  1. Definitely so...even after I help set up stages..The first thing I look for is the round count on a stage and then account for every one of them before I even begin to do a walk through..its just too easy to miss a plate or small popper..
  2. George is a good guy..and he'll tell it straight up..He just finished a gun for me..we had talked about my likes and dislikes..and it pretty much jived.. we ended up with a lightened slide with a coned straight comp..otherwise..I let him use his expertise..It is a little longer than I expected..but it doesn't handle slow at all..
  3. For those that it helped...it works great..and is a good thing.. Not sure if its the fix for everything...but if it makes the gun work..can;t argue with that.. on the plus side..you don't have to depend on a good heat treatment of an extractor..negatives.you add several small parts to your gun..they are about three times the price..but why skimp when you have a 2k+ blaster... But it may be the fix for your gun..I just finished getting my blaster to run right...it came down to an extractor with bad heat treat and was too soft..new extractor RCed to the right hardness and all is good..
  4. Has anyone got any chronograph data on the velocity difference between loads using WIN9X23 brass and Starlines 9 SC?? I have heard the WIN brass is thicker..and just wanted to see what the difference was..Thanks
  5. Shot this one today...pretty much summed up the match...bad..no focus..awareness or anything..should of stayed home...but it was too nice of a day... I don't remember much..dropped a shot on the far target..that was bad..times were about 11 seconds for the first string and 12 seconds for the second string..anyway..waiting for the results to see where we start practice tomorrow..
  6. This is guessing..as I have not played with Starline..but have WIN9x23.. 9x23 is a taper vs 38S being a straight wall. It is .004 smaller at the casemouth and .002 bigger at the case head. Both will fire in each others chamber.. About the only thing that will happen is that you will squeeze the case head of the 9x brass when you resize.. I would think as long as it stays in the same gun the brass will form to the chamber.. and as long as you don't switch guns back to a 9x23 chamber..you should be ok.. The question will be what happens you go to reload..try a dozen to 20..then reload them a couple of times.. Oh is the gun chambered for 9x23 or super.. (Edited by eerw at 1:58 pm on Mar. 19, 2002)
  7. I shot a p9 years ago...I loved that gun..the only disadvantage is/was is the 170mm sticks..other than that it will keep up..I had a three port comp milled for my LSP model, also had a beavertail welded up and a magwell put on...it worked really well..shot 9x21 using 124 and 115 grain bullets..pins were not really a problem, but I always had two or three extras and always inspected the part..I also had the sear block, ejector unit weld up for a tight fit into the frame..as the sear is housed in the same unit as the ejector. Great gun..I wish I hadn't sold mine
  8. Patrick.. If you don't mind or have dupes..I can scan and email back to you...I work in a photo lab and have access to macs and and film scanners..Just an offer..
  9. Hey Joe.. What is your use going to be for this gun??? competition, carry, both, range gun, home defense...I think the use will determine a lot of your answers. You won't find many adj. available, if any, and not mill the rear of the slide.. Bomar, Caspian, LPA, MMC make adjustable for the 1911..you'll need to modify the rear notch yourself or gunsmith. the front width will need to be determined by you too. there are several threads about front sight width...and the shape will be a preference thing too.. I know i my collection I have both ramped and patridge shaped sights from .110 to .09 width.. If you choose a night sight or fiber optic front you may need to go a little wider to make room for the tube or optic. fiber optic fronts..Caspian, EGW, Dawson and Brazos Custom make nice ones... You got a lot of choices..good luck and let us know what you find works best for you..
  10. Hey guys.. Maybe this will shed some light or add more confusion..but here is an email I got from Amidon on the mag release issue..and specifically Glocks In a message dated 12/31/01 7:34:21 PM Eastern Standard Time, stewart@gazette.com writes: > Is an extend mag release specifically disallowed if it did not come that > way from the factory Yes. Have a great 2002. John Hi Stewart, I was going over some of my emails that were sent in response to questions about equipment when I noticed this one, it appears that part of my message was deleted or I just did not type the whole thing. Anyway, I wanted to get to you with the complete answer. Yes, extended mag releases are disallowed, but only after market products. If it is a specific factory produced part, that is offered on another model of their gun, then it is legal to replace the part with the gun you have, with the part from a gun of a different model. Example, a Glock model 17 does not come from the factory with an extended mag release, but a model 35 does, both are legal in Production, so the interchange of the part is legal as well. Sorry for any confusion and I hope that this explains things better for you. DVC, John (Edited by eerw at 11:37 pm on Jan. 31, 2002)
  11. Eric, What are you finding is a good load with 115s and 3n37 with the new power factor?? I am thinking of switching the the lighter bullet with the new gun coming and need a place to start .thanks
  12. You guys see the thread>>> http://www.brianenos.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard...32&topic=45 Voigt suggest sighting in at 7 at upper A zone.. then your bullet will rise at longer ranges..check it out
  13. We just shot this today.. I was shooting production 56 points 5.12 seconds..I think 2.79 on the first run, 2.33 on the second run..
  14. Had buddy shoot a tribrid, and he seemed to like it and shoot it well..so I guess that is useable..I would go with the c-more as suggested..
  15. A good open gun can be built for 2K...If you are going to spend the time in Open, build the gun that will work for you..not a compromise
  16. For my L10 gun (singlestack) I have eight 8-round mags and four 10 round mags..I usually keep five on my belt, one in the gun and my feeder mag in my back pocket. I load up all my mags, and its easy to carry five, usually have them in my pouches when i am on the line.
  17. Dry firing is a great place to work out new techniques and build in the reps. Then you can go to the range and try it out on the timer and live fire. Man...it is snowing out..I want to go shooting..oh well couple of days...sunny again.
  18. SnoKid.. That is a great goal..bt don't get frustrated if you don't get there in the time frame you set..It is amazing how much doesn't happen when you try to get there...Dryfiring is great for getting the feel of the gun, target swing, working on the draw, reloads and some moving to shooting position. I usually picked a point and work with a timer on par. When at the range, I would work on specific drills and shooting at dots. This worked the best to slow my tendency to shoot too fast and work at calling shots. Makig it competitive helped too. I got a friend and we would challenge each other...tightest group in fastest time...after an afternoon of that..loser bought lunch or dinner...good luck and have fun on the way.
  19. Benos.. that is good stuff...ever thought about writing a book Snokid..what he said... (Edited by eerw at 5:49 pm on Dec. 31, 2001)
  20. Just wanted to check on minor item..is an extended mag release allowable or not in US production division??? thanks (Edited by eerw at 5:42 pm on Dec. 31, 2001)

    Comps

Hi Geo..Nice to see you here too...on the four up two side comp...what load do you find works best?? 115 or 124 bullets?
  22. I think they might do well..it just depends on how the rest of their lives go...the facility here in Colorado Springs is very nice, but guys like Doug, Robbie, Todd, Brian, etc. have lots to do in the rest of their lives that actually make money..Our programs here are not really set to pay the athletes. Why do you think we now let NBA and NHL players play for teams.. One of the reason I read about wanting to invite these guys is the amount of trigger time they already have and do, and the amount of match pressure they have shot under... A great deal of the training here is with sport psychologists and mental training..So I guess they feel these guys will have a slight advantage over looking for kids with none of this behind them..anyway..I may be out in left field..
  23. I really like my 38 super and 9x23 single stack gun for ESP. Caliber runs well in the single stack..and all the components I already have from my open gun...40 would be a good way to go too..
  24. My L10 score was 52 points, 5.83 seconds..I bobbled the reload ever so slightly. but it was pretty good. the fourth match I shot this year..the second shooting in the L10 category..so I didn't feel too bad about it..It showed up being about 93%
  25. Hey Smoney, I think I have been running something between a 14 and 16 in my 5" 45. Ususally I spring a gun a couple of ways, be it right or wrong. First I see where the brass is ejecting a piling up. About 4 to 5 feet to the right is good for me. Next I usually shoot doubles at about 4 to 6 yards and see where the second shot lands. If is consistly low, I figure too much springs, too high too light of a spring. This seems to work for me and the style for which I shoot. I am able to see the sight lift and return with each shot without fighting the gun for control. Hope that helps and if I'm wrong, somebody please help me.. :-)
