  1. I have been dry firing with both eyes open for a little over a week now, my transitions are faster and I feel more balanced and faster when shooting on the move.
  2. The 300 black out uses ar15 recievers and bolt. Do you reload? I recently shot a 300 bo pistol that had a 9" barrel and a can and really liked it. Subs with the can were unbelievably quiet. If it were me and I was going to use the rifle in multiple applications I would go with a 300 black out.
  3. SCTaylor I won't be at the gator classic, I am still shooting local matches until my schedule and budget permits majors. Thanks PatriotDefense, I will stop by the next time I'm in Houston. ElMateo I also plan on shooting the DAPS match on the 8th, if you haven't shot at NTMG before be ready for long range rifle and long pistol shots if you are shooting 2 gun, it's a great match at a great facility.

    Other Loves?

Wife and kids, I still hunt (dove, deer, pigs and predators) and fish (pretty much crappie and striper only) but not as much as I did before. Both can be time consuming and expensive.
  5. Looks like Ben Stoger Pro Shop is in north Austin, that's only a couple hours from me. ElMateo I will take you up if I see you at a match. I was planning on a CZ SP01 but I handled one and realized the grip is too small for my hands. I have heard the Tanfo has a larger frame.
  6. Any EAA/Tanfo dealers in the DFW area? I was looking to check out a stock II or stock III.
  7. Same here, I have learned target focus for fast open targets and front sight focus for when I need the most accuracy but nothing about both eyes open feels natural.
  8. RangerTrace have you had a chance to do any more accuracy testing with your new kkm barrel? I am curious to know if the accuracy improvement was worth it.
  9. To the op you can always do Rem/age Remington action savage barrel/nut, Criteron was making them last time I looked. Best of both worlds you get the aftermarket support of Remington and the DIY side of a savage. And Timney makes a very nice trigger for a Remington.
  10. I use 3.7gr of TG and a 124 cast lead coated. This load is reliable accurate and has enough energy to knock over poppers and hard set steel. I haven't shot any 147's but I have shot 115's in the past and thought they were snappy compared to my 124gr load. Forgot to mention I shoot 34.
  11. I started with a Glock 17 now a 34, to do it all over again I would have started with a CZ or a Tanfoligo stock 2.
  12. Dawson Precision seems to be a popular option for competition not sure about duty guns though. My buddy has JP on his Glock 17 duty gun that is super light if weight is an issue.
  13. So far I really like this 1-4 Vortex. I plan on getting to the range this weekend to zero and test my long range loads. Up close to 300 yards will be a 55gr fmj and 300plus I will use a77gr Nosler custom comp with LC brass.
  14. Check out 300MP from Alliant, I have also used Blue Dot. 158gr and a 4" GP100
  15. I went with a Geisselle G2S and am very happy with it. It is a 2 stage, stage 1 is 2.5# and stage 2 is 2# clean and crisp break.
  16. Well I picked up a Viper PST 1-4 today in the classifieds. This scope was at the top of my list, I like the reticle and it has really good glass. I think this scope will serve me well.
  17. I plan on buying a new 1-4 or 1-6 power scope, I have narrowed it down to there options in my price range(400-500) Vortex Viper Pst This seems like a great scope, I can't think of anything negative. SWFA 1-4 Classic. This scope has a reticle I like and really clear glass. Vortex Strike Eagle I haven't handled this scope but everyone seems to like it. Any input on these is appreciated, for the record I have been shooting limited for the past 3 years.
  18. I keep a spare spring kit.
  19. So what are the benefits to using a polished spring and polished buffer tube? Does it just make it quieter?
  20. I vote build it, you can build exactly what you want and gain the knowledge and confidence to work on your own equipment. Shop around for deals or message Jesse Tishouser on face book and he will send you discount codes from his sponsors. That really helps out when putting a project together.
  21. XBR has worked well for me, it meters very well through my Hornady LNL AP. XBR has also produced very accurate groups with a 55gr FMJ 55 gr hpfb and 68gr bthp.
  22. Good deal, just need your belt set up and you will be ready to roll.
  23. I clean mine every 500-1k ish which is basically a few practice rage trips and a match or two. I know it will run much dirtier than that but my ocd kicks in and I won't let go any longer.
  24. Yes that's the guide rod I went with and I use a 13lb spring. Some people use an 11lb it's really personal preference. Agree with the post above on the stippling don't let that sway your opinion Dawson precision makes pre cut grip tape that fits perfectly.
  25. OP the plated bullets might be part of you accuracy problem, I know they were for me, I am switching to Bayou's as soon as I'm done with my last box of Xtremes.
