Your budget is up there enough look at a CK arms the 3 I have looked at have been on par with my cheely and much nicer than the DVC I had and I thought the dvc was nicer than a buddies Brazos edge
I added a metal grip to my cheely, after a 100 rounds I knew it wasn't for me the gun just felt dead in my hands and I didn't notice any advantages besides increased weight. See if you can't borrow one to shoot at the range or a match first.
Clean the upper once in a while during the season and before a major. I haven't take the lower apart on my current gun so it hasn't been cleaned yet. I add oil as needed. I would guess the upper gets cleaned between 1-2K rounds. Nothing but bullets go down the bore
If you shoot on much concrete indoors I had issues with the TTI pads coming off, also I don't think the +0 ones will make weight if anything else is done to the gun like guiderods. I used the +3/4 pads. The dawson ones are a bargain if you buy them as a competition ready mag also
I started using tape a few months ago, and recently I have started to dri fire with both eyes open, it took me a long time to get to where I could see the correct sight picture without the tape and two eyes open.
I would look for a decent used edge shoot it for a while and try as many other peoples guns as you can to see what you want out of a gun then have one built, when you get it you then have a back up
I wouldn't argue that overalls are not the most important stat, but you might as well have a gauge of how you competed with people at the same skill level.
Because it you are going to get moved to open might as well shoot in a class, plus who doesn't like beating a bunch of open guys with your limited gun.
I believe this would be considered a violation of the forum rules. May I suggest you try the USPSA classifieds if your a member and also your local USPSA area shooters on facebook or forums in your area.
Todd, On my 1050 I get about 1-2% failure rate from brass that is buldged using all Dillon dies. I adjusted the crimp die by finding one and wouldnt gauge and then adding some crimp until it fits the hundo gauge. take some of your failed rounds and see if its near the bullet or base that is preventing them from gauging.
