  1. I don't have a SD, but a 550. I have determined that having a case in each station during reloading will have a direct effect on the consistency of the OAL. So I start out with maintenance brass, and new brass into the sizing station, and as I come to the end of my reloading, I finish with my maintenance brass. My maintenance brass is defective, but same head stamp as my shooting brass. This is what I setup my tool heads with, and start and finish my reloading with.
  2. great, as I said, I am really happy with my limited KKM barrel, my next purchase for my open gun.
  3. Please keep us up to date on your decision. I am contemplating a KKM in my open gun, have one in my limited, and am very happy.
  4. I'm pretty new to open, got a used gun with a 9x21 barrel that shoots 38 super. I myself was wondering about the extra room in the chamber, but the gun shoots great. I was actually thinking of barreling my gun, but the more I talked, and read, I am sticking with what I have. Will see how many reloads I get out of new brass?
  5. I am contemplating that issue right now, I have a Serendipty with a couple of mount holes that are cracked. I can send it back to C-More, or cut it down to a Slideride and use a single sided mount. I am leaning towards the later so that I do not have to remove the racker to get the slide off, yes, I can get a ball detent racker. There seem to be an awful lot of folks with single side mounts, I do not hear of them breaking, or moving so much as to effect accuracy.
  6. will these mounts use the holes already in the frame from the serendipity c-more?
  7. I am leaning towards a single side mount to make it easier to remove the slide with the slide rack installed.
  8. I am going to change from a Serendipity C More to a slide ride, any suggestions, thinking of the DAA mount.
  9. Lock up was bad, the barrel to breach faces was not correct, bottom lugs were incorrect, and the barrel was, I believe, inferior material. When it's accuracy started to go bad, it went pretty fast. The KKM barrel is tight and setup correctly, shoots straight now. I might give one of those DP sights a look, have a Brozos on it right now, would like something much larger.
  10. A couple more 170s in the future for me, can't carry enough bullets to the line!
  11. I think that the barrel was made from inferior materials and fit incorrectly to the slide. When the gun was new, it would shoot pretty good, but as time went on, the accuracy started to fall off. I tried many different loads, changed powders, bullets(plated and jacketed), cases, even spent 38$ on a pound of VV320. I even thought I screwed up a batch of reloads, because the bullets were tumbling through the targets. Now, I know I'm not the best shot in town, but when I couldn't hit big poppers at 20 feet lined up in a row, the shot were varying widely from side to side, I knew it was time to do something. Dropped it off at the smiths office, and he determined the barrel was bad and improperly fit, so with a new KKM barrel, I have a new gun. I am shooting a standard load, 1.175", 180 grain HAP, 5 grains Vectan 9.5(still have the VV320 on the shelf), Federal cases, and CCI SPP. Am using MBX mags, expensive and they work, STI mags modified as back-up. By the way, that same load that was tumbling with the old barrel does not tumble in the new barrel. What is the diameter of the fiber rod in the Dawson sight?
  12. what's the advantage of a flat wire spring
  13. I was wondering abuse that, have other magazines that act as they should, just this one magazine.
  14. Guess I should be more clear, the magazine is ejecting on it's own, without any input from me.
  15. Anyone had an issue with the magazine releasing from the gun on the last round fired?
  16. My magazines work as good as I thought, although I have 1 that drops out of the gun after the last round? Will get around to looking at it this week, thinking a follower may be causing the issue? hope so, easy to fix that. The round count in the magazines is still 28 in the 170, and 22 in the 140, guess I can live with that.
  17. I kind of figured as much, they are new. Are you still using MBX internals? I have seen MBX followers leave the magazine.
  18. Well, I received my magazines yesterday, can get 28 in the 170s and 22 in the 140. They fit well and eject easily, will take them out the next day or so and see how they work.
  19. I'm using the 223 shell plate, works good. I also just got an EGW undersize die, seems after a few reloads, the cases bulge. I have been told that the cases will stretch, check for OAL also.
  20. Well, MBX it is. I settled on two 170s and one 140, MBX said they are not going to make 155s for the Caspian. Caspian referred me to MBX. I expect that they will preform as good as the others I have, no tuning required.
  21. I load 7 gr of VV340, 125 gr HAP, 1.225 oal, Starline SC case, and CCI spp, my pf is 167. There is more room in the case for more powder. The primers are in very good condition, can push this load some more. All of the reading I have done since making the jump to open, is to reduce muzzle movement and keep the dot on the target. I don't know if this is the right combination or not, and understand I will try other combinations, but am not disappointed with the recommendation of this load.
  22. It maybe to fast, on the burn chart, 340, 3n37, 3n38 and 105 are all right together. I know from the chart that 340 is faster than the others because it's at the top of them, but how much faster? I will experiment with other powders that are slower and produce more gas, this is a starting point.
  23. the primers look good, no sign of over pressure, I have a Caspian, the load shoots pretty good, the sight doesn't move to much, as I stated, I'm new to open guns, just going on advice from whom I bought the gun from, seems to work. I have been shooting a 40 in limited for years so I am not new to the process I will be talking with others locally who have more experience and I will try more powders in the future.
  24. The person I purchased my pistol from recommended VV340 and 125gr bullets, I am using 7gr of VV340, 9mm HAP 125, 1.245 oal and cci spp, get 170pf. Am still learning
  25. I'm waiting for 155's for Caspian style
