Hard wood would probably work ok as I'm assuming it's not going to be used a lot. But as I said it's the match box that's the one it MUST fit,
-
It depends on when the gun is tested as if its done before the match it's basically a courtesy and you fix it. If during the match ie: chrono it's welcome to Open. We use the DAA aluminium box as our official box that has sliding lid on it.
-
Be careful of making your box out of wood and using that as a guide before matches, you will find that most matches that use the box it will be either steel, aluminium or perspex as there will be no 'give' in the box when inserting the gun. Always make your box to the minimum spec as if it fit's in that it 'should ' fit in the match box. Remeber to run a straigh edge across the top of your box to make sure it doesn't miss out on the height as well ie: thumb rest. As an IROA official I have run gun checks at our National and State matches and you would be surprised how many guy's front up and their gun's don't fit, the usual comment is but it fitted in my box or the clubs box, unfortunately that's not the one used at the match so tough tittie.

Best of both worlds. This is an STI version but I believe Kensight make them for a number of companies.

I've used a number of different holsters for (IPSC Classic -I believe the holster rules are a little different to USPSA SS) anything from a leather Galco Avenger for a "classic 'rig to a JR micro race holster. But as an all round holster to use with a few different model pistols you can't beat the Safariland 568 Customfit in my opinion.

yes it is what it means is there are so many choices and preferences that it's a decision for the individual.

Easier to only buy 1 and check than buy a heap, but you probably know that now

IPSC allows for .357 Sig for major in all Divisions, as I don't shoot USPSA I won't comment, we have a few guy's here in Australia using it in Classic mostly in "parts guns" as no one is bringing in .357 Sig factory gun's except 1 dealer and that was only very recently. They shoot Sig only because only one state in Aust allows .45 for IPSC Classic ( don't get me started on that)

Why does SA/DA pistol fire hammer down on first shot in production
terrydoc replied to zombywoof's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
you can can't you? Isn't there a decocker version of the Shadow, ( the Tactical I vaguely recall) I may be wrong but I'm sure I asked our CZ importer here in Australia a few years back. -
Stupid question - walking around with holstered guns
terrydoc replied to scottlep's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Simply put Mac you pay your money you take the risk. If you go to a sanctioned IPSC or USPSA match you play by THOSE rules, if you choose to handle your firearm outside of the safe areas or under the supervision of an RO you run the risk of being DQ'd if seen. You will then be DQ'd from the match and if you chose to put up your $100 for arbitration I would strongly suggest the decision would be upheld and you would go home $100 poorer. You can argue all you like, but the rulebook at a sanctioned IPSC /USPSA match OVERRULE local rules, otherwise the match would not be a sanction match. -

+ 1 for that, As small as a gun bag is the RO is not there to be your butler/ man servant, hand it to a shooting buddy so the RO can do his assigned job not be your own personal bag carrier. -
remember the 2in rule if your a skinny bugger you may have issues with a pouch mounted magnet if it's mounted on outside of the pouch

I went the other way I found if I use the 5.11 packs (24) I put too much gear in it So this one seems ok at the moment, having said that I don't usually take more than one gun and ammo for it to the range, I'm more of a match shooter than a practicer .

Similar to the GPS handgunner backpack I recently purchase, although mine has no cooler section and cost twice as much

For USPSA equipment Production 12 Restriction on position of holster and other equipment (revolver speed loaders, moon clips are exempt) Yes, see Appendix E3 Doesn't matter if your using it or not the gear must be compliant with the division rules.
