  1. https://www.leadstararms.com/barrel-pcc-9mm-16-stainless/ this guy? Looks decent, good price for the weight especially if you want to run stainless with a stainless comp. If they have a 14.5" I'd almost say get the shorter and pin the comp so it's easier to maneuver during a match. I have a 16" JP stainless that weighs 6 oz more than this barrel and now I'm intrigued but I need to stop being a barrel whore Otherwise I'd say check out Taccom for lightweight and fairly cheap. This way, you don't have to buy a comp or pay for it to get pinned and welded https://taccom3g.com/product/extreme-feed-14-5-9mm-barrel-with-brake/ or go all out https://mbxextreme.com/index.php?page=PCC_Barrel_Handguard#lwBarrel $140 for that weight and length can't really go wrong though with the Leadstar.
  2. I heard it'll be DPP footprint but my question is what about us with Romeo 1s on our X5s? or is DPP the same and just requires different bolts? like https://forums.brianenos.com/topic/260352-romeo-1-mount-footprint/ mentions Are we going to need an adapter plate which now means the sight sits higher on the slide if that's not the case?
  3. What load are you running? I ordered the 125gr RN and use titegroup typically, the hodgdon site shows 3.6-4.1 grains so I'm thinking with pcc maybe start at 3.8 and trying it out. I was originally just running the same loads I do for my handguns, 147gr Xtreme RN with 3.3 titegroup
  4. I had 100% failure rate at first also with the weight installed on the regular Blitzkrieg RB5007 buffer but I also had the New Frontier spacer installed at the rear of the buffer (the little one). I got 1 round off with the 150gr Federal Syntech but it wasn't enough power to push the bolt back far enough to feed the next round...needless to say it was super soft! (once) I pulled the NF spacer out and left all the Blitzkrieg stuff in and it ran like a champ with 147gr loads (I have to check PF still). I have a CMC PCC trigger, JP bolt, Blitzkrieg RB5007 w/2.6oz added weight (308 carbine spring as well) and a Venom Defense comp right now and it's pretty flawless just a hair sluggish because of the slower rounds hence bringing up the idea of higher PF loads. I ordered the new RB5015HD because I can't leave anything along and plan on testing it out soon; I'll have to take videos of all the testing and mixing components and post results.
  5. 100% agree with you on the feeling from 147s vs 115s that's why I'm switching to 124gr first to try out and may even just get 115gr factory ammo. I was going to get to the new Taccom barrel with the MBX-style comp but then found the CK Arms comp which is very similar and decided to put that on a 14.5" I already have to try it out. I also have the Blitzkrieg RB5015HD on the way and already have their 2.6z of weight so I'm curious to see how the rifle runs and feels with different ammo testing and that new setup. The guys at Blitzkrieg said Max Leograndis was running the new HD buffer and weight in his PCC (at least because he started running the LimCat Tron PCC most recently) and his gun is super quick an flat...again that also boils down to loads, gun set up, and lots of practice/skill. Check out his Instagram page (maxamundi) and look at some PCC runs, it's insane.
  6. Has anybody seen the new Taccom barrel that came out? It's like a lower cost version of the MBX Pro Series barrel that also 4 ports instead of 3. I'm curious on it and was thinking of trying it but I have other things first... https://taccom3g.com/product/extreme-feed-14-5-9mm-barrel-with-brake/ A lot of PCC guys that I've shot matches with seem to run 124gr loads now instead of 147gr. While they 147s are soft, I feel like they cycle a hair too slow and maybe that's why a lot of guys are switching and also the lack of gas created from the 147. I was even thinking F it and going for factory 115gr. It's a lot of trial and error really. I ordered 1000 ibeji 125gr bullets to try out and see how they run on my rifle along with the newest blitzkrieg HD buffer and their 2.6oz weight. I'll try to get a full test done to hopefully shed some light on everything but there's so many variables!
  7. If you want lighter loads check out the Federal Syntech 150gr stuff. It's very similar to my 147gr loads in how it performs in my PCC. Also look into a Blitzkrieg buffer hydraulic buffer. It has a softer impulse but that also means the cycle rate is a hair slower. Blitzkrieg just came out with a heavy duty hydraulic buffer to handle more so I'm going to try it with factory ammo or even 124 gr loads and see how it goes. I know a PCC will never be as smooth or soft as an AR but damn I want to it get close
  8. I didn't bother asking yesterday just many because I was so aggravated at the colossal f-up but I think I got plenty yesterday on the last stage of a PCC match but..... Course set up was 6 targets, 2 rounds each target from 3 boxes with Virginia count (ONLY two hits per target in each box) for a total of 36 rounds. I had my Glock mag with an MBX mini loaded up to 46 rounds which is pushing the limit, I typically run 44 to be safe. I was an idiot and took my spare ETS mag off my belt thinking I'd be fine (never think this!) so I made ready and waited for the time. Timer goes off, pew pew - pew pew - pew pew.....wtf a jam? I look in the port and see there are no rounds at the top of the magazine. I drop the mag to check it and it turns out the follower got jammed and all the rounds were not being pushed up because of it; I could shake it around like a damn pack of tic tacs. I mildly panicked and remembered I had a 22 rounder on me so I popped that in and ran to the next after finishing the first array, then moved to the second array and only engaged 4 targets before moving to the final box. At this point I already knew I completely blew the stage and even running back wouldn't matter because I'd run out of ammo. Needless to say it's a mistake I won't make again. I knew the magazine was finicky past 44 and most of local matches only need 36 rounds so I typically do 42 to be safe AND have back ups. Practiscore showed 0 across the board for that final stage so.... Moral of the story: don't take off magazines for a stage just because you have capacity in one, and don't go past known limits of operation (in this case my magazine). While I've only done about 15 USPSA matches between Carry Optics and PCC, this is one of those little things that I should know better by now.
  9. They show it at Shot Show last week so it's on the way.
  10. Damn guess I'm behind then. What shops? DM me if you'd rather not post. I'd love to pick one up soon.
  11. Decided to putt around online this AM before work and check out the MA approved roster and had a great surprise. The P365 (365-9-BXR3-MS-MA) has finally made it to the list! I wonder how soon stores will start selling them and what they'll go for...hopefully the $500 like everyone else. Oh but it's prob that damn external safety model...which is odd because S&W can sell a Shield here with OR without external safety...maybe it's just a matter of time before the other comes compliant, idk. Also waiting on the the non-MA folk to make fun of us
  12. Is that tungsten guide rod really worth the $100 over the stainless one they offer? I've been debating but just can't decide.
  13. Have you compared that GG trigger to an Apex at all? I got an Apex and it made my trigger pull 5.5-6 lbs with the trigger and bar, yet when I install the factory X5 trigger shoe and leave the apex bar I get a consistent 5...neither of which should be right really (lots of polishing needed this weekend) I love my X5 and did the same thing as you except Apex over GG. However overall to answer the original post. The X5 is a great platform and prior to buying it was running a G34 MOS. I think they're kind of two different animals. I feel like I manage recoil on my G34 better but the X5 just feels better over all. My G34 is softer and flatter, but the X5 just feels a bit more natural. Oddly enough, I can run the X5 with irons and a 5.5 lb trigger better than my G34 with irons and a 3.5 lb trigger...maybe I just suck idk Long story short, I bought an X5 without ever shooting on prior and I love it and haven't regretted it. I just need some trigger fine tuning to get it where I want and I'll be running it most of 2019 when I'm not doing PCC. My G34 MOS is just my backup gun now.
  14. I hear Sig is releasing something like the "Romeo Max" (or romeo pro as another suggested) which I suppose is like a signature dot/new model of course. Seems to be Delta Point Pro competitor given the shape which I won't mind considering the Springer Precision DPP X5 mount refuses to work on my X5 and I love the DPP. I have an R1 on it now and it's nice but who doesn't like bigger windows?
  15. Did you mean 115 gr Blazer? Kind of a bummer that you didn't fee anything significant with the MBX barrel, maybe it's partly due to the reduced weight and that's why it's almost the same as the Taccom setup you have? I put a PWS PCC comp on my 14.5" upper and ran my 147gr loads for carry optics through and then some 115gr winchester and there's definitely a difference in dot movement and recoil of course...it actually makes me want to run factory ammo for matches instead of my CO loads. The rifle runs the CO loads great and very accurate but since they're not super powerful I have issues sometimes with the shot timer picking up each round.
  16. Hey all, I saw that MBX has a new lightweight barrel with their new style comp on it. Does anybody have any experience with this set up? I know I've mentioned the Venom brakes in the past but given the nature of PCC especially with reloads, the MBX brake would seem to be ideal with how the direct gas, or maybe even the PWS comp however I'm super curious on the MBX barrel and comp setup since I can't leave anything alone.
  17. Like, within the past few weeks? I feel like this barrel has been sold out for ages.
  18. I've had this problem with both the Venom brake and JP brake previously mentioned on this post; between a 16" barrel and running reloads that aren't as powerful as factory ammo, PCCs can be fairly quiet and setting up a shot timer just right so it records your shots and not people in the next pit is a pain, it seems to be a growing issue. Of course RO could run almost right on top of you but that could get bothersome and unsafe even. I had 2 re-shoots at my last match because of it. Although if you run full power factory ammo the comp/brake would be doing its job more I would imagine with the gasses being produced.
  19. Holy hell there’s that much of a difference?! Looks like I have to check out an R1 yo compared to my DPP now and maybe reconsider optic choice when I get my X5 ?
  20. That's true. Damn it why did I jump at building a second upper before doing research... One 16" JP barrel with Venom DD brake and ICRW rail, the other is 14.5" Warsport barrel with Venom DD brake and JP MK II rail. Alright maybe I'll do a third ?
  21. What is the length and weight of the Cannibal? Would be nice to figure what barrel length with work best with it. I'd hate to put a 3" comp on a 16" barrel. I really wish there were 13-13.5" PCC barrels around. The video mentions a titanium version down the road, will there be stainless steel as well or just black and titanium?
  22. I think the Romeo 1 is comparable to the DPP in terms of window but not the 6 MOA dot. I've never looked through an R1 but looking at photos online, the glass/window seems to be the same size or very close at least. Only thing is, if you want a bigger dot then you may want to lean to the R1 since the DPP comes in a 2.5 MOA dot or a 7.5 MOA triangle. As with anything of course, I'd say try to find a store near you that has both and look at them side by side. Don't know what's around you for Cabela's or Bass Pro but they both typically stock them; otherwise I'm sure larger gun stores would carry them.
  23. Have you considered a Delta Point Pro? I know it's a bit more expensive than the Romeo 1 but the window is bigger which is a nice touch. Springer does have a plate for it too. I had a FastFire 3 on my 34 MOS and upgraded to the DPP and haven't looked back. This is also after a friend of mine constantly recommended the DPP and put them on all his CO and Open guns. I'm planning on buying an X5 soon and will putting a DPP on it as well. The dot is super crisp and glass very clear.
  24. I started off with an Elftmann AR9 trigger and it was great for the first couple hundred rounds then I started having issues with resets using factory AND reloaded ammo. It got so bad that it wouldn't reset every 8 rounds and really blew a stage for me. Elftmann told me to reinstall the trigger following the procedure in the package for a second time and it was still having issues. I adjusted the pull weight and it didn't help much. Given all that, I sent my Elftmann in for them to repair or replace it. They ultimately sent me a brand new trigger which promptly went on eBay and I ordered the new CMC AR9 trigger. I have CMC triggers in all four of my AR-15s and they've been amazing and reliable in each gun so I figured why wouldn't the new AR9 model be any different? Needless to say, I was right! The AR9 trigger from CMC has had flawless function for me and feels great. I did like how the Elftmann had nearly zero take up (like open gun territory) but at the same time it was incredibly sensitive, so if your trigger discipline is off a hair you could have an issue...I may have had an accidental discharge on a stage going back two steps to a target I missed and shot the birm too close to me and got DQ'd...womp womp. I'd recommend the CMC AR9 trigger!
  25. I've been running 147gr RN Copper Plated Xtreme and 3.2gr Titegroup through my JP 16" and also a Warsport 14.5" I literally just use my same exact load for my Carry Optics gun (G34 MOS) and typical 9mm loads. When I first built my PCC I was running 3.3gr titegroup and my groups were actually garbage and all over the place to be honest, 3 would touch then a flyer here and there with maybe a 5" spread. Given the JP reputation and how picky I am with my rifle groups you could imagine I wasn't thrilled so I dialed my powder charge back that 0.1gr and my groups were just as you see in the photo below; massive difference! After zeroing at 25 yards, I can get 10 rounds all touching in a whole about the size of a half dollar while bench resting. And yes, after this group I brought everything right into the bull.
