come to mind.
  15. Forgive me if this has been asked I’m driving and answering at red lights. Did you have the barrel throated? If not, they may be jamming up on the rifling. They can be really hard to extract if that’s true. Try shorter factory, ammunition and see what happens. That load looks pretty hot to me so you need a 10 11 12 pound spring, to keep the slide from cycling to fast, although I don’t know if that would cause FTF. I had my Czechmate throated to accept 1.160 OAL. Memphis Mechanic did it. Awesome guy. good luck
  16. I have a GMR-15 and run 510's and love them, I have a 512 I bought because I was afraid of the rain situation Chuck describes above but haven't mounted it yet. It's pretty heavy but that doesn't bother me, I'm just lazy. I have a JP5 on order, hopefully early March, was going to try the AEMS - not sure why, it kinda looks cool. I sent a UH-1 back, I have an astigmatism and it was way too fuzzy for me. Have a C-more railway - can't trust it becase of battery life. I changed the battery for each match but it still died during a long day - can't trust it. Vortex venom or viper - can't remember which - good sights, just don't like the single dot. Lots of really good sights out there, hard to go wrong, I think the reticle is the most important this. Good luck.
  17. They work great in my GMR-15. I load to 1.10" so they feed in my Goliath mags. They say they're more accurate than round nose buy I've not confirmed that. Phil
  18. I run the Red ACCS Vulcan holosun 507 and are very pleased. I use the holosuns with the circle dots on some very high recoiling guns with great success. On my Czechmate, I use a mount from seboweapons that shifts the dot over the rear of the gun. It looks really cool but I’m not really sure it makes much of a difference over the czc mounts. good luck
  19. Used to work with fiberglass back in the day - worked with Kevlar a bit, never CF - but might I suggest treating the raw cut edge with epoxy or something to seal it up. You don't want it splintering if it catches something. Just my 2 cents. I have a smoke composite guard on my GMR-15 - love it. Good luck Phil
  20. They don't come with a retainer but you can buy one if it bothers you. I think it is a special JP design, I have one but never bothered to install it.
  21. What mags are you using? Extended? Some of the cheaper Glock copies have inferior springs in them, I avoid using them for the most part but I have a couple I've changed springs in (Wolff) that run perfectly. Try to eliminate which mags are causing the problem - number and track them. Mid match cleaning should not be required, mine has over 1000 since last clean (embarrassing but true)
  22. Just curious, how much does a PT honcho like the one you are referring to cost?
  23. I don't see nearly as much of a velocity difference as SteelCity - I've heard that JP GMR-15s have "slow" barrels. Anyway: "Pins" load - RMR MW FP 147gr with 4.8gr Vihtavuori N-340 @1.12. OAL = 1072fps (CZ Czechmate 5.25"), 1097fps (JP GMR-15 14.5") - 25fps difference "Plinking" load - RMR RN 124gr with 3.9gr Win 231 @1.12 OAL = 994 fps (CZ Czechmate 5.25"), 1016fps (JP GMP-15 14.5") - 22fps difference I use my PCC for competition so the cool factor is not as big a deal to me but your Scorpion is all kinds of bad-ass - unless you need the cash, keep it. You'll shoot it. Phil
