  1. Handloads? Do you gauge your rounds? Need more info to make proper calls, sounds like it isn't going into battery but you should double check.
  2. I poured gun oil (yes yes i know i know, not the best or optimal) and let it soak for 24'ish hours. After that I proceeded to continue with a flathead screwdriver (and a hammer for the super tough parts). At first I was scared that I might damage the barrel as I managed to discover something shiny, but at some point I just thought "screw it" and kept going and eventually hit a gray spot. At that moment I realized that the carbon buildup was so tough that it was shiny after scraped. No mercy after that, now I have a clean comp
  3. My first objective. Be it the first target to be shot, the place where I'm supposed to run or my handgun on a table, whatever the stage may require.
  4. Isn't Steelmaster basically a Matchmaster with a bit more aggressive slide cuts and probably lighter springs? I'm running major on my matchmaster and cant think of any reason why the steelmaster wouldn't handle it if you put in stronger springs. I'm having a hard time fitting enough RS24 in the case to make major, so I wouldn't use popple holes unless you get a long barrel. My recoil spring is 9 and main spring 19 pounds
  5. I started with a loaner Trubor and due to the sluggishness I chose the Matchmaster for the quicker transitions. But now after a few years I'm beginning to lean on a heavier gun, especially now that I'm running major ammo. I'll probs look for a chance to try out a steel grip open, and maybe report back here. On the PT topic: I tested the PT EVO grip last week and it felt amazing. It was as if it fit my hand perfectly, there's no other way of describing it.
  6. Why aluminum and not steel? Steel would make the gun a bit bottom heavy and would reduce muzzle flip (at least so I've heard)
  7. I used a Toni Systems 90 degree mount for about a year. Dot was easier to pick than regular upright mount but the thumbrest was hard to access and slide manipulation was difficult. I bought an RTS2 and haven't regretted a bit. Picking up the dot is easier than with the 90 degree and thumbrest and slide manipulation are easy. I had no malfunctions with any of these so YMMV
  8. Fireclean! In all seriousness, I use spray oil on my STI Matchmaster. Runs pretty much failure-free. Granted, it is a bit dry after a match.
  9. Congrats and welcome to open division!
  10. I can confirm that slideride parallax error seems a lot worse at less than 5 metres. The parallax can also be set on a fixed distance (some scopes have variable parallax), and the slideride parallax seems to be a bit further, or then the optical quality is just bad
  11. Just tested with a C-more slide ride. When I moved so that the dot went between the top and bottom of the glass, it shifted approx 2cm @ 3 metres. With and without glasses, wife also saw the same effect. I have yet to see a 100% perfect parallax-free sight. All the red dots I have ever used have had some parallax error. Maybe I have super bad eyes or smth? ?
  12. 1. Well basically I shot an iron sights pistol for the first time when I was like 6 years or so, but my first pistol was an open div pistol and I started competition shooting straight in open division. 2. No, absolutely not. Better to start with an "easy" pistol to allow you to focus on the game itself as you don't have to think about the gun and can 100% focus on the stage and yourself. 3. Can't really say about this. I have equal dominance in my eyes so iron's are almost impossible for me. Some claim they can't see the dot with their other eye when trying my pistol, but I think it's just because it isn't aligned. The dot should project into the eye just fine, no matter the eye. 4. Man, you have no idea With correct springs they are super soft especially with factory ammo. Gassy handloads are FLATTER, not softer!
  13. IMHO your right hand should be so high that the slide bites just slightly and left thumb's first joint should be deep in your right thumbs second joint. like this:
  14. According to shoot n score it, i get around 75-80% A's. I am an Open div B shooter and have a single full season behind me
  15. I too am struggling with this. I have + lenses, astigmatism, neutral dominance and am also slightly cross-eyed (not sure if this is the correct term). That's just one of the many reasons I shoot open with a dot i only have to look at the target and not worry about focusing on the dot, thus clearly seeing what I need to
  16. Janskis

    Thumb rest

I love mine The thumbrest itself can be inserted to any of the three holes in line, then the angle can be chosen by aligning it with those other holes
  17. I chose the matchmaster over the trubor as my first pistol and I've liked it a lot so far. I shot my first year of competing with a friend's trubor but I always thought of it as too heavy and sluggish. The matchmaster is quite the opposite, happens to fit my hand like a glove. Sure, it recoils a bit more but with factory ammo (no reloading equipment yet) the MM beats the Trubor hands down. Not sure how it compares on major ammo, can't compare properly since my friend made a custom grip to his pistol a while ago. Doesn't fit me at all so I can't give a proper opinion on it. Here you can see my MM @ 480fps running S&B bulk
  18. Minor, couldn't afford reloading equipment yet. Yes, this is my first pistol (unless airsoft counts?) Thanks!
  19. Well, this time it went south, bad. Positioned at 21/28. On the stages I tried to go slow enogh, I was waaay too slow and on the stages I tried to speed it up a notch my hits were bad (and I still wasn't NEARLY fast enough). I feel like I'm going at my limit already and some guys have times two thirds of mine (11.4s vs just under 8). Oh well, this was probs the last big comp for me this year. I'll try to train as much as possible during the winter with the minimal amount of ammo I can get.
  20. Good points, thaks. I'll try to remember these tomorrow. I also agree with the order of the pair in the proc stage Also got feedback from elsewhere that I need better stage plans and I also need to break my grip if I need to run
  21. I do call my shots and thats basically why I am shooting extra, I know I messed up
  22. My first time trying to count makeup shots and i screwed it up I thought it was empty
  23. Hey all This is from last week's Finnish open div nationals, my first L3 match ever. I've been shooting IPSC for a year now and finished 32nd (of 52). I already got feedback on shooting too much (way too many targets get 3 holes, some even 4) and I can see that I over-extend my hands (like I would with iron sights) so I lost the dot all the time. Maybe I was trying too hard. But on top of that, I'm pretty sure there is a lot of other stuff to improve on also. I'm eager to hear what you guys have to say
  24. I used the cr wsm-ii until today. I got my SLB holster in the mail and it has to be the best holster i've ever tried
  25. The pov is superb. I might have to get a session this summer...
