  1. I can remember when I bought a 929, asked the revo shooters what it would take to get it ready for competition, no problem, easy enough to do. Well, the true story is nowhere close to that. Getting the trigger to a light pull and being able to set-off primers reliably is where I should have made the decision to move on. Then stopping the bullets from walking out of their cases was another venture. Sell, trade your 929 for a 627, your mental health will appreciate it. Oh, if you want to shoot 38 S/SC, you're in for another huge hurdle with a 929. Good luck
  2. Run it and see how it works, I've seen a few different ways to mount optics whit success. If the screwa do break, drill them and then secure the optic with a couple of pins as barry mentioned above. Go shoot and have fun.
  3. Maybe commonality of parts, thus reduced costs and more profit?
  4. Guess I'll have to try calling S&W for a new cylinder, wish me luck.
  5. Anyone know if there is a cylinder for a 929 that would chamber 38S/38SC ?
  6. Which Armory Craft Magwell? Dah, just found it.
  7. check out the Tripp 10R-10MM-RG mags, have the polymer/metal followers.
  8. That's all that I use, Tripp, but other good mags out there.
  9. That's a good read, but nobody seems to be breaking or blowing out the glass.
  10. I can only assume that's what is being suggested? I really don't want to run down the rabbit hole chasing a non-existing problem. The options are to change optics, expensive, with hopes the same dose not happen.
  11. I'm leaning towards the pistol, this is the second optic? I checked all the mounting, plate, and sight, all torqued and lock tite. Tampa-XD45, what other sites could I go to to read more on this. I looked at the DSC Gunworks site, no mention as to the reasons or benefits to welding up the chamber indicator. Have other pistols, not 1911, that have the similar notch in the barrel, and no issues.
  12. Interesting, I didn't think of that. I haven't heard anything from others having this issue and would hope that Springfield would have discovered this during development. Food for thought!
  13. ysrracer, I have tried three different powder funnels, undersize die, two different set of dies, lee factory crimp die, and the DAA O.A.L/Crimp die, .355, .356, .357 bullets (coated, plated), win, federal, blazer and other brass. My final, for now, set-up is undersize die, a.355 powder drop, DAA O.A.L/Crimp die. 1.55"oal, win brass, .375 crimp, fed spp, 3.3gr Vectan 9.5. Things are behaving right now, so best left alone until something changes.
  14. LDRIDER, I believe you are on the right track, it's the 1 thing I have yet to do to my pistol. I shot the pistol without the sight for a while, didn't perceive any issues prior, but worth a look.
  15. I am using all the above tooling on my set-up, the only thing I have recently changed, is I now have the DAA die that sets the O.A.L. and crimp, crimp is .375 as stated above. The die is made for DAA by Lee, worked this last weekend, and will try again this weekend, hopefully I finally got a handle on the monster.
  16. Wow, hopefully she's okay. My pistol is a 9mm Prodigy, shots really well. This is not the first dot to break on it, 1st was a Burris FF4, blew the glass out, and the second was a Vortex Viper, cracked the glass. Both did not make it through the first mag, all my scopes are taken care of and not mistreated. I'm not going to be a big of Limited Optics if I have to continually return broken scopes, been shooting open for years and other than replace batteries, no problems.
  17. Have a problem with breaking the glass in red dot sight, anything particular to lookout for while mounting? Pistol is using a plate, I have looked for any damage to the plate, pistol mount, and the optics, nothing stands out. I am using the correct screws, and they are torqued correctly. Gun is 9mm, 147 gr loads shooting 132 PF, soft shooting.
  18. It's been a bi@#ch, but, crimp the ever loving s*#t out of it. I truly understand why there are so few revolver shooters.
  19. Seems like I have finally reached a point of controlling bullets walking out, .357 bullet, 147gr BB, 1.15 oal, .375 crimp, win brass and good accuracy. I have been on this, and other forums for two years trying to figure this out.
  20. Winchester brass, .357 blue bullet dia + (.011 x 2 case wall thickness) = .379" usin Lee factory crimp. Guess I should try different brass, although I'm pretty sure I've been down that road. I've tried other bullets also. Powder drop die is set to the smallest bell to accept the bullet without shaving. Oh, Montana.
  21. Great, take a magnetic base and dial indicator. 2k isn't bad
  22. I've done all that and more, nothing short of gluing the bullets in the cases. I'm down to .375" crimp, soon to be .370", way more crimp than I could imagine.
  23. I'm still chasing the bullets walking out of the cases, going to start crimping more, seems to be the answer for a lot of folks.
