Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Welcome to the Dillon reloading family. When yo get the bugs worked out, you'll be crankin' out ammo like crazy! Primers are fed from the tube, into a circular plate in the primer feed station and there is a 6 primer lag. The holes are filled with primers as they step/rotate into proper position to be inserted into the final priming station. Hope this helps you find your primers! Marv
  2. For anyone interested in how he died...or more interesting, how he lived, go here: http://outside.away.com/magazine/0499/9904terminal.html Human error seems to get a lot of extreme sports folks...
  3. I'm the guy who took the pictures and owned the gun above. It is a great pistol and the light weight made it really easy to move around. The slide looks stock, but is internally lightened...alot. Cycles very fast and the reduced mass really seems to help with the dot track. I sold the pistol earlier this year, but ordered a new one just like it about two months ago. Exact same configuration and setup... Marv
  4. Yea, I got a reinforcement of this lesson at the Ohio State Match. On one of the field courses (Barnyard Shuffle - 32 rds), I had to reshoot due to one of my bullets going through a window sill in a wooden wall and hitting a popper visible through the window...declared range failure. After I reshot the stage, it was determined that two swingers that sat near each other could possibly over lap when activated, so everyone was made to reshoot the stage. Of course the third run was the worst for me (reshot the stage after completing the other 8 stages...and I'm on chemotherapy, so I tire easily), but I sure got my money's worth on that stage! Always take twice as much ammo as you think you'll need!
  5. I thought ESP was for single action pistols in any caliber EXCEPT 45, which is CDP. I don't think I have seen anyone trying to shoot ESP with a 45 in minor. Interesting question though...
  6. Try a standard 1911 holster. Last 41 I had fit perfectly in the 1911 holsters I had.
  7. Looking at the pictures, it appears as though the sear spring on the new set of parts isn't putting enought pressure on the disconnector to push it up into the disconnector slot. Also, measure the length of the disconnector from the top of the hole where the sear pin goes through to the top of the disconnector. The slot in the slide may be a little shallow for the new disconnector and not allowing it to ride up where it needs to be. If this seems a little complicated, it is. Have it all checked by a reliable smith for your own safety. Good luck!
  8. Wow! I would be OK with that. The tubes are 45 tubes (4 shallow grooves) and the springs and followers are factory (I built the mags from factory parts since complete mags were sold out at my usual supply). Chuck, how many coils on your spring and has the follower been modified? (If it isn't too much trouble to check). Thanks
  9. If I count correctly, the spring is an 11 coil spring (11.5 actually). The base pad is the standard basepad that comes in multi-colored variety. Doesn't add any rounds but makes 140mm. Thanks
  10. I have read about this here before, but couldn't find anything specific using the search function. Here's what I have... I am running an STI framed pistol in 45 acp. I have 5 140mm mags. I can only get 12 rounds in each of them without using a brake press to squeeze in 13-15. I am using standard mags and components: 140mm tube, STI follower, 140mm spring, 170mm basepad. How do I increase the standard capacity? I have them sitting now with 12 to set the spring. Would it help to cut a coil or two from the spring? Trim the follower? Beat it with a hammer? Help!!!! Thanks
  11. I've had really great experiences with the brownells slide rail file. has safe edge and is really sharp. Not bad price. I use it for many cutting and finishing jobs.
  12. Just in from SA... Hi Marvin - We have been told that gun will be available late this year. No price has been set on that gun. Thanks- Tom TOM MACKE SPRINGFIELD-ARMORY 1-800-680-6866 X970 1309-944-8490 - FAX www.springfieldarmory.com tomm@springfield-armory.com
  13. STI Edge...$1600 6 fitted 19 rd. mags... $600 Dillon 650...$700 Holster, mag pouches, belt...$300 Having your own $85 Shooting Chrony...PRICELESS! Best investment I ever made (actually I won it as a prize for first in class in my local club). Wouldn't even attempt to load match ammo with out it. Traded the one I won for a Beta model with memory. Reaaaly handy when you forget pencil and paper...
  14. One of the local SASS groups also makes the shooting sequence a part of the stage. Picture a steel match with 4 targets. You have to ring them in a set order... 1-2-3-4-2-3-4-1-3-4-1-2-4-1-2-3 Any mistakes and its a 5 second penalty. Plus a lot of the cowboy shooters around here are older guys who enjoy three gunning, they just don't like the fast-paced, over-competitive nature of the 3 gunners (no insult intended). They also just enjoy the social nature of cowboy. I don't shoot it anymore, though. The ROs kept getting on me for my tennies and ball caps!
  15. I just started loading for my five inch gun and really like the 7.3 grain load of 7625 over a 124 CMJ MG bullet. I shot my first match with it and really was surprised at how little muzzle rise there was. I also thought the load sounded softer that the 3N37 I had been using. Now I just have to learn to trust my judgement on the dot. I am so used to open sights, I am having minor difficulty trusting when to pull the trigger!
