  1. They mill away just enough of the forward section of the optic pocket on the slide for the dot to fit perfectly and have mounting holes line up. Honestly it could be done with a file but I would rather just shell out a quick $60 or whatever and have it done properly and precisely with a machine. He also provides correct mounting hardware for it.
  2. Be sure to use cutting oil with the carbide bit too. I know George said 2.5mm but I used a 7/64” bit, which is about 2.7mm, regardless either size works with the tap and some oil.
  3. +1, it looks identical to the X5 so I don't see why not.
  4. Hi all, I know there's a never ending debate and countless threads of which red dot put on your X5 (and not the M17, I'm speaking strictly for the X5). When I first got my X5 I really wanted the Delta Point Pro off my G34 MOS to go onto it so I got a Springer Precision plate but had fitment issues even with a second plate being sent to me. I settled for the Romeo 1 and it worked fine, I had zero problems unlike some others I've seen on the forum. I stumbled upon L&M Precision GunwWorks through google searches showing posts from BE and more. I sent my slide out and had it back within a week and a half. Quick turn around, inexpensive, and I can revert back to my R1 if I wanted to. I also don't have the added height that the Springer creates. I thought I'd just post this for all of your who love the DPP and the X5 and want both! I know the P320 X5 legion will be a DPP cut but for those of you (like me) who would rather spend about $65 instead of $850, this seemed like a no-brainer. Bonus points @George16 for this thread on the mag catch mod that I had try out.
  5. Some things you have to call them direct; like I want a magwell for my X5 and it isn't on the website alone but I managed to e-mail Sig and they said they can sell me one over the phone.
  6. They're all over gun broker and I think even ebay; only problem is they cost almost as much as the gun, well $500+ because they're usually completely uppers, not stripped.
  7. +1, I've had issues with ETS mags, especially putting base pad extensions on them. I have them as my back up, back up mag
  8. Not to hijack any part of the thread but those of you who want a DPP or an RMR without an adapter plate, send it out to L&M Precision Gunworks https://www.landmprecisiongunworks.com/product-category/red-dot-optics/ My X5 slide comes back today, I'll post photos assembled when it's all together. Otherwise, for Vortex I'd say Springer is the way to go as the Venom matches a Burris FastFire mount. Or just go Romeo 1 for the least invasive method possible.
  9. All summer. Don’t forget Harvard this weekend (always the weekend after Hopkinton just Sunday) and Monson which is usually the last week I think
  10. I had an Apex in my X5 and it brought my pull weight from 4.5 lbs to like 5.5 lbs so I wasn't thrilled. Not mentioned I had ordered the model that isn't suppose to increase the pull weight. I did like the over travel stop that comes with it so I just ordered one and sold the whole kit. Been thinking of getting the GG but I keep seeing this Burke one everything here has mentioned....there's just that $120 vs $300 thing.
  11. At least we have NH so close
  12. What size drill bit for the M3 tap, 7/64? I ended up getting a Shadow 2 button made out of a G10 from https://lokgrips.com/gun-grips/cz/cz-shadow-2/accessories/mag-release-button/ and was going to give this a shot with a spare mag catch I have. I was going to try a Strike Industries extended mag catch but it doesn't fit my X5 properly; with that I could've just got a longer M2 screw and put the pad right in.
  13. That's one thing I haven't picked up. I probably should before Area 8 though.
  14. It's fun, everyone gets super butt hurt about it at matches, and unlimited magazine capacity
  15. Pretty sure my brass has been hitting the top edge of my R1 ever since I put in a stainless guide rod w/13 lb spring at 127 PF ammo judging by the marks . I have my slide out at L&M right now for a DPP cut. I ended up getting a tungsten guide rod and a calibration kit from Wolff a few weeks ago before deciding to send out the slide and I'll have to play with it more when it comes back. I was thinking about the X5 Legion or at least the grip module more because of the tungsten and the DPP cut (hence starting this thread) but I decided to cheap out an just get the optic cut for a mere $45 vs the $900+ for the X5 Legion...I am still curious about the module but I probably won't be able to keep my tungsten guide rod at the same time as the gun may be too heavy for Carry Optics. As many others keep saying, a steel frame is a bit more appealing but I'd like to get my hands on it before anything.
  16. What was your power factor at your 3.7 load?
  17. MBX put a post on Instagram and it said 65 rounds
  18. I played around with some loads recently using my usual Titegroup, and a mix of Xtreme 147gr RN, Blue Bullets 147gr RN, and Brazos Precision 145gr RN. I mixed loads at 2.8gr, 3.0gr, and 3.2 gr TG (I was mainly testing PCC loads but wanted to test my X5 as well, I also probably should've done 3.1gr and 2.9gr for a better spread) Based off 5 round average: 3.2gr with the Xtreme made 127 pf 3.0gr with Blue made 129 pf (3.2 was 134 pf) 3.0gr with Brazos made 128 pf (3.2 was 136 pf) Those numbers above were all around 860-880 fps - mixed brass, fiocchi primers; OAL is mixed between the 3 bullet types because my press is set up mainly for Xtreme at 1.15 OAL but I ran the blue bullets and brazos through without adjustment and OAL is 1.139 3.0gr with Xtreme was 124.95 pf (so close!) so I know that it's really risking not making minor if going to a major match - 3.1gr is probably the lowest you could safely go and make minimum minor reliably. 2.9gr with the two coated options I used would probably just make minor as well. I have a little spreadsheet attached for those who want to check it out 147gr Reload Power Factor - Sheet1(1).pdf
  19. Yeah I get that, it’s just the only thing I’ve seen on it so far. Better reviews will come soon I’m sure
  20. It’s a great price for what it is. just stumbled upon this review too https://gununiversity.com/sig-p320-x5-legion-review/ looks like they took after Springer and Gray guns and went a guide rod that allows 1911 springs.
  21. It says "lightened and skeletonized" I'm hoping the "lightened" part means trigger pull but they probably mean the physical trigger shoe weight
