Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Since you left, the USPSA now has a Single-Stack Division. This will be a better choice for you and the .45acp than competing with the gamers over in Limited. You will be competitive in SS. If you can load 10 with extended mags, you might want to shoot Limited-10, but you will shoot against other shooters running race gear equipment.
  2. Good info! Thanks for your note.
  3. I've reloaded for my Wilson .45acp with N320 (5.1 grs. under a 200 LSWC, Fed 150's, and Win brass) with much success for the past 5 years. I am considering making the move to N310 as my current supply of N320 is running low. Any pros or cons with the N310 vs. the N320? Where is the best source to buy? Thanks.
  4. Do I care if I supposedly can't compete with autos? Not really... lay out the stages and let me have at it. The bottom line is I'm competing with the other wheelgunners and myself. Since shooting a revolver, I really don't have much interest in bottomfeeders these days.... except for my Wilson I pull out once in awhile. Have fun. Shoot safe. Hawker
  5. The gun I am shooting this load is a Performance Center S&W 625 with 5.25" barrel. Here are some more details on the load: 230 gr. FMJ Montana Gold Bullet Starline Brass OAL: 1.250 Taper crimp to spec. 4.5 gr. VV N320 Federal 150 primers Can anyone recommend a Chrono that will work indoors without a power cord? The range I shoot at does not have an electrical outlet handy. Thanks for the feedback. Thanks. Hawker
  6. Anyone have an idea of the PF of this load: 4.5gr VV N320 230 FMJ MG OAL 1.250 Since I don't have a chrono... I'd like to get an idea where this is. The load shoots very soft, but is still accurate. Thanks, Hawker
  7. Great advice. That's what I did and it seems fine now. Hawker
  8. Tonight I loaded a few hundred rounds in my 550B with new Starline Brass. As I was seating the primers, I noticed that some of them were flattening out and showing some primer denting. At the same time, I also felt some resistance and saw some "chattering" of the primer pickup bar. I had about 8-10 primers left in the tube at that point. Needless to say, I took the primer assembly apart, cleaned everything, and reloaded a new tube full of fresh 150's. It seems to be ok now. Does anyone know what the problem was? The primer looked ok on the cup before seating. Do you think I may have seated them too deep? I do have my shellplate fairly tight and normally seat my primers at .004" I do like the feel of the Fed's when priming as they give good feedback when seating. The WLP's I had been using previously, were giving no feedback or "feel". Thanks, Hawker
  9. Finally got my 8# of N320. Seems everyone (distributors, that is) buys from Kaltron and they were out for awhile. It's shipping now and all is well. I just loaded up 4.8/ MG 230/ Starline Brass/ OAL 1.250. I'll try that as a starting load and see how it does. The powder does seem to measure a bit better than the W231 I had been using. Thanks for your feedback. Hawker
  10. My current supplier had ordered 8# of N320 for me and now after a 6 week wait, he says there is none available. Do you know any suppliers that have 320 available now? Contact URL and/or phone would be great. Thanks. Hawker
  11. I had the same problem awhile back. It turned out that the shellplate was a little loose. Tighten it down some and you should be good to go. Don't forget the set screw before and after you make the adjustment. Hawker
  12. I'm switching from WIN 231 to VV N320 and would like to know if anyone has chrono'ed the Vit Loads for the .45ACP. Specifically, I am shooting a S&W 625 5.25" barrel .45acp. I'd like to make 170PF using the MG 230gr FMJ. Any suggestions and load data? The VV website manual doesn't have much info. It shows a 4.9 load at 183PF. Hawker
  13. Thanks for the good feedback. Just finished loading another couple of hundred .45acp with FED Primers this evening. On my machine (550B)... I can certainly "feel" the Fed's much better than the WIN's when seating the primer.
  14. Imccrock: Ditto on your 3 points. I've talked to Dillon and they really don't have any specific comments. I do have a 625. It has been lightened and works well with FED primers. WIN primers are a bit iffy. No dirt or buildup residue behind plate in the action. Clean gun. I'd like to hear from FED Primers users. Your experiences, good or bad? Hawker
  15. I am reloading .45ACP with Federal Primers. Some say.. it's better to use WIN because Federal is so touchy that a primer detonation is almost surely to happen in the 550B. I have recently switched to FED 150 Primers as that is what works best in my Revolver loads. Now.. I'm a little nervous everytime I pull/push the handle. Someone want to clear this up? Any good suggestions, safety tips? Thanks. Hawker
