  1. 8.6 grs seems to be just perfect with the above bullet at 29,6mm OAL. I'll have to double check PF but seems to be at 164 ish
  2. Now it finally has all the major work done. Cerakote on all metal parts. Only thing left to do is to find black screws for the thumbrest. Two sided optic mount and thumbrest are custom parts.
  3. I have basically the same load: Alsa 124gr FMJ RN, 8.6 grs of 3N38 from an old STI matchmaster with a 4,25" barrel but I'm getting barely an average of 163 PF. Now I'm having a Brazos 5" barrel with TC2 cuts. Any suggestions on how much to use 3N38? Just by looking at the post above, 8.6 grs might be way too much. Just looking for a ballpark start. Maybe 8.2?
  4. I ended up with a Brazos barrel and slide. I'll just need to get some paperwork done here and then the gunsmith can get on with his magic. I'll post pictures of the finished product here
  5. Thanks for confirming! Sounds like there is no point whatsoever to order a slide all the way from the US then. I'll do some digging if I can find an equivalent slide from Europe.
  6. Can anyone confirm this? Sounds like a pretty bold statement
  7. In any case, I am buying a bald, untouched unique slide so the lightening will be done here. Thus lightening profiles do not matter at this point.
  8. Living in Finland makes my options limited, but currently my options for a 5" 9 major open gun slide seem to be Atlas vs Brazos. Atlas is out of stock at SSI and Brazos is in stock. What's the opinion here, should I just order the Brazos slide or wait for the Atlas to come back to stock? One local smith said he didn't really like working with Brazos parts and that's the only thing I've really heard about them. I have a Brazos 5" barrel coming as well, since it was basically the only one-piece compensator available.
  9. I own three SLB's because I think that is the best holster I've used. If the everglades comes even close, it's still far ahead of any other competition
  10. Well it is illegal only if the invention is patented or the design is protected. Otherwise it's free game, legally. Morally it's a whole another story
  11. Does anyone know what is the thread size and pitch of the default screws on the non Legion x5 for holding the rear sight in its place? I normally deal with metric and these appear to be imperial...
  12. SLB Gen 1 for me. I've got the gen2 for PD but I somehow like the gen 1 better. I know SLB personally and it's nice to buy these from a local store
  13. That's interesting! I wonder if it can be fixed by changing the safety lever or something similar. Mine started doing it again after being fouled after shooting. This is the first time it does this just from fouling. Haven't yet cleaned to see if mine stops.
  14. Sure, any looseness in the trigger group could create unwanted effects. I just fully disassembled my FCU again and polished all contacting surfaces. After assembly I got the double reset again and almost lost my mind trying to replicate the issue with the slide off, but wasn't able to and wasn't able to find the culprit part. Then I thought to add a few drops of oil to lessen the problem since I assembled it dry. Well, the double reset was gone. A good reminder that guns are not meant to run dry.
  15. I wasn't trying to claim you weren't right, I was willing to learn. After re-reading the rule, I can confirm that nothing there says it should be a reshoot.
  16. Does it have to be? What in USPSA rules prevents such an arrangement done for range safety if the ban consists of all local matches at the range regardless of discipline? I don't see a reason why a range ban between the range and a shooter should have anything to do with USPSA rules. A local safety officer can't ban the shooter from the sport, but can ban the shooter from the range.
  17. Could you please quote the rule? I've been under the impression that it should be a REF and a reshoot if the plate doesn't fall, but as a competitor in the rare event a plate won't fall on hti I've just shot it until it falls because I can't care for the hassle...
  18. A friend of mine recently discovered that applying pressure on his right thumb in a similar way interfered with his trigger control and made him lose accuracy. As Schultz pointed out, try it out to see what happens. Some pressure probably won't matter but death grip on your right hand will probably have negative effect. I myself insert a slight pressure with my right thumb and haven't noticed any problems, but my right hand is mostly relaxed on the pistol
  19. Bill Drill. 6 shots at Alpha as fast as you can. The goal is to see the sights every single time instead of just pulling the trigger as fast as you can. The times depend on your level but a two second bill drill at 7 yards is a good run. I try to push 1.8 with my open gun while my PB at 25 metres is slightly over 2.9 all alphas.
  20. I removed the striker safety to confirm my theory and yes, the double reset disappeared. I also found out that the old safety lever 1302387-R still requires the use of a safety lever spring: and the new 1300739-R does not: Now all original parts are back in and I'll update this if I remember when I install the GG kit some day.
  21. After removing the spring, the the trigger reset has assisting force up to two points and gives a distinct click on the first one although the trigger isn't fully reset. This is extremely annoying. Any ideas? Do I have to put the spring back in? Apparently SIG doesn't install the safety lever spring in newer SIG's anymore, so when I was watching an assembly video not mentioning the spring first I was baffled on where did the spring materialize from. I'm also probably going to order and install the GG kit so that might solve the problem too but I'm interested if anyone else has the same...

    Springer grip tape

Does anyone happen to have the backside of the tape, or an unused tape available? I'm in need of a grip tape template for DIY material...
  23. We ended up buying plastic buckets where we inserted short plastic tubes wide enough to accommodate the wall legs, and then we filled the buckets with concrete. The first prototypes are drying up now and we'll test them tomorrow. I'll post pictures if I just remember to take some. The bases are stackable and have handles to make carrying easier. They are quite hefty so they shouldn't budge due to a slight breeze...
  24. Our current design philosophy is to have walls outside the shooting area, ensuring that they are not leaned into. We are trying to make a difference in our country to try to lower the general threshold for keeping matches. Currently our typical L2 matches are done with such painstaking attention that they could easily be L3
