  1. Unless specifically allowed, staging ammo would be altering the stage
  2. Part of your match fee is an activity fee that goes to USPSA. There isn't a free ride by not joining. But if you want to get classified, or shoot at larger sanctioned matches, then you will need a membership.
  3. Has to be an ember from the powder. No mechanical way it could still be the bullet, Too much smoke out the muzzle. The barrel is already unlocked, tipped up in the slide
  4. Have some of these coming in, will convert my uspsa and 3 gun belts over to this and give it a try
  5. They look cool, even if you don't grab there to run the slide.
  6. Get a calibration pack of springs and try them out until you find one that cycles reliably and returns your front sight to target well with your loads. Cutting length off your spring doesn't change the weight of it, it just makes you have a shorter spring.
  7. Just use the Chicago screws to mount the pouch onto the ELS fork
  8. Just to muddy the water further, why not consider the SIG Traditional Match Elite? It comes already checkered on the front strap, ambi-safety, just needs a magwell and fiber front sight.
  9. 1911 is going to be far better for bullseye, and will fit right in with IPSC classic, I think that is what they call their single stack division. Though you would probably want it in 9mm since they aren't limited to 8 round arrays. Take all of this with a grain of salt, I'm a USPSA shooter.
  10. Bladetech, or get a DAA for a para ordnance
  11. Gotcha, so the 226 even with an SRT still doesn't have a good enough trigger and has a high bore axis, and the 320 is cheap enough for people that don't want to buy a gun tailored to compete with.
  12. Why does the p320 seem more common in production than the p226? I would figure the metal frame 226 with DA/SA trigger would be a similar setup to the Stock II and CZ Shadow's that are the gamer guns of the day?
  13. I know the Thunder looks cooler. Would love to see a 5.4" hybrid/island barrel setup with thunder style lightening cuts.
  14. It probably depends on the wording of equipment rules for whatever group you shoot 3 gun under and their divisions. Some places HM means single stack 1911, some it is just anything in .45
  15. DVC, (accuracy, power, speed). The scoring values favor major power factor, simply because of the principle that if you hit with more power it is more effective. If you are going to bring less power, you need to make up for it in accuracy and/or speed, either with more Alphas or faster times to boost hit factor. Major/minor scoring is not about balancing the benefit of 9mm vs .40, it is just one side of the DVC triangle that each shooter has to figure out for themselves how they can get the best hit factor, and for most people in limited there is a slight edge for major. Take revolver division, virtually everyone that shoots it, does it with minor, because of speed. 8 shot revolvers allow them to cut out standing reloads that would happen with 6 shot major. This isn't a problem that major scoring is not desirable enough to make them shoot major. The scoring just is what is is for the hits. Their fastest, best way to solve the problem just happens to be with minor guns and the extra capacity.
  16. I went from a decked out G35 to one of those Armscor/RIA pro match .40's a few months back. I enjoy the Rock Island far more.
  17. In USPSA, stages usually break up into 8 round chunks. This makes 6 round major revolvers not viable due to the number of standing reloads. It makes single stack borderline that some stages favor major 8, and some favor minor 10, but it is all about cutting out standing reloads. In limited with extended mags, most can get 21 rounds of major in a mag and 23 or 24 for minor. For most stages this difference will not eliminate a standing reload. This just leaves the split time difference in reduced recoil of minor, and with most heavy frame bull barrel guns used in limited, this time difference is minimal, and can't overcome the handicap of minor scoring
  18. Does the gun craft trigger have a tab on the front for taking out take-up (pre-travel)? Or did you cut it and bend it yourself? I can't find a good picture that shows it having one.
  19. If it is so hard to get magazines in those oppressed states. Why don't we have Open10?
  20. If it is a complete SVI gun, then probably. If it is an SV frame that somebody cobbled together into a gun, then probably not. Even if it is a true SVI, but is shot out and beat up, then not so much. It depends on the whole package, how it is configured, and condition.
  21. Practice your presentation enough that the dot is in the window, then target focus for shooting. Except for very tight targets.
  22. Go with what you've got, check out matches local to you, find out what you will be shooting. Some matches really stretch out the rifle for long shots, some are on short bays and hoser stages. Talk with people there, and check out their gear in person, most would be happy to talk up their kit unless they are putting together a stage plan or about to shoot. From there figure out what you need to spend money on for quality of life improvements. Yes it's the Indian not the arrow, but a 5 round pump will never be competitive in Practical, and dropping serious coin on a fully worked over M2 won't make you a 3 gun deathstalker. Find a balance that suits your budget and gets you in the game.
  23. Any hobby can get expensive quick, it just depends on your budget and level of of participation
