  1. I have some work to do then, I am getting 3-4" at 10 yards.
  2. What kind of accuracy can you expect from a glock 34 from sandbags at 25yards? I have recently started shooting groups at 15 20 and 25 yards but not sure if it's me the ammunition or the pistol. My guess is the shooter is the issue and then the loads could use some tweaking.
  3. They have the perfect impact sight set, if it's not the parts you need they will swap front sight heights to make it right. Pretty good deal in my opinion.
  4. So I have thought about this quite a bit, what is considered a good group for 25 yards from a bench? What should I expect from a glock 34 with reloads tailored to that pistol?
  5. I use RCBS FL small base dies, it requires a lot of force to fully size them. I switched from an aresol lubricant to a gel type and roller pad. This helped but didn't solve the problem. My friend polished his dies with Flitz and it made it smoother but I haven't had time polish mine. I bought a stuck case removal kit from midway and have used it more times than I care to admit.
  6. I have had good results with varget for 52-75 grain bullets out of a 26" bolt gun, benchmark and XBR have both worked well for 55's out of my 18" nordic AR. I agree with the previous post you are going to have to expierament with charge seating depth. Also if you keep reusing the same brass you should think about annealing your brass, and possibly even weight sorting your brass. All depends on how accurate you want to be.

    Glock 17 vs. 34

I had a 17 and now shoot a 34, only real difference is how much I practice now versus when I had the 17. Either one you pick just make the modifications you want ie sights, trigger, springs and dry fire and live fire practice as much as you can.
  8. Racquetball! Requires hand eye quardination and explosive agility
  9. I saw this same issue at a local USPSA match last weekend, pistol was a Glock 17. The shooter also said it was a new batch of bullets from extreme. I ordered 3k of the 124's a few days before the match, I am a bit leery of them now going to load up a few test batches before I dive in and load all 3k. Hopefully I. Can report back with positive results.
  10. I have the 18" Nordic and love it, the barrel is extremely accurate. Huge plus if you might use your ar for anything else besides 3gun. Like said before there are tons of options for hand guards Nordic makes a nice one for less than 100 bucks.

    Glock 17/19 MOS

Has anyone heard a price on the 19's? A MOS 19 would be awesome for edc and co.
  12. Mike Lau with Tac Pro, a couple hours west of dallas but does great work on 1911's
  13. My preference is Red Dot, I have also used Unique and Power Pistol. Unique has been very hard to find the last few years and Power Pistol seemed to snappy for me. I have a pound of Bullseye I need to test and would also like to test Titegroup. I am shooting 124gr Coated lead for minor PF.
  14. Orbit I don't remember the part number, but I bought them as a set. They are the Dawson Perfect Impact kit. I went with their recommended height.
  15. For my G34 I went with Dawson Precision sights, jäger guide rod with 13lb spring, Zev Tech connector and spring kit and some grip tape. Pretty simple low budget upgrades, the new sights were by far the best upgrade.
  16. I was going through the same thing a few months back, I would leave the match frustrated and wondering why I even went. I started reading Brains book and listening to Steve Anderson's pod cast. I started a regular dry fire practice schedule, I don't get to do much live fire practice. I have also made the mental change from i am going to the match to try and win my division to I am going to the match to see my sights and call every shot. Since then my scores have improved and my confidence has also.
  17. Thank you to everybody for the replies there is some great information in this thread.
  18. So from what I am reading some STI mags will work and others won't. Is it just a roll of the dice as to what mags work or don't work?
  19. I will definently check out Brazos, I can change the front sight for less than 40 dollars to a fiber optic sight. I have to say the Dan Wesson pistols are above my price range. The STI and CRP RO are at the top end of the spectrum for me. I will still need a new holster mag pouches and 3 more mags. Anybody have a recommendation for a good holster and mag holders?
  20. My idea of a good trigger would be around 3lb clean break and so slop or creep. If it involves fitting parts then I will have a competent gunsmith work on it. The CRP looks very appealing, it's in my price range, has everything I am looking to start with. I would honestly rather have a workhorse that is reliable over a high end show piece that I am afraid to put a scratch on. So as of now the CRP Springfield RO looks like a front runner. Can someone please explain what a tool-less guide rod is and why it is desirable, and also what a 70 series is?
  21. I am not a gunsmith but I have some experience working on guns, is it a major project to do a trigger job or is it buy replacement parts and springs and simply swap them out. Dawson Precision offers a Competition Ready Pistol Springfield RO that is in my price range that has everything that I'm looking for. Depending on the degree of difficulty I might be able to do the trigger job myself or have Dawson do it if I purchased the pistol from them. I know the 10 round magazine capacity isn't ideal for 3 gun but I don't have the funds for a 2011 and the 1911 fits everywhere else besides the 3gun game. I just might have two extra reloads that double stack guys don't have per stage.
  22. I am planning on purchasing a 1911 in 9mm in the near future but am coming up with more questions than answers. First off I will use the pistol for USPSA, steel challenge, outlaw steel matches and multi-gun competitions. I intend on getting one in 9mm mainly because I am currently shooting a 9mm and don't want to buy new dies and components and also 9mm is much cheaper to shoot than a 45. So far I have found a much smaller selection of 9mm 1911 ranging from Taurus and Armscor all the way to STI and Kimbers. My main question is should I start with a Taurus and upgrade parts like sights and trigger components or should I go mid range and start with a Springfield and upgrade the same items or should I spend the money up front and buy a Kimber custom II or an STI Trojan and have a pistol out o the box with good sights a good trigger, excellent fit and finish and will hold it's value if I decide to sell it down the road?
  23. So let me make sure I have this straight, for a smooth recoil impulse it's best to use a heavy bullet and fast powder. The drawbacks of a slow burning powder is high extreme spreads on velocity, "different" recoil impulse, possible reliability issues due to the powder being out of its optimal range and the number of rounds per pound of powder is lower than a fast powder due to having to use more grains per cartridge. So for a 9mm minor it would be ideal to have a heavy bullet like 147gr and a light charge of a fast burning powder?
  24. Yes I was wanting push and not a snappy recoil, not that the 9mm is a hard recoiling round. I will try some loads of HS-6 and if it doesn't shoot well I just leave it in the cabinet and use it eventually, I also picked up a pound of Bullseye. that I need to load. HS-6 might not be an ideal powder but the current situation I will take what I can get.
