  1. And KC is only 2 points back of JJ
  2. The thing is there are multiple walls and barrel stacks in the stage diagram, what rules says that only the walls that are part of the shooting area are the ones that define a view? I could also see a interpretation that makes more than 8 from a view or location inclusive as in you would be required to change both view and location for it to be legal, but I have shot so many stages where one view is used from several locations to great affect, so there would be some serious unintended consequences for such a rule. I am more in favor of keeping the stage design rules focused on safety and letting the stage designers have a pretty free hand, trying to make good designs through rules is a fools errand in my opinion. PS I shoot Revo so I see SS major as a high cap division 1 extra round makes a big difference sometimes.
  3. I think in the case of melody line if they, as you described, shot the first target twice then finished as prescribed (shoot 7 reload shoot 6)they would get a extra shot penalty and likely a extra hit penalty, however if after the reload they did not shoot the target they shot at twice the first time (so shoot 7 reload shoot 5) they would get a stacking procedural, because no extra shots were fired. in the OP's example the stage says shoot either array perform a mandatory reload and engage remaining targets, so they engaged the paper array did not reload fired 2 shots at the steel array earning 2 procedurals for failure to reload then continued after the reload to shoot the remaining targets without penalty.
  4. my personal $.02 is it depends on the target, and what you have learned to see while shooting. 15yd partial target, align sights fire shot repeat as necessary 7yd open target, see enough to start firing, then confirm sights did close enough to what you wanted them to while its happening.
  5. Not trying to change the narrative just adding information I have been given by an RMI while setting stages for L2 and 3 matches. as I have had it explained to me, you have to change the view OR location but not both to be in compliance. As an example I shot a L2 match yesterday with a 10 round location (1 target around end of wall and 4 targets through a port, no steps were needed no other location to shoot those targets) as presented there were 3 views, 2 through the port and one around the wall.
  6. Along with being able to engage the outer targets from a position between the port and the end of the wall as Moto said you also have the 2 down range walls and barrel stacks, both of which create new views. So from the center position you have at least 3 views ( between the barrels left of the barrels right of the barrels) you can do the same at the ends of the walls left or right of down range wall down range wall to barrels, checking you want you also have barrels to the wall your standing by So that totals up to like 9 views Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  7. If the table is anything like last years it may well be worth staying up for. I finished well down the results in open (139) and still got a $75 bullet cert and nice a prone pad.
  8. yep, My point is shoot the equipment and division YOU like and if there is not enough local heat in your favorite division look at the overall results and peg your performance vs someone in a different division. Practiscore Competitor is great for this as you can combine division to see how you compare with only the divisions that interest you. Shooting a revo I regularly look at a combined low cap (Rev, SS, Prod, nobody shoots L10) or combined Irons sights
  9. yep Just like that. Unfortunately if He got moved to open (I'm reasonably sure he didn't) I cant see how the move could be argued, an Arb committee has to cite a rule to overturn the call and I cant find one. Just like if a shooter only used a 142mm Mag for part of a stage and they didn't use all the bullets in the mag so no advantage was gained, doesn't matter.
  10. Actually that all depends on whos shooting limited and production. When we had more heat in production it was not uncommon at all for production to have higher hit factors than limited. Also for a while our regular limited winner was shooting a G34 from concealment. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  11. I bet if they had to choose the optic would win, it really is the defining characteristic, l think the capacity is appealing especially to newer/lower classified shooters, but I will maintain if you went to the real competitors in CO and gave them a hard choice Limited-ish minor or 10 round optic the optic would come out on top. if you just changed the division back to 10 rounds you would see a bunch of people go to Open.
  12. I do not believe the mods allowed are for the highlighted reason, I believe many people believe they need the mods to be competitive, but I am pretty sure they are wrong.
  13. Are the shooters you are wanting to shoot against in production the ones that don't want to practice? are you really just wanting to beat more lower skilled shooters or are you looking cor actual competition? do you think going P-15 would get any of the top CO competitors to switch back? are they the ones that are trying to buy a higher placement in the combined results? My $.02 I'm not interested in having more names under min in the results, I would rather have a tight competitive match with one other shooter than easily beat 50, I shoot Revo quite a bit and am reasonably good at it but have changed to other divisions for two of the major matches I shot this because there was nobody to push me registered.
  14. what you are seeing is mostly local, there are many areas around the country where Production is doing just fine participation wise. the PNW has a few shooters that could be classified as local influencers that have gone for CO and that has driven a lot of the local shooters that way as well. It is quite likely that the migration to CO has little to do with the capacity and lots to do with the optic, I'm not saying the capacity plays no part, in fact I bet for those new to it they would list that as a huge plus, but I would also bet if you took a bunch of seasoned CO shooters and told them they could choose to shoot 140mm minor iron sights or 10rd optic most would go with the optic.
  15. oddly the majority of shooters will swear to you that you can not be competitive in production with anything less than one of the S2's Also oddly you can pick up a low end 1911 for only a few bucks more than that Canik, do most people want to compete with it? no but neither do they want a entry level Canik or a GLOCK the fact that you can be competitive with anything that is reliable is beside the point.
  16. I would say double charge, the case head imprint from the breach face indicated extreme pressure was involved not just a case rupture
  17. Its actually one of my favorite rules, our bays are medium gravel on top of very larger gravel on top of solid rock so staking stuff down is a major pain, we leave rear fault lines off almost by default, most of the time there is a reason to move to the front of the shooting area anyway, and most people like shorter shots. We also do not have the PCC problem because of range rules but open shooters are just about as bad 1.1.6 is my other favorite ( the suck it up and learn to shoot part)
  18. whats funny is without diagrams many shooters will be better off, as they wont spend time making stage plans that don't work in real life because the stage as drawn "NEVER" matches the stage in real life enough to plan from.
  19. The velocities listed look pretty right for factory 38spl. also the velocity spread is pretty common too, think of a revolver as 6 or 8 different guns as each chamber will shoot a bit differently, when I chrono several clips through the gun I can totally see the pattern of fast and slow chambers from clip to clip
  20. its very often that taking more than 8 is a good idea even if not required. also view vs positions gets a little messy, I regularly see stages where you must take more than 8 shots from a view but you may have the option to be in different positions to do so.
  21. sounds like what the USPSA shooters were saying until they shot about 2 matches with practiscore, then they went to a match and had to use a pencil and were like "what are we in the stone age?"
  22. I dont think the program has a limit on number of devices it can use (I could be wrong) so basically if you can score a sport with it you can run a national or world level event with it. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  23. Ghost makes a decently priced kydex holster for the stock II , and Limited fund that works pretty well for a regular steel frame gun (round trigger guard) Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  24. but he real question is was it faster?
