Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. This one hurts. Such a wonderful guy, loved his shooting family.
  2. I have a Grandmaster. Ordered a second Trubor barrel/comp and had the comp shortened so I can use it as a Steel Challenge gun. I could definitely tell a difference running the same ammo. I like the longer comp better, and have kept it for both USPSA and Steele Challenge.
  3. Oh, I would say having a clone would be the best. But I agree that a back up custom open gun may not be as financially feasible, especially if you were not traveling a lot for major matches. I would definitely say keep an eye out on the used market. Seeing a number of good gunsbBeing sold for whatever reasons. Then pick out which one of the two you like better and make it your primary. IMO, if it’s time for you to break out your back up gun, you’ve probably already dropped a Stage and for most locals or level twos… it’s just then at that point trying to finish the match you paid for.
  4. I started with a 510 on my PCC, then found a mount for my Open gun. Loved the large window. But then wanted to have the same optics for all my competition guns. I initially had both Max & XL to do a side-by-side comparison and run them. I eventually settled for the XL cause of the larger perceived window and have it on my open, PCC, Carry Optics, and rimfire Mark IV.
  5. I’ve been using the Safariland 014. Been pretty happy with it. Bought them both use off of Facebook. You’ve seen them in action, lol.
  6. I think it’s hit or miss with all optics companies. I currently have 8 Sig Romeo 3XLs, had one I have to warranty. I’ve had to warranty one Holosun 510 and two Vortex Razors.
  7. There seems to be a number of people getting out of Open right now. I would just continue to keep looking at the classifieds or on Facebook. I see a lot of good used Open guns . Could be just the economy, or limited Optics.
  8. I’m always practicing off the timer. That way you just kind of getting used to it. Majority of it is mental… I just think of the beep as my permission to execute.
  9. When my daughter and I were traveling a lot going to different matches. It always seemed like she forgot something. I could swear that one time she purposely forgot her shoes so we would have to go and buy her new ones, lol. It got to the point where she had to make a match travel list. It actually was a good thing considering we shot a lot of 3gun back in the days. Always stuff to forget.
  10. That’s definitely a lesson learned. It happened to my daughter because she decided to stuff her mags so she didn’t have to reload as much but she did end up with maracas. So she just learned to reload faster . I try not to ever fully load my mags. On some of my mags with a extension… I’ll take a file and smooth the internal area where they come together. Mainly, it’s on the mag side not on the extension. Glock mags and Taylor Freelance is where I learned to do most of these.
  11. I actually spray case lube and let dry. Any buildup comes off with not too much elbow grease.
  12. Running 115g for PCC, and 147g for pistol. PF runs 130ish for both. So definitely need to keep them separated for matches
  13. I had Flatnose issue with failure to feed one time. Moved to roundnose and never had an issue so I’m sticking with round nose.
