  1. And if it wasn't "his buddy"? Just a random guy on the range? Shooter still gets a penalty for something that he had no control over? 8.6.2 Any person providing interference or unauthorized assistance to a competitor during a course of fire (and the competitor receiving such assistance) may, at the discretion of a Range Officer, incur a procedural penalty for that stage and/or be subject to Section 10.6. At the RO's discretion
  2. That's been my position all along. You don't challenge PCC shooters by giving them long shots that the platform is inherently good at. You challenge them by giving them tight shots and walls and ports to maneuver around.
  3. 8.6.2 allows for a procedural for the person coaching and the shooter, as well as possibly making them subject to 10.6 So procedural to the shooter for his non-shooter buddy coaching. If he wants to make a stink about it, or just decides to "coach" all the shooters, then 10.6.2 expelled from the range
  4. 6.2.4 puts it up to the MD to even allow a second entry, which would be for no score. 6.2.4.1 allows for level 1 MD to allow the second entry to be for recognition. Having seen it in action, I think trying to shoot 2 divisions in a USPSA match is a bad idea for the reasons posted above, and I try to not squad with people I see signed up that are double registered. For steel challenge I don't see it as an issue though, since the actual shooting and time between strings takes far longer than the reset of painting a couple of plates. You just need to balance squads based on the number of guns being shot, not the number of shooters.
  5. I put 5 or 6 quarters under my PSA buffer before even firing firing since I had heard about 9mm guns breaking the bolt catch without a spacer. Probably close to 1k rounds through it so far. I don't get what people are talking about with harsh recoil in these.
  6. For my .40 I'm using ACT mags, Dawson bases, Taran springs and follower, no inserts (9mm needs the Arredondo insert though) Once the springs set I can get 21 reloadable
  7. Shooting some matches with a pistol, and other matches using a PCC is a fine idea. Lots of people will occasionally shoot a different division than normal just for a change of pace and a different method of breaking down stages. Trying to shoot 2 divisions in the same match is a terrible idea, and clubs shouldn't allow that. You need to keep your squads roughly the same size, so they progress from bay to bay at about the same pace. Each double gun shooter adds and extra run, scoring, and reset to the stage, but they also take away a person doing the reset because they have to reload 2x the number of mags, and swap gear around for their next run. This has nothing to do with PCC specifically, it applies to anyone trying to run any two divisions in the same match.
  8. It still counts, just not in the shooter's favor
  9. Unload, show clear, insert chamber flag. From there it is a cold gun and can be carried muzzle up or down back to be secured in a cart or bag, just like every other gun sport does with a long gun.
  10. It wasn't even up there earlier today I don't think.
  11. Would definitely be an awkward "make ready"
  12. Oh...like Steel Challenge then? Sounds more like Bullseye. Steel Challenge at least still emphasizes speed and shooting.
  13. Would it make you feel better if they were simulated flowers and you took a procedural for trampling the plants?
  14. It is better to fit the racemaster insert to your gun anyway. You are modifying a cheap, soft part and get an ideal fit. It is a better option than if they made it loose enough to fit any possible gun on that frame meaning most of them would wobble all the time.
  15. No, it isn't a 4th gun, it is just its own division, where you need a pistol, a shotgun, and a PCC. Paper = two hits anywhere or one in center scoring zone with pistol, or rilfe, or once with slug Clays static or aerial = bird shot only falling steel = bird shot, pistol, or PCC (can't use rifle caliber here) Max target distance 100 yards, it is great for bay type ranges. If you just have to stick in some even longer stuff, stick a reduced sized target just for PCC at 100 yards. They don't slow down the match, typically their times are faster than practical/tacops because they spend less time loading the shotgun or banging away with pistols at distant steel.
  16. I'm using the the old style para insert, and use it on the pro match .40 and the HC Tac 9. I had to file on the locking tab for the insert a bit to get it to latch in, just go slow and mark where you need to remove material. I used the muzzle support for a few matches, but took it off once I had the feel for re-holstering
  17. Caliber conversions are not legal for USPSA Production. A 40-9 barrel won't fit in a G17, the barrel OD is too large for the hole in the front of the slide. Modifying a G17 slide to take a 40-9 barrel would be an un-authorized modification to the slide, and the 40-9 barrel would be of a different contour than the factory barrel. However if you really wanted a bull barreled Glock, the 31 in .357sig is production legal, you would just need to make your own minor PF loads for it.
  18. You've already identified that the mags can release rounds too easily. Get some good Metalform mags (Palmetto State Armory has them on sale regularly) This is the easiest, and most likely culprit. Troubleshoot further from there if necessary.
  19. Those are bull barreled guns, which is a no-go for full size in single stack. Which is a shame, because they would be good cheap fun otherwise.
  20. In your opinion what other parts other than the tube does the M3K need? Maybe the 21" doesn't have a mid bead, I know the 24" does. I'm loading 2/4 just fine on mine right out of the box. It comes with 1 choke IC, if you want anything else it is up to you whether you get extended or not and what you get. The M3K needs all the stuff I mentioned in my earlier post that the Beretta did better. It needs either a mid bead or rear dovetail for long slug. The checkering is a matter of preference, but after feeling the Beretta, I'd have to make changes to a M3k. The M3K does need loading port work, and once you do that, is going to need the lifter either extended or replaced with an extended one. Nothing really can be done about the safety, at least it is already pretty big on the M3K, I just like it better out in front of the trigger guard than behind it.
  21. Is the Beretta dollar for dollar better? That is what you will have to decide. What made the decision for me was a lot of little things that added up. The Beretta has a mid bead on the rib in addition to the fiber front, so you don't have to get some kind of rear sight milled into your rib for long slug. The stock checkering is pretty aggressive and super grippy. The loading port on the Beretta is usable as is, and no need to replace/extend the lifter. I also liked the position and size of the Beretta safety better. In my opinion, the 1301 comp is a 3 gun shotgun that just needs a tube for capacity and is ready to go. The m3k is a good start, but still needs work, time, and a few parts to really be ready to go.
  22. You don't have to change the bushing to go from a FLGR to a GI style. The half moon cut on the bottom of the bushing should be more than generous for either recoil plug.
  23. Beretta 1301 comp model for off the shelf+tube Controls are already oversized, loading and ejection ports already opened up, the lifter isn't pinchy, a fiber front bead, and it has nice aggressive checkering on the stock. With the +7 extension on for a 12 round tube, it fits perfectly in the Safariland 3-gun bag with the shotgun pocket.
  24. DAA Racer pouches. Same spacers for Colt 9mm as 2011 pistol mags. Makes the setup for 3gun a breeze. No need to change pouches or move stuff around, just slide whatever mags I need into the pouches for that stage.
