  1. No popples, 3 port comp, it is not as clean as vit, but I clean every 1000 also, or right before a shoot, I don’t notice any erosion on the barrel, about 7000 rounds since new. AA7 cleans up easily, you’ll like it.
  2. 38SC, CCI SPP, 125 HAP, 10.1gr AA7, 1377 fps avg, 5" KKM
  3. JAFO, I agree with your comments, but have seen both occurrences. I do also agree that RO's need to be aware of their presence to the shooter and the stage, so that running into each other can be avoided. I have been challenged by a shooter for target score, for shooting through the wall support, through a port/opening, and over turned by the MD. Other wise, why tape over the wall support to cover the hole from a prior shooter? Looking at the rule book again, 8.6.4 If the shooter and RO conflict on the course, the RO can offer the shooter a reshoot, not the other way. The rule also states that if the shooter commits a safety infraction, I would assume purposely running into the RO, a 10.3 will be issued.
  4. I've only been shooting USPSA for 7 years, so I haven't seen everything, but I have seen incidences like this, and shooters running over RO's, and demanding a reshoot. Granted, this is not a large issue, but shooters do these things. I have even been told of and experienced these examples by senior NROI at level 2 & 3 matches. I have not experienced a shooter being DQ'd for these examples, to the opposite, they were given credit for the target, or a reshoot. Once again, if the definitions of "failure of props such as openings, ports, or barriers" were defined, and accompanied with penalties, would go a long way to correcting this issue.
  5. So, I'm having a bad day, want a reshoot, so I just shoot through the wall and get a second chance? The wall, unless specified "soft cover", are impenetrable "hard cover", 9.1.6. Except the supports that the wall is constructed with to make the walls? I believe what is required is a definition of what is a "failure of props such as openings, ports, and Barriers" 4.6. These are non-moving parts of the course, so the openings, ports, and barriers don't move into the shooters view, the shooter didn't have the view? They are performing their function of obscuring the target.
  6. Figured it out, I recently put a shock buffer on the recoil system, now it wont allow the slide to be pulled back far enough the release the slide stop.
  7. My slide stop has stopped releasing and allowing the slide to move forward. If I have to slide stop engaged, insert a mag with rounds, pull the slide to the rear, the slide stop will not release and allow a round to chamber ???? This just started, have about 3000 rounds through a new barrel with no issues.
  8. Beyond the sear pin hole issue, I did have sear/hammer issues. I tried honing the trigger hooks and sear angles, with no luck, so I replaced them, all is good now. And I have the correct size sear pin installed. This is a 1911.
  9. Did you round that one yourself? I’m going to try the squared one for a while. I like the way it recoils and comes back on target.
  10. 100% is the important part
  11. Think I'll drop the recoil spring a pound and try again, I do like the way the gun recoils with this FPS.
  12. I just fit an EGW FPS to my pistol, I had a couple of stove pipes, 2 out of 75 rounds. I really like the effect it has on the recoil of the gun, I had been running a more conventional FPS with the rounded end with no stove pipes, so the square end is an experiment. Might I have to reduce the recoil springs a lb or two? I have a 38 Super, running HAP 125(.356), 10.1 gr AA#7. Might be my imagination, but square FPS has a great effect on the recoil, the sights come back on the target much faster.
  13. Wow theWacoKid, you must do nothing but shoot, awesome!
  14. I drilled the hole to the correct size, now the sear is held in place correctly. Tried again, hammer still drops to 1/4 notch, although not as often. I have Brownell trigger alignment pins, place the trigger and sear on outside of the pistol, check for alignment. Seems good, stoned the sear just to clean up the face, still does it.
  15. To make a 9mm bullet travel fast enough to make power factor is the same, whether 9mm or 38 super. 125 gr bullet has to go 1320+ fps, 9mm or 38 S/SC. The case volume is the difference, there is less volume in the 9mm than a 38 S/SC. I would venture to say compressed for the 9mm, think this maybe the reason there are stories of bullets growing in length, crimp or not. In my short life(61), and reloading experience, compressed loads are used cautiously with the fear of over pressurizing the chamber. I'm not an expert on this subject, no chemical or mechanical degrees, but experience in the occasional HOT loads, there are reasons for SAMMI specifications. I know there are a lot of 9mm major shooters out there, and have no problems, but I also go to shoots, and read forums, like this one, and see the majority of gun failures are 9mm major, not to say 38 S/SCs don't fail. It's a personal preference, and everyone is different and excepts what comes with it. The price of 9mm brass is not an argument when you are talking about 4 to 7 thousand dollar guns.
  16. When I decided to move to Open, I made my decision after watching the folks with open guns over a year, mostly local(small microcosm), and some Area shoots, I decided on 38. Different manufactures, seems to me, 9mm's like to break things, like barrels, comps, and slides. I'm not saying 38 doesn't break, just my small observations.
  17. I should know better than this, but maybe SV got tired of warranty costs?
  18. I have done this numerous times, the hammer will only drop to the 1/4 notch while vigorously racking the slide holding the pistol in a downward fashion.
  19. Well, it's an undersize sear pin hole, by about .005". Not sure how hard the frame is? Not trying to be to cheap, not aware of any good smiths I would let do the job in my area, and I could always send off to a reputable smith. This is not an expensive pistol by any means, just not worth dumping a lot into it. The trigger pull was about 9#, had another trigger and sear of decent quality, so I installed them. Well, I have the trigger pull down to 3.5#, and when I let rack the slide quickly, the hammer will drop to the 1/4 stop. There is a sharp edge on the hammer hooks, and sear is honed correctly(I would say). I just feel that the small amount of play from the sear pin dia., to correct sear hole dia., it lets the sear release from the hammer hooks?????
  20. What would be the best way to enlarge an existing hole in a frame? drilling, reaming? Approx .005"
  21. I'm waiting for my XDM to return from the smith, I jumped out on a limb when I saw one in stock at the store, and bought it. My friend uses a Venom, but 3moa, the 6moa is nicer. Can't wait to get it on the pistol. I use Vortex on my rifles and am very happy with their performance, so I wasn't to concerned.
  22. Having my slide machined to accept a red dot, thinking about a Vortex Venom 6moa, any experiences?
  23. thanks, finally got a reply from DAA, said the same.
  24. Ditto on dogtired, you can sand the grips thin and then cover with skateboard tape, I've seen this with a lot of the older shooters. There is not a lot for the Pro Match out there, maybe Para stuff. I have been shooting a Pro Match for 5 years, you are pretty much on your own. Best thing to happen to the RIA was MBX, they actually work without a hammer.
