It all comes down to preference. Is it wildly different no, I'd likely shoot about the same with either. I've always thought 5" 9mm felt a little sluggish, but when Prod was life I just dealt with it. Now with dot guns the slightly shorter ones seem to work better for me. Glock 17, 4.7" Lockwood 320, 4.25" Prodigy. YMMV

Gen 5 34s don't have the cut out.

I found I like my 17mos over my 34 as far as a dot gun goes. Prefer the slide speed.

No big change in participation locally. Maybe a few more, but still 10 or less. Shooting it wasn't all that different. Go to the positions and shoot the things.

Yeah in the peak of Production it was the only place to play if you wanted to shoot 9 without some sort of a disadvantage. This almost certainly inflated the participation numbers.

A few locals here signed up for our match this coming weekend as Prod. We'll see how it goes. I shot a few locals using ipsc prod rules in Limited a few years ago to prep for IPSC Nats. It's not all that different. I doubt we'll see any sort of grand resurgence. Once Prod lost the monopoly as being the only minor only division it's numbers tanked. Even if all new shooters with iron sight guns go from A fudgecicle nobody but a few crayon chewers and winder likkers want to Prod now I doubt it'll move the needle much.

It's just representative of a market shift. General gun owners have little to no interest in 40. Most LEO agencies are moving away from it. Major manufacturer's like Sig aren't even making guns for it anymore.

It'll mostly just boil down to preference. They'll handle slightly different, but the shorter one shouldn't put you at any sort of disadvantage. I've recently picked up one of each to play around with.

Limited is usually the catch all for new people if you're shooting irons. We've got people who are gun club members that only shoot the various matches at our club. The uspsa match is just one of those and they don't see a benefit to joining the org.

Prod GM. I think I was 32-33 when I made it around 2017-18. Don't remember exactly when.

I'd encourage you to find and shoot a full staff reset match. I can almost guarantee you'll never want to shoot a major match another way. Most of the state matches in Area 6 have gone to this model. I honestly prefer working the match in this format too. You get the same ~4 people on the stage taking care of the same things in the exact same way every time. It's efficient and offers the most consistent match to all shooters.

Staff reset match where you shoot 10 stages in half a day is ideal to me.

The problem only seems to be prevalent with LEOs. Likely lack of training and / or maintenance of their gear is leading to this. I mean NYPD had to have Glock specially make super heavy connectors b/c the officers were ND'ing normal 5.5lbs triggers. The simplest solution is usually the correct one and in regards to these it seems like the guns aren't magically going off for 1 subset of the population. Also considering most of these peoples jobs / pensions are on the line if they were to admit negligence you can see why they all would want to scapegoat the equipment.

If you exceed the specs of the plate you're more likely to strip it out. I think I have mine at 20 with a drop of VC3 on my Legions w/ SP plates.

I've carried 19 and a 48. Sold the 48 and might go the 43x mos route. It's really hard to beat a 19.

The Romeo 3 Max uses the RTS2 footprint. I don't think Glock has a factory plate for that. You could buy one from CHPWS or C-More sells a plate. As mentioned above the SRO can uses any plate with RMR footprint.

It's all just preference. Nice thing with the 320 is you could get either grip module to try out and then just sell off the one you don't like.

I'll do a basic clean before each major match. Making sure to have at least 1 range session on it before the match. I'll do a complete detail on them each year when replacing stuff. I did this when I ran Shadows and Shadow 2s and now with my p320s. As I'm playing some more with my 1911s right now I'm finding they do seem to run a little better clean compared to my production/CO guns. They run a little sluggish after a few thousand rounds.

lol I'd be willing to bet people who own those extensions and people who own a USPSA mag gauge are not the same people.

I've seen it done just to run someone's actual carry gun in a match. 48 is my carry gun, but I wouldn't want to shoot it full time as a competition gun. The grip is still too small to shoot a lot comfortably vs a full size gun.

That's pretty neat. I may have to play with that when I get my 3D printer setup.
