  1. The joy of KKM 1911 barrel. The threads need to be chased to fit a comp to it. You probably want to chase the threads on the comp as well just to be sure.
  2. I use Make Ready! app on iphone for dryfire. The free one does not allow you to use a start delay, but the paid version opens up all the options. I can put headphones in and not drive the SO and dogs crazy with the buzzer. I like the fact I can go through the process at the range as well with the range command start option. For most live fire I use my CED7000.
  3. I know I haven't shot single stack in 4+ years, and sold my trojan back then. But dang, my trojan with all the dawson goodies and a new finish was cheaper than that! Whats with the price hikes? Way better options in the new price range.
  4. I built a google spreadsheet- has Master and GM times listed- previous average, new average time, my best time and 10 columns for string 1-10. I have a an android tablet that goes to the range with me. The times I use are based on scoring 100% with the slowest time I can shoot it in to make M85% and GM95% HF. Some I adjusted if the drill only has headboxes available and I calculated time base on Alpha/Bravo hits per target.
  5. always had it written 1 degree, then hand file to final adjustment gap.
  6. no popples on this gun currently. My cmore on my old gun with ck mount with blast shield and popple holes had residue on the glass after each match. It was noticeable when I cleaned the gun, but not when shooting.
  7. 99% sure the vortex is not the same. Romeo 3 and RTS2 are the same pattern. You can't run a RTS2 mount WITH a blast shield as the front of the romeo doesn't allow it to line up. Buy a RTS2 mount with no blast shield or cut it off. Atlas Gunworks was going to do a run of romeo 3 mounts, so you could message them and see whats up. Other option, buy a cmore slideride and redrill the mounting holes so you can sit the romeo back further and use a blast shield. All of those mounts are based off the CK design, so pick your poison. You can also call Dan Bedell and see what he did for Max's guns, but I'm pretty sure its a cmore slideride redrilled. I run the brazos, cause it is the sexiest of them all and I didn't give a f*** about a blast shield. (I dig the arredondo but saw a few people have broken their mounts.)
  8. How does it shoot? It has slightly more than I've seen in what people want. Is it a new CK build? it may be how they build them to unlock with a comp. But I've never check their open guns. Everyone is on this quest to have 1911/2011s that lock up with no movement in the belief that its the only way to shoot 1/2in groups. There are many people that can attest to having rattle guns which shoot well. If the barrel has a bit of movement, gun shoots accurate groups and locks up correctly in the lugs so as to not induce any additional wear, then run the shit out of it. I bet you won't have to clean/lube the thing as often. I had bought a used open gun a while back, I was at minimum the 3rd owner. The barrel did not have that much front/back play, but it had side to side and rotational play when in the slide, but not on the gun. When it was together you could wiggle the barrel around by the comp but everything else locked up. I bought it online, so I wasn't able to see this first, as my limited guns have no movement at all. Anyway, long story short, that gun would put hole on top of hole when shooting and got me to shooting Master classifiers.
  9. focus could certainly be the issue. I also chalk up to live fire vs dry fire being different.
  10. I try to pick a spot in the gap which gives me the reaction time I need to pull the trigger.
  11. It's funny, for a while when I was looking to switch to mbx, I read how people had issues and Taran was giving people free followers and springs to fix their problem. I thought about buying tubes and basepads then ordering grams guts or tti to use. When I kept reading people said the new follower and springs were better and would fix most people's problems. So I bought complete mags to give it a go. They were fine with 9mm but didn't work with 38s. I contacted Ted mbx about a question before I bought mags and he replied same day. I asked a follow up and never heard back. So I'm not sure what they do, guessing it's nothing because every gun runs differently with 1911/2011 mags.
  12. I run the 38/40 grams guts in my 38super mags. The stock mbx guts wouldnt work properly.
  13. The factory spring is probably heavier than most people will swap to. You could but a 12lb and try that as well. I'm guessing you aren't gaming this gun, so a heavier spring than our competition guns run to guarantee reliability with dirt and grime would be your goal. You could try a shockbuff as well if you are truly worried about frame battering.
  14. Vibra tite I think is what Odin Works ships with all their rail kits for the barrel nut. I may give that a go in the future if I remove my comp or it comes loose.
  15. Honestly, if you like the magwell, I'd blend it to the frame and open up the section a bit that is knocking on the basepads. Other option is to grind back the edge of all your basepads, but then all of them will have bare metal. Or try the mag release that was suggested further up to see if it fixes the problem.
  16. I'm shooting 38, so I used the 38/40 followers. However, I did test them by hand cycling in 9mm and they worked fine. Hopefully, someone else can comment.
  17. I like others had issues for their open guns, some in 9mm but most seemed to be 38 guys, like myself. So after too much tinkering I replaced the guts with Grams and everything has been 100%. In 40sw, they ran just fine for me, but I did sand the followers a bit.
  18. Funny how a $35 part stops up a $3,000 machine. It's always the small things that cause the problem.
  19. Went ahead and ordered a 100ct 135gr of Bayou in green. I should have done this months ago..... oh well..... maybe this will get me to GM......
  20. Appreciate it. I saw most did 250 sample packs, including blue bullets and had no need for that much. I don't reload, so the extra I'd have to pawn off to someone. 100ct I could have the shop load that up and fill out all my mags for dryfire.
  21. While we are on this topic, does anyone have Blue Bullets or red/green any color but jacketed that I could buy 50 of for my dryfire rounds? I want them to be entirely different than what I shoot. I'm going to do the brass black as well since I'm shooting 38super. I currently run snap caps only for two rounds in each mag.
  22. so, mbx's with upward bent 2nd coil after sitting for a week fully loaded in 2 140s and 1 170: big stick salt shakered, a 140 salt shakered and the other feed properly. So, Grams guts just went back in all of them again. The one weird thing I've noticed on my 140s. The followers have the same stamp on the sides, but one of my tubes only works properly with the follower that shipped with it. If i use the follower from a different tube, it does not slide all the way up in the tube. Grams guts work in all of them without issue (these have the nub removed so no slide lock on them)
  23. in 40, I never had a problem, in 9mm it functioned fine, in 38super it turned to a salt shaker and the feed lips were to tight to feed. I've switched to Grams guts, tuned the feed lips and never had a problem again. I've read and have now bent my MBX springs up on the 2nd coil from the follower to help in feeding and I will give this a go at the range a bit to see what happens.
  24. On the frame, JJ Racaza actually puts his safety back on between reloads and I believe movement to arrays. Doesn't appear to slow him down one bit. I've considered giving this a go in dry fire practice.
