  1. Virgil and his company are great..I sent some parts for cobra coating on a wed, two-day UPS they were back on Tuesday...so they got there Friday, coated and back to shipping that day to be on my doorstep Tuesday morning...amazing service...the pistolsmithing I have seen from Virgil is very nice too... Are those Burner Grips??? gun looks great... (Edited by eerw at 10:05 pm on Oct. 31, 2002)
  2. Try Caspian....they make everything else.. Springfield also make an ultra compact in 9mm
  3. There was a thread awhile ago where BE said he had talked with Rob about the longslide...and they were testing, but for whatever reason..it shot well for TGO... TGO did exceptionally well with it at an area championship... maybe he will come him with why it works for him....be interested...haven;t had a chance to chat with Avery about why he shot a longslide...if I get any insight from him I will pass it along...
  4. OK.OK..another people do good story... This was a very long time ago... I was shooting a nationals...and my sear cracked causing it to position the disconnector into the magwell area enough that an inserted mag would drop the hammer to halfcock...anyway... Chip McCormick replaces sear under warranty no questions...George Smith installs and does trigger job while I am waiting... I ask how much???George says...I consider him for next time I have a gun built... There are a lot of good people out there....that's for sure And I'll second Jack is a good guy..have always had great expereinces getting stuff from Jack.. 5. I had a M9 pistol..that I shot a few production qualifiers with..I liked it a lot and had no problems with from opening the box...I mostly shot WIN whitebox ammo with no troubles..very accurate to shoot...I thought the trigger reset was shorter than a Glock...Had to sell it for cash...too bad... we have a local production master that shoots the m9..and he has had the same expereince...
  6. Tried an XD9 ported...shot well enough...felt pretty good in the hand..I sold it to save up for maybe a 5" tactical model... more info here...a lot of fans at the site http://www.hs2000talk.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ulti...i?ubb=forum;f=1

  8. Ron.. Don't think you can go wrong with your choice..For my occasional carry needs..I use a SA 9x23...pretty much the same as your choice...given if you carry a lot...a lighter version might be needed..but only time will tell on that.. I am quite happy carrying a full size steel gun
  9. Was flipping through an old frontsight and saw the ad for the all shotgun match on Oct 12 up in Courde'Alene ID.. Did anyone go??? How was it..thanks

    Conversion?

If you want a Glock in 9x23..the conversion has been done using the 10mm models..the magazines will fit the longer length, Barsto makes barrels for it. Some have had good luck with it. others have had to do some tweaking on the mags..
  12. go to moonclips.com tk custom...they have a bunch of revolver items..I think they have a loader ...also a cool double pouch..
  13. Hey Rich..when you get tired of it...send it my way...
  14. Ron.. As it has been said...Gary Smith from Caspian is a moderator at the 1911forum and answers fairly quickly and questions about Caspian stuff...nobody has stated any major problems with the Ti frames except it is a hard material and difficult to machine...but it does combo lightwieght with toughness...several have been built...I think George Smith, Ted Yost and a few others have Ti guns out there and you might get some response from 1911forum and pistolsmith forum on the longevity of the frames.. so a carry gun using an OM Ti frame with a commander length slide in 9x23 would be very cool..Metalform catalogs a magazine for 38super/9x23 for the OM frame now..and they are very good quality...carry loads are fairly limited..right now you would have a silvertip in either 38 super or 9x23, a soft point in 9x23 and a couple of corbon loadings in 38 super..there is some talk at ammolab.com of doing a limited run from black hills using a gold dot bullet.. Another good platform to work with would be Springfield's ultracompact in 9mm..have the barrel reamed out to super or 9x23 and good to go..Heinie shows one of these on his website that is pretty trick. anyway..a commander as you describe or a OM/commander in Ti and steel would be very cool...in 9x23..(124grn @1450 to 1520 factory loading). Right now, I have carry gun on a SPringfield in 9x23..it works really well..using the WIN silvertip load..using shooting start or Wilson 10 round mags.. grip safety...you can tweak the GS to disengage with minimal movement...it just takes a bunch a work at the bench with a file to file a little, put gun back together to get it done..I have all my guns adjusted this way.. 15. Do you know who built the original gun. or did the barrel work???

  18. Quote: from BSeevers on 9:53 am on Sep. 26, 2002 If we make SS how long will it take somebody to make a heavy SS frame? With a tung guiderod, heavy slide, tung barrel. It probably would be heavier than a STI/SV The regular single stacker could also add all of these items except heavy frame now. Food for thought. You can already....SA Operator..would be L10 legal..heavy slide, full length duscover and rail...add bull barrel. tungsten rod and a magwell...you got heavy metal.. It seems people always will look for the edge to win.. The move to divisions I think was a good one..as technology moved ahead...to shoot this sport head to head..the open gun is the best tool to win...but this is not everyone cup of tea..both financially or desire...For a sport to grow..you need well defined divisions for which people to participate..To think one division is better than another seems like a waste of time..
  19. I think they think we can only read a paragraph before we lose attention...It is pretty sad...I hardly read mine anymore..
  20. Not sure..but he has been concentrating on the Cowboy action, fast draw and concealment markets..
  21. There have been a bunch of older Ernie Hill Fast trac stuff on EBAY lately...might try there..
  22. (thread drift) Hey Pat.. What was the configuration of your modified gun...always thought that was a cool class...because all you had to do was fit the box... what was the winning modified gun???? (Edited by eerw at 8:57 pm on Sep. 24, 2002)
  23. Most magazines have about a three month lead time....for whatever reason..they just seem too..add to that AH's is only bi-monthy...you most likely won;t see any coverage till the next or next-next issue...the coverage has seemed to be less and less as the years go on...used to be they had separate equipment stories and multipage, multi-photo layouts...

    new open  gun

Over the years..I have seen guns built up by Benny and they always seem to run...Don't think you would have any problems...More importantly is do like his work, does he take care of your concerns and do you and he like working with each other.. Picking someone to work on or build you a gun is like picking your family Doctor, dentist or mechanic..You gotta trust them and like them...from there its easy...
  25. Glad your daughter is doing better...kids are resilent.. Just got back from the match...it was lot of fun...stages were very challenging for this set of old eyes..I made some pretty good mistakes..but it was still fun... I was shooting limited 10 and I found if I shot fairly aggressive, but not tight..i did pretty well amongst the other L10 shooters...if I shot my mediocre self..I would finish 4th or 5th on a stage..make mistakes..who knows where...The Range was easy to get to, Range Officers were great...hats off to all of them working in that heat and humidity... It rained late saturday night...and we got a delayed start on Sunday..but all worked out well...a very hard working staff, making the experience a lot of fun...Think I'll be back..next year with a fat gun... Thanks guys...great match
